I would imagine that in the employ of this mysterious benefactor that we would have a high chance of encountering all sorts of unique and interesting creatures. Then we kill/eat* them and take their stuff.
Hopefully without getting a militarized nations worth of weapons trained on us.
*depending on the party members involved, make into brain slave/vampire thrall is also applicable.

Second, being that Sanriel is pretty much our only divine spell caster does anyone want to make some requests for spell to plunder from the Cleric list? (Samsaran get a racial ability to grab Wis mod+1 spells from a spell casting list to add to their current one as an option.)
I'm already planning on Animate dead and considering raise dead/restoration. what else do you guys figure would be great to have in this group?

Updated Rizzen some more. Now he has so many options to deny opponents their dex (deeper darkness, blind dirty trick, invisibility, stunning fist). That combined with 5 attacks that could sneak and pounce will be interesting ;).

@Sanriel: I'm guessing the cleric version of haste (not sure what its called)

Rizzen has some UMD so he uses wand of mage armor on himself, maybe other stuff what we find along the way.

Rwotf is the acronym as I am too lazy to type the whole name. With a summoner potentially in the party I was unsure if such a spell would be useful when we have arcane haste as an option. Had been considering that, planes shift and divine power/might as options. Magic vestment would work really well but is also a depressingly boring choice.
I only get 5 I think. As getting an actual 18 in a stat is prohibitively expensive for a stat buy.

Oh wait, I was thinking of a different spell entirely. Blessings of Fervor is the cleric haste.

I've been gone for a few days. Did I miss anything important?

Here is the thread for the Campaign

Campaign Thread

I ask those with characters essentially done post an intro, like a where they are just before the Lady of Linens reaches out to them to enlist them in her cause, sort of post. I do understand some are better at backstory than others. Just post what you are comfortable posting.

I ask you keep in mind that while I have been gaming and GMing since 1977, this is my first Online PBP in a long while and I might be a touch rusty, considering the variety and diversity of characters as well.

I look forward to the gaming and I thank thunderbeard for the initial inspiration that I have appropriated in this thread.

^^ this.

Thanx Movin:)

Xizor doesn't eat anyone... He just feeds off of all the fear the rest of you generate from your victims. You're handy to have around.

As far as finishing him goes, I'm wrapping him up now.

I feast upon those whom I have defeated.

I do not take their essence, but their minds......

We are suppose to be level 8 equivalent correct?

Level 7 with 2la freebies. You count your monster as a class equal to its Cr. So effectively 9th. I think. Still get gold of a L7 character though.

i cant find creation rules anywhere. whats the point buy? 2 traits?

By following the guidlines :P

Which are cleverly hidden here as stated here.

edit: This may explain why you felt like everyone else just kept pouring templates and stuff unto their characters ... : )

As so nicely linked by lessah.

Hmm... I think I may have underbuilt myself. Wisps are CR 6 with 9 HD, but I replaced two HD with two class levels.

I think you're fine with your immunity to magic ;).

Immunity to Magic (Ex)
Will-o'-wisps are immune to all spells and spell-like abilities that allow spell resistance, except magic missile and maze.

That's frigging awesome!

So I think everyone has posted? Loving all intro's so far!

for class levels is it half HD +1?

Yea pretty sure that's how we did it.

@DM. I think we need a discussion thread open in the other thread.

I posted in gameplay under this alias on accident. I edited it to the right alias but the game still shows up on jimibones83's active campaigns. If you could change me to an inactive player that would be great. I'll try and make sure to post under the correct alias

So what happened, are we not starting yet?

We are now all here so it begins

I have about 6 posts in here to get caught up on. Looks like we have a good 5 to 6 great ideas to run with. I will start the game thread either late Tomorrow or Early Saturday. For everyone my work schedule is Sun, Mon, Tue, Thur 10 hour days. Off Wed, Fri, Sat. So those three days will be my main posting days. Just an FYI with occasional phone updates on breaks and such on my work days.

Submittals in before Sunday if at all possible and anticipate the intro post (overall one) up in here and copied in the gameplay thread at the same time. I have a dozen some ideas to flesh out a little more and then post the intro, without a ton of scheming based off of what people are playing.

That said time to do some more reading, writing, NPC creation notes, and draft my intro.

The vibe might be more Necromancers and Monstrous Madmen than just Monsters and Madmen.

Looks like Remnant is at work. Hopefully percolating on our characters, so I will hope that the awesome begins on Wednesday.

@bobson, you are likely going to need to chat with Remnant on the extent of your characters magic immunity. As it is currently written any spell, beneficial or not is negated by you immunity if it can be stopped by SR.
Thing is magic immunity isn't spell resistance so as written there is no way for you turn it off.

Oh man if he ever is caught by strength damage without his eidolon around. ^_^

I would think it's like Spell resistance in the same way that Fire immunity is to fire resistance though. So it shouldn't intefere with his own personal spells and items at least. And if you can supress spell resistance why not his immunity? Eh just my thoughts.

Hrmm... that would have to be one lucky shadow to nail a wisp. I think I'm going to be running for the hills if there are Shadow Will-o-wisp in our future. Those things are already hard enough to kill without a strength draining touch attack.
Well when I say "for the hills" I mean hiding under six or more feet of stone.

TL:DR- ghosts can only pass through their body width of stuff.:

An incorporeal creature can enter or pass through solid objects, but must remain adjacent to the object's exterior, and so cannot pass entirely through an object whose space is larger than its own. It can sense the presence of creatures or objects within a square adjacent to its current location, but enemies have total concealment (50% miss chance) from an incorporeal creature that is inside an object. In order to see beyond the object it is in and attack normally, the incorporeal creature must emerge. An incorporeal creature inside an object has total cover, but when it attacks a creature outside the object it only has cover, so a creature outside with a readied action could strike at it as it attacks. An incorporeal creature cannot pass through a force effect.

Might be something to houserule though, ghosts being solid after the first 5ft of solid material seems like a strange distinction to make. I mean they are already blind and deaf going through an object anyway.

Ooh, good point. I'd thought about it, but not really thought about it. The first part I knew, but the second I'd completely missed.

Could be an interesting challenge, though.

Take the challenge!

In my opinion, unless it stipulates a difference in you own spells then immune to spells does mean you are immune to your own spells.

someone who is immune to poison is immune to it no matter what. If they're bit by a spider while they sleep or drink a bottle of tequila of their own free will doesn't matter, neither affect them.

So apparently I wasted 4 hours of my life again? I think Im about done with pbp

Jimibones, don't give up on it. Just wait a bit longer, and if the game truly is dead, I'll see if I can wrangle a new GM up for us ;)

Remnant said he would mainly post Wednesday/Friday/Sunday so he only missed one, I don't think that is cause for despair just yet : )

oh thats right, i forgot this is going to be a 3 day a week game. I guess yur right then

What other game do you think would take such a monster? He is not anywhere near as bad as it can get with this level of flexibility.

You should have seen the Nightmare Nymph that was pitched in the original thread, that thing was stupendously powerful.
I had been considering switching my character to a Lamia Matriarch honestly. We seem to be pretty heavy on supernatural shapeshifting horrors between the body hopper, the zerg, the were-tiger and the science experiment.
I like the Siabrae druid concept though so I'm going to stick with it for now. Hopefully all our dueling banjos strike a right fine harmony.

I hate to admit I had totally forgotten about this thread but the Lamia Matriarch might have to show up as an encounter in our little game

you so deserve an extra EP for ideas you are giving me. A nice married couple, Lamia Matriarch and her husband a Shadow WilloWisp ;)
