A question and answer relevant to your interests.
Cheers. Looking forward to whatever is announced.

Me neither. I wish comics manufacturers would at least institute a further identification (like issues 1-12 volume one, issues 1-12 volume two, etcetera). Presumably the practise is designed to snare a whole bunch of new customers with a natural second beginning point in an ongoing series. It's annoying though.

Well, the title is changing, too - this is going to be Pathfinder: City of Strangers, instead of just Pathfinder.
Still, if you hate this, you should see what Zub did with Skullkickers, starting with issue #19. It was hilarious.

I got caught by that "hilarious" stunt and now don't buy skullkicker. The spike in sales suggesting they tricked many others as well.
I'm glad the title is going to change too (I similarly wouldn't mind if they were labelled by year, the way Kajehase spelled out) - what bothers me is when it's not immediately apparent which series is which or what series "Issue 4" belongs to.

I know someone who has trouble with the Magic the Gathering, trying to find out what series to buy next.
It seems like a silly short sighted way of boosting sales, when it might be just as effective to mark the cover "new story arc, great jumping on point".
And it can also backfire. Nothing in "City of Strangers" says "read this second" and I can see some people waiting for #13 and not buying CoS thinking it might be a spinoff like Goblins.
In the age of cheap digital comics and trade paperbacks, it's pretty easy to get caught up so a high number is less daunting.

It's a big problem, if you're searching for back issues from a dealer with a non-illustrated list.*
Though I'm not a big comics buyer now, I used to follow several characters who had series spread out over several volumes, each time renumbered from issue one.It reduces the confidence a buyer can put in the listing, if they have no way of ascertaining which series is being advertised.
* and even an illustrated list is problematic, when the publisher is in the habit of using variant covers.

As a point of reference, in Sweden comics also roll back to #1 at the start of a new year. So you just have #1-12 2013, and then #1-12 2014, and so on.
Quite pleased with this as the one I have the most copies of would have hit issue 1000 in 1991.
It's never been a problem for 2000AD. They've maintained weekly consecutive numbering since 1977.
I see it as a publisher showing respect for the readers, and confidence in their product, that they don't need to resort to numbering gimmicks.

Curious about this myself.
There's been some news elsewhere so it's likely just the delay between the special and the relaunch. No need to hype something that's three weeks from release.
I'm more curious about the collection. The first was out very shortly after the sixth issue and was on pre-orders prior to that issue. Surprised we haven't heard anything.

In case the powers that be didnt know, that preview announces a competition and directs people to "paizo.com/heroesofmagnimar" which obviously doesnt actually exist (yet?).

Given the name, I imagine that's the third collection. Which seems a little ahead.
