So, as the title says, what world would you like to play in?

I have most if not all campaign setting published in 3.x era and I'm interested to run a game in a setting that players are passionate about. I ran pretty successful Midnight game on these boards and it was very much player-driven. So, what would you like to play and in what world? Thunderscape, Midnight, Eberron, Forgotten Realms, Scarred Lands, whatever?

My goal is to get 6-8 interested players for a world.

Basic character creation rules will be roll 4d6 drop the lowest 8 times, choose 6 best.

Most races and classes will be allowed, depending on the game world, of course.

I've always kind of liked FR, although I've never had a chance to play in it. Only use it for resources for other games I run.

Eberron always interested me, just never got a chance to play it.

Dark Sun would get a huge raging upvote from me. My white whale.

Dark Archive

I should probably say that any game that I'm running in FR would be before the most recent events, probably around the time when Silver Marshes were found.

If you mean before 4E, that's more than fine. I haven't read any of the 4E stuff. Not wanting to start a flame war, just not my thing.

Midgard...cough...cough

Dark Archive

Lol. Midgard is nice.

So, it's:

Forgotten Realms 1
Eberron 1
Dark Sun 1
Midgard 1

Ditto, with a caveat common to D&D worlds. I liked old school FR, I liked old school Dragonlance, I liked old school Dark Sun.

Tell you what I'd really love to do, is explore Myth Drannor with pathfinder rules. That would be a lot of fun.

Dark Archive

FR 2

Forgotten realms is definitively my cup of tea.

Dark Archive

I must say that I didn't expect so much interest in the Realms.

Using what ruleset?

I'm interested. Be out of town for the holiday weekend.

Willing to run a PFS approved AP?

Dragonlance could be interesting. Some rules mods needed for most worlds.

By that, I mean an AP in campaign mode in an alternate setting. I don't mean running it vanilla with PFS legal characters.

Dark Archive

I plan on using PF, probably with some modifications depending on a setting.

Forgotten realms sounds fun. I haven't read or looked at any of that stuff in years.

I suspect FR will go across fairly easily, DarkSun will be harder but there is this http://paizo.com/threads/rzs2pk8f?Dark-Sun-for-Pathfinder

I think one of the main reasons for FR'S attraction is probably that many great authors have created many colourful and memorable characters to make the world come alive.

I was always quite fond of the old lion of Cormyr and the old wolf of Waterdeep.

Dark Archive

There are many other excellent settings, such as Scarred Lands, Midgard or Midnight , to name a few. I probably have every setting published for d20 in the last 15 years.

There was also lots of good computer games in the realms, e.g. Baldur's Gate!

Waterdeep is a favorite of mine too, as is (of course) under mountain.

Do you have any Ravenloft?

Oh, I'm not disputing that fact, not one bit. I for example am also quite fond of Birthright, but I've been in the realms since 1st Edition, so I've got plenty of good memories from it myself.

Dark Archive

Sure. Ravenloft, Birthright, you name it.:-)

Birthright is nice

I have a craving for an FR game...I miss playing in the realms.

Howzabout a relative newcomer: Thunderscape: World of Aden!

Midgard intrigues me quite a bit, and I have never played in a long running Eberron game. I also do love me some FR.

Nightflier, you're back! Nice to see you again. I played Lantesh in your second Midnight game if you recall. I am interested in anything you run. Eberron appeals to me, but so does Forgotten Realms as I have wanted to play it and never got the chance. Hmm, decisions decisions. I think I will lean the way of Forgotten Realms.

I've got Thunderscape. I Kickstarted them, so I'd be in. Definitely a Thunderscout!

Interested!

In order of my preference:
Eberron
FR / thunderscape
Iron Kingdoms
Numenera
ASoIaF
Dark Sun (would be higher but the others seem more scarce)

Im sure there's something im forgetting

well now I must be the only one that likes Kingdoms of Kalamar. so i vote for that.

my second choice is Greyhawk

I would love to play a Dark Sun game, depending on how you handle defiling and a few other things.

My second choice would be Greyhawk.

My choices, in order of most to least desire.

1. Oathbound, because it's freaking epic!

2. Shadows Over Vathak, because it's basically Ravenloft with a LOT of Mythos!

3. Obsidian Apocalypse, because it's an unholy version of Dark Sun and let's not forget... Khymer!

4. Scarred Lands, because it reminds me of Greek mythology and it's interesting imagining what's left after a Divine War. Love the twisted monstrosities of the setting too!

