In Golarion for a Sargava game I ran, it was curious that the Mwangi do not worship good gods. Check out the initial info, it is all evil gods, demons and neutral gods. I get they wanted African savages in their games, but I surprised darkies worshipping evil gods came through so strongly, they are normally more pc than that. .
I wonder if this is a consequence of Christian missionaries so often demonising local gods or spirits in the past.

It felt a bit like that old Orientalism (Said's critique is heavily flawed and demonises a whole wing of academia, the Orientalists, who were interested in learning about the past and not being racist about it), but it also held together. Got some nature worship, Gozreh and a whole lot of forces of evil that keep the Mwangi together in a sort of federation. Quite amusing where, early days, the colonialists were most certainly the good guys compared to the natives.
"They may be oppressing the locals, but at least they don't worship demons!" "They are Chelaxians, they are tied to devil worship, almost as bad!" "Nope, the colonists are the old Chelaxians, their enemies are the devils and the current rulers of Cheliax."
The great white hope colonies.

Ha ha, yeah, which makes me wonder about the changes to the Mwangi expanse and its religions after I left (so to speak, never did get the newer books, the game ended up finishing).
A people in thrall or in service to dark and terrible things, or honouring inhuman nature speaks to me. If they all just follow a mix of good, neutral and evil gods then a lot is being lost to sameification/the way-of-bland. Can't let the darkies be too distinct and possibly serving evil, that wouldn't be progressive. Lol.
Course, Golarion edits and alters as more comes out. The latest version won't always be best for certain games.

You don't get more metal than Africa.
