Scarab Sages

Tvashtri's head abruptly cocks to the side, and his expression becomes one of puzzlement.

Knowledge (Arcana): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26

"Did anyone else just feel a chronomantic wind?" Tvashtri looks at his new companions, and then at the horizon. "No matter."

Perception: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (11) + 0 = 11

Knowledge (Geography): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20

DM: Did a week or month just, in fact, elapse?

Only if nobody does anything smarter than "spend a week looking around". ;P

Scarab Sages

It sounds like Fifteen just decided to wander off on his own and wound up charting his own fate, as it were, so I'm guessing/suggesting the answer for the rest of us is "no?"

Fifteen will follow the group if they think of a plan. Until then, he'll just keep looking under rocks.

We should probably ask someone for directions or we could end up like those three amigos who road out of that village and had to turn around and go back. I bet Prettymonk knows what we should do.

I shake my head. Evil cultist scum could be anywhere.

Well naturally we should pick a safe place to set up camp, Prettymonk. But as you said, we didn't think to go shopping for tents or other necessary gear before we left. HEY! fifteen, stop looking under every rock, you going to throw your back out doing that. Didn't you hear what Prettymonk said. We're going back to town to ask directions and buy supplies. This way everyone follow me, I know a place that give a discount if you show your adventurer's club card. Tvashtri, maybe you should wear sunscreen, or a scarf or something, that looks like it's going to itch when it heals.

I nod at the talky man.

"Fine, lead the way little one."

Scarab Sages

Tvashtri is momentarily perplexed.

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (19) + 0 = 19

Then he realizes what the little man must be referring to, and he chuckles.

"Where I come from, most are born with the blessing of 'sunscreen' embedded in their very flesh - of course," He touches his carmine-hued cheek, "even back home, I am exceptional in this regard. Where some of my ancestors came from, they had to be prepared for...much more severe weather."

So from what I have heard you are turning back?

No you are setting up camp, my bad.
Night falls, ouch.

Scarab Sages

No, I don't think that's what we're doing - I'd been picturing it as midday at the moment, in fact. I think we are, in fact, going back to town for information/supplies.

Do we have a consensus about this?

Yes, I'd like to find a shop that sells tents, sleeping rolls, and such, and then see if anyone, including myself, can Gather Information, that might narrow down our search of these "Hills" in question. I will NOT seek out the aid of anyone who introduces themselves as an "Assassin"

When you you get back about 1 km from the village you can see smoke.

"well, that certainly doesn't look good."

I smirk. The cultists obviously lured us away while they burned the town. That makes it...

(badass pause)

... Payback time.

"Save da nice ladies and da kids!" Runs back to the town as fast as possible

By the time you get back to the town it has already burned down. Images of fearsome beasts have been cut into any surviving walls.

Scarab Sages

"Oh, my. How very...thorough."

I try to place the images of the feasome beasts, if possible.

Knowledge (Arcana): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27
Knowledge (Planes): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27

I then survey and analyze the damage to the town in the hopes of revealing any clues.

Perception: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (4) + 0 = 4
Knowledge (Engineering): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12

Bugger that - Fiendish Luck reroll!

Knowledge (Engineering): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24

either this was a very small town, or those bad guys used some really amazing fire!

"Son of a crap."

The monsters are of a subset known as the Spawn of Rovagug, You can identify 1 as the Tarrasque.

Nathaniel: Yes that would have been quite impressive

Scarab Sages

Tvashtri turns - swivels, really - back to face the party.

"You said we were in pursuit of threatening a cult of Rovagug? I believe we've found them, and they have clearly made good on their threat." He gestures back to the images, using his tail like a teacher's yardstick. "See here? Rovagug's finest children, all of them - and the Tarrasque, finest of the fine. I shouldn't worry about them, though - each is one of a kind." His expression momentarily changes. "Beautiful, in their own way - uncanny feats of destructive creativity." He briefly glances down at his clockwork minion, then his head jerks sharply back to addressing the party. "I am certain their depiction here was merely a combination of religious earnestness and bluster."

"I don't suppose anyone would know where to go from here? We did come for supplies...and got a surprise. I imagine the proper thing to do would be to look for both survivors and salvage."

Perception anyone who is looking for survivors

Scarab Sages

Perception: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (2) + 0 = 2

You see buildings

Scarab Sages

I don't suppose there's any prayer of this starting up again? I was enjoying this.

Sadly no, we could use links, but there's only so much one can do

Scarab Sages

Did I miss something HOLY COW!
