Magus Warpriest Rules question.

Rules Questions

So I am thinking of building a Mystic Theurge designed for war, going Magus (bladebound) and Warpriest (ACG). And I am unsure if the Arcane Pool enchantment bonus & the Sacred Weapon enchantment bonus abilities stack correctly, given that they are both conferred abilities. According to the written rules they should as the Magus ability, Arcane Pool, is a time based (1 minute/activation) and the Warpriest, Sacred Weapon, is action based (1 round/activation).

Also in the 4th paragraph of the Sacred weapon entry it is stated that, "These bonuses stack with any existing bonuses the weapon may have, to a maximum of +5."

Any thoughts and opinions would be helpful. And an official ruling wouldn't hurt either. ;)

Hi, Bladeborne. That sounds like a fun character concept, and one I never would have thought of on my own.

How is this a PFS question, rather than a rules question?

Cool combo. I think he means to play in pfs and wants to know if he will get pfs lawyer blocked when stacking the weapon bonuses.

As for the question, could you post the exact text of the warpriest's ability? Can't do much figurin' without that. :)

While this sounds like an interesting concept, the Mystic Theurge has low BAB and will not progress either the Magus' sword, or the Warpriest's damage dice increase, and likely will end up being very ineffective in spell casting, additionally, since Warpriest and Magus both only have access to 6th level spells max, they would take longer to qualify for Mystic Theurge, and gain less out of it.

Jiggy, the ability in question,

spoilered:
At 4th level, the warpriest gains the ability to imbue his sacred weapon with divine power as a swift action. This power grants the weapon a +1 enhancement bonus. For every four levels beyond 4th, this bonus increases by +1 to a maximum of +5 at 20th level.
These bonuses stack with any existing bonuses the weapon might have, to a maximum of +5. The warpriest can imbue a weapon with any of the following weapon properties: brilliant energy, defending, disruption, flaming, frost, keen, and shock. In addition, if the warpriest is chaotic, he can add anarchic and vicious. If he is evil, he can add mighty cleaving and unholy. If he is good, he can add holy and merciful. If he is lawful, he can add axiomatic and ghost touch. Adding any of these properties consumes an amount of bonus equal to the properties base cost (see Table 15–9 of the Core Rulebook). Duplicate abilities do not stack. The weapon must have at least a +1 enhancement bonus before any other properties can be added, whether normally from itself or granted by this ability.
The warpriest can use this ability one round per day per warpriest level, but these rounds do not need to be consecutive. The enhancement bonus and properties are determined the first time the ability is used each day, and cannot be changed until the ability is used again the next day. These bonuses only apply while the warpriest is holding the weapon, and end immediately if the weapon is sheathed or leaves the warpriest’s possession. This ability can be ended as a free action at the start of the warpriest’s turn (and that round does not count against the total duration, unless the ability is resumed). If the warpriest uses this ability on a double weapon, the effects only apply to one end the weapon.

From my reading, it seems like they might stack, because both abilities say they stack with existing weapon enhancement bonuses, but I am unsure.

Can't we determine they stack simply from the text of the Arcane Pool feature itself? It already states, "These bonuses can be added to the weapon, stacking with existing weapon enhancement to a maximum of +5."

And while the archetype's Black Blade ability states that it alters the Arcane Pool, it does not state that it removes it - it only specifies that it changes the amount of arcane points you get. So it seems to me like the blade itself would gain inherent enhancement bonuses, and you could bolster those bonuses by spending arcane points as well as using Sacred Weapon.

Have you noticed the awesomeness that is the Luck blessing?

Given the fact that Warpriest weapon damage scales automatically, Kensai would be a decent Magus archetype choice as well.

You do realise that it would take a round to activate each of these abilities. So you'd have to spend two rounds buffing your weapon to get both abilities. You also have to rememnber that arcane pool points and the divine blessing pool points would NOT increase with the PrC which only advances caster level and spells per day.

Yes, they would stack. Sadly, this build would probably suffer from a lot of problems common to multiclass builds, but it is a very creative and interesting idea.