5. Planescape, need any more be said?

6. Thunderscape, because it's based on a really awesome computer game and I love the magitek vs. Darkfall stuff.

7. Pure Steam, because I think it's cool. Love Steampunk genres!

8. East Texas University, converted to Pathfinder, because as a college student I think it would be hilarious to make a college student character in the creepy/strange/partially gonzo town of Pinebox, Texas!

9. Neurospasta, because I love the questions explored by the setting and the general near-future cybernetic utopia!

10. Midgard, because it's great!

11. Rhune, because I want to play an Elf or Dwarf obsessed with Stormpunk technology.

12. Ravenloft, because I'm a fan of Gothic Horror.

13. Darwin's World/Gamma World, because who doesn't like post-apocalyptic settings?

EDIT: 14. Necropunk, because necrotech is interesting, as is the setting!
I'm sure this list isn't completely accurate to my desires, but I have hundreds of PDFs and almost every published 3.X book (Including magazines,), so it's hard to remember them all!

Im kinda new to pathfinder ( never played a campaign in fact ) but I did some research for myself and I would say FR and dark sun sound interesting to me.

Well I like fantasy based settings, though fantasy with future tech in combination is rather interesting to me.

Ones I really like to play in is DragonLance (3rd Ed version I have), Eberron (also have unused character)

Can also do Forgotten Realms (have the setting) and played a few characters in this setting.

Dark Archive

Okay, it seems to me that FR is clear winner. But it seems to me that there are a lot of players who are interested in something else as well.

So, I propose to run 2 games - one in the Realms and another in a yet-to-be-determined setting.

Please, vote for another setting now. I will limit the upper number of players in a game to 8.

I've never really been a FR fan, drow just never clicked with me.

I'd giggle like a little girl at the idea of a Dark Sun game though.

Dark Archive

Okay, now I'm going to open a FR recruitment thread where you can post your concepts and we can talk about the world etc.

This thread will remain active for the purpose of deciding on the other game world.

So far, it seems to me that the runner-up is some kind of post-apocalyptic/steampunk/magitech setting. Just a proposal, but I have a region in my homebrew world that is something like the blend of Numeria/Mana Wastes with more than a touch of Mournlands from Eberron and Scarred Lands. It's a kind of post-apocalyptic place, the size of both Americas combined, located on a super-continent that floats in a demi-plane of its own. So, that can also be a possibility.

Anywayz, the decision is all yours. FR recruitment thread will be up in a few moments.

Dark Archive

FR recruitment thread is up. Please roll your stats there.

Post-apocalyptic horror fantasy scifi (all-in-one) settings (with truly varied species to play with) I always have a liking for, but hard to find them. The only ones I managed to play were always homebrew settings, where GMs combined settings/systems together, taking idea from the settings to make interesting worlds. Maybe because putting this find of setting take plenty thought and time to build something that future and fantasy can gel together, then tossed into a situation where parts can be in post-apocalyptic state, other parts more scifi, while other more fantasy type.

One of my favourite was playing a magic welder character in a gunslinger space faring setting going from planet to planet. Having high tech pilots, navigators, medic and fighters, with magic users. You never really knew what you were going to face, as anything could pop out of the enemies pockets.

Ebberon,
Planescape,
Midgard.
Gamma World.

I would be interested in an Eberron setting game- in one right now and I love the world and its feel.

Is Midgard the German language only product?

Dark Archive

Okay, it seems that Eberron is gaining. :)

If Eberron is up, I still have my unused lizardfolk assassin rogue character created for your previous Eberron game before you experienced major connectivity issues to Paizo. Has fully fledge back story, may need to adjust the mechanics to PF, think it was done with Eberron mechanics. Though could also use character in other settings, getting plane teleported some how (one way ticket).

Dark Archive

Okay, guys, I'll need confirmation for Eberron. Please post if you want me to run the game there. I would prefer not to have the same bunch of players in both FR and Eberron games, so please choose what you like more.

If Eberron is on, I willing to drop the FR game, considering I already have really unused Zakmakiv Siraski (lizardfolk ninja (assassin (rogue))) from your previous Eberron game, and there are many interested players with very good stats to go with their possible backgrounds and career paths for the FR game. Though probably just update the mechanics according to the mechanics rules you have for Eberron. I did enjoy making this character background, and still like to give it a go with it.

I would still be very interested in Eberron.

Dark Archive

That's two confirmed for Eberron. I need two more, and then I'll open recruitment to gather more interested players.

I count four, excluding me.

I am going to change my vote to Eberron as I have played in the setting before, if only for a small bit. I liked it.
