Yeah, I am interested in the case, but I am also fine with modifying the normal box like I did with RotR.
I am most interested in the sleeves. I will need to see the art before I make a commitment, but I am fairly excited already. I will also need to pick up a set of Ultra Pro sleeves, since i think I have only ever used them once. I am a big fan of Dragon Shields, but this might make me change my tune. We shall see.

I'm using Ultra-Pro and really like them. Though buying the regular ones in bulk lets me get them a bit cheaper than the announced price, even with the discount. But the official licensed ones look cool, so potentially I'll grab a whole set. The announcement says "featuring key art" so I wonder if there will be a view different pieces of art. As long as there weren't too many possibilities, having a few different images wouldn't give you any knowledge of the cards, as long as you didn't try to sleeve all the cards of a type with a particular image. I'm still going to get some clear ultra-pro for the story cards. I'll actually enjoy having the skull and shackles be .5mm shorter, since they come very, very close to the top of the sleeves.
The great thing about the adventure case would seem to be that it is its own case entirely. So you could leave the divider in the box. I'm a bit of a perfectionist, so even though I put the Broken Token Divider in the RotR box, I'm refusing to throw away the original divider. Eventually (perish the thought!) a day will come where I won't be playing RotR as much (we will eventually have so many APs published). And realistically, I can't buy sleeves for the dozens of APs I'll eventually own. So I'll probably just keep one, two, or at most 3 APs sleeved. So being able to have an adventure case and still have the original box and insert for "long term" storage will be nice. I had already bought a second Broken Token insert for S&S, and given their is no announced release date for the case, I'll probably end up using it. But after that I can see it being much easier to just use an adventure case vs. buying more Broken Token inserts, as nice as they are.
The adventure mat is another thing. I'm not sure how much value I'd get out of it. When I play with Calthaer in a 6 character group, we use a turntable so everyone can rotate their character to themselves. When I play with my wife, we each play two character and sit across the table from each other. We set 3 locations to each side of the table and face them all toward the center line. Then we can reach and and read all 6. The adventure path, adventure, and scenario are just off to the side a bit. I do have a 4 player group that will probably be shrinking to 3 due to one of my brothers never having enough time to get together, so the mat might work for them. I think what I really need is to figure out the ideal table size for PACG, then for ultra-pro to make an officially licensed table of those proportions. Maybe it could have leaves that get added for more players.
Let's just be honest here, eventually I'll break down and just buy one of everything.
Now, to figure out how to get some more money for all this. What's the going rate for selling your blood? No, that won't work. I'll be too lightheaded to actually play... Hmm....

Just saw this today. Very happy to see Ultra-Pro doing more for the PACG.
I think the Adventure Mat will be area will be great. The Adventure case will be a huge help, as I sleeve all the cards for my games - both board games and card games (CCG/LCG). Because I do that the base set and add on character set barely fit. There is just no way to fit all the cards in the slots provided in the box.
I typically switch between Fantasy Flight Games' Sleeves and Ultra-Pro for standard Card Games. FFG I'll order direct, but Ultra-Pro I can get a my FLGS. I started with clear FFG Sleeves for the Pathfinder game, so likely I won't switch to their Deck Protectors.
Though to keep my Adventure Paths separate, I might try it with the Skull & Shackles set. As mentioned up thread by Hawkmoon269, "...having a few different images wouldn't give you any knowledge of the cards, as long as you didn't try to sleeve all the cards of a type with a particular image." Clear Sleeves for Rise of the Rune Lords, and the PACG Deck Protectors for Skull & Shackles. Just makes it easier to mix in/out down the line and with all the cards sleeved the same for a set. I'll keep the Character/Location Cards clear though.
Definitely will pick up the Ultra-Pro Character Mat sets. I think some of the characters will be the same from Rise of the Rune Lords, so it will be interesting to see if they use new art on the mats for Skull & Shackles. On a positive note, having the repeat of characters gives you an opportunity to try two of the same type - like two Fighters.
Anyway, 'nuff said. Thanks Paizo & Ultra-Pro for doing this.

Sell your plasma. You get a little less, but you can do it far more often. I'm glad to see I'm not the only person who refuses to throw out the original insert after getting a sleeve-compatible one (not that I've gotten one yet, and probably won't now that the case is announced, but I had planned to).
I'm likely going to end up with a case for every AP I buy, and sleeve them all. Because I can't just sleeve one, and there's no way I'm sleeping and then later unsleeving entire Adventure Paths repeatedly. The double side cards (characters, AP, Adventures, and Scenarios) will get thrown into high quality UltraPro clearbacks, since I've gotta pick some up for one of my MTG decks anyways. The rest will be in the Kyra/Valeros/Ezren sleeves (assuming the image I saw elsewhere was real)

There are some (lowish-quality) photos of a prototype Adventure Mat and a pack of Deck Protectors in this article from ICv2. (the mat is having some details changed slightly prior to production, and the sleeves may change slightly as well... but the general design you see will remain.)

The artwork of the iconic character will be the same illustration by Wayne Reynolds, but the mat design is specific to Skull & Shackles.

Any chance Ultra Pro will be making some kind of deck box for carrying your class deck in? I'm assuming the product itself will be in the cardboard box much like the adventure decks. A nice deck box with a divider to separate my character & character deck from the rest of the boons in the class deck would seem like a nice accessory.

Hawk, why do you have to make me think about things like this? Now I will have to custom craft or re-purpose something for all of my class decks. Hmm...

I'm just trying to make sure you don't get ready to go to your first Organized Play session and suddenly realize you have no method to neatly transport your class deck.
Ultra Pro already has a non-PACG version that looks like it would work well. Hopefully it isn't much for them to just put a PACG design on there. Just slip something in to keep the cards separated and you are good to go.

Not sure on the final count of the class decks, was it around 100?
Class decks contain 109 cards. I suspect that you can actually fit 109 cards in the 100-card deck box, but if you can't... well, you're probably only actively playing one of the four characters in the deck, and if you leave out the character, role, and token cards for the three characters you're *not* playing, you'll have exactly 100 cards.

Press release here.
Don't forget that Pathfinder Adventure Card Game subscribers get 20% off licensed PFACG accessories from Ultra PRO at paizo.com!
This is not actually true. When I placed my pre-order, at full price, and it tacked the mat onto my next subscription shipment, yet added an additional $14.50 to the shipping. So, I'll be paying the full $25.99 and over $30 in shipping for everything. Painful...especially since CSI is selling them for $19.99 and a lot less shipping.
Hawkmoon269 |
Hmm...When I add it to my shopping cart it shows with the 20% discount ($20.79). You should contact customer service. The discount is supposed to apply. I'm sure they will take care of it for you.

That adventure case is awesome. I have been having a heck of a time managing my sleeved cards by using the box as designed plus a tool box for what does not fit.
It is sad how great that sounds? I'm so looking forward to anything that helps with storage and organization. If it works with the sleeves for the cards you could potentially start sleeving the entire set. Yey! I'm just reminded of my old gaming days where you would sleeve your entire deck. Although, I'm a little to cheap to start on that kind of project.
Any good suggestions?
Hawkmoon269 |
I'm using this to store sleeved cards until the ultra pro one is available.
Or you can build your own.

Not yet. Someone asked the other day if there was any new info and the answer was "not yet."
