Thank you RPGSS for not only providing people with the opportunity to share their talent, but mostly for helping to create an extremely friendly environment for R&D. I have met so many people through the contest who share my passion for gaming.
I am extremely honored and flattered to have made it to the round of 16 my first year trying. I am one of the few who have never been published. This gives me the confidence to send my material out and see if I can make some connections.
Lastly I want to thank all of the voters, both my fans and detractors. Without your dedication none of this would be possible. Great companies, like Paizo, create the opportunity; however it is the dedicated fans and voters who keep that opportunity alive.

Yes! All of these thoughts!
Paizo as always: Thank you all for the effort you put into this contest every year. It has been incredible to discover all these amazing new voices in the hobby in such an interactive and exciting way!
Thank you too, for the opportunities and confidence this contest has given me personally as well.

Agreed on all counts!
As someone who has no publishing credits to his name, this competition has made me consider, "Hey, maybe I DO have some design chops and maybe I COULD get published if I put myself out there more..."
Regardless of whether or not I make it to the Top 4, RPG Superstar has helped me realize that a career in freelance game design (however big or small) is a worthy and attainable goal.
I hope that everyone who has ever entered this competition feels as I do. From the moment I made it into the Top 32, I've been deeply, deeply touched and I have felt incredibly honored to be a part of this amazing experience.
Thank you to everyone--judges, voters, tech team--for your tireless work in putting this all together. The collaborative spirit of Pathfinder is alive and well in RPG Superstar and Paizo's online community at large.

Indeed. Thanks to Paizo for hosting this contest from Superstar entrants old and new. It's always a great time. If you haven't entered before, don't miss it next year. Hitting "send" is the hardest thing you have to do. Once you get past that, all kinds of possibilities open up for you, and you never know how far they might take you.

Absolutely. Great thread. I've loved this contest from the beginning and I think it is awesome. I hope that it continues and grows stronger every year. I know that the competition gets stronger every year as we all learn from our mistakes and come back to try it again. Thanks to all the judges of this year and the past, and thanks to SKR for hosting this year, and for the web crew, and everyone at Paizo who makes RPGSS what it is.
Here's to many more great RPG SuperStars in years to come!

Mikael really nailed on the head everything I'd say, too.
I additionally want to add how much of a boon RPG Superstar is from the standpoint of free advice. I don't know if there's anywhere else where you can learn more about game design in one spot.
Coming from someone familiar with trying to bust into the fiction business, that is huge. When you're trying to get published in fiction and you screw up, you get form rejection letters. You also get a form rejection if you're the wrong genre, if you're not what they're looking for, if you stapled your manuscript.
Trust me, I'd pray for a handwritten comment proving someone even read the thing, even if the comment just said "Your protagonist sucks." At least it gives you some idea of what to do.
RPGSS gives you vivid feedback on where you're going wrong, what you do well, and ample room to figure out what you could do differently.
In most creative industries, that kind of advice doesn't come for free, and it is golden. (Even if it stings a little, but growing rhino hide is pretty important, too.)

Well said Victoria.
I've learned a lot this year, both from the judges' and voters' comments, from reading other top 32/16 entries, and from trying out how stuff works myself. Mapmaking is perhaps the area of game design I knew the least about before round 3 and learned the most about during the process of creating the map. I'll gladly share my learning experience with you all after the 28th when I hopefully have a bit more time. :)

I just want to echo all the sentiments that the community has raised above. In addition to being thankful to Paizo, the open dialogue, and the learning experience, I've also found it fascinating to see how the event has grown over the years. Watching the first few years evolve as gonzo entries became more polished - with guidance from Paizo, who also seemed to be growing with the event - has provided great insight to what is expected of professional designers.

All this. Thanks to Paizo, Sean, the judges past and present, the great constellation of contestants that had gathered over the years, and everyone who has taken time to comment, critique, and vote.
This contest has got all the good things people have mentioned above going for it, it's a great gateway for discovering new designers and a magnificent opportunity for us hopefuls. Most of all, it's fun!

Sean - all the best. I'm not very deep in Paizo, PF or D&D communities, but I'm in awe of what I've seen you do here in RPG Superstar, and the huge whopping lot more I know you've done in the whole rest of the field. Thanks for finding so many awesome ways for us to have fun :) And all the best with wherever you go next!

To me, this has always been an exercise in improvement. Just thinking about magic items and how they function has helped open my eyes to new possibilities and the limitations that good game design place upon any entry. The number of items I have seen that would obviously exist in a world with magic yet would not be of any real use to a group of adventurers is an example: creating something that the players can use in their adventures over items that create wonder in the game is an important consideration that I never even realized was there!
Each round, each vote, each critique makes me a better GM and my games more fun for my players. And that is all without winning! Add in the friendship and camaraderie that seems to emerge here every year and you have something unique and very special.
Thanks to all of the Paizo staff and Sean K. Reynolds in particular for how amazingly great this contest really is! Bravo!

Perhaps, Troy Edjans, perhaps.
