Yes, my handwriting has been called "borderline schizophrenic" by teachers in the past. I'm simply incapable of writing consistently in print or cursive and always end up with a weird hybrid of the two. I was being very careful to write clearly on the chronicles, so I think you can see why I usually prefer to type everything. My signature is fairly consistent, but I always give up somewhere in the middle of the last name and give way to a hand spasm or something. You should have seen it back when my married name was "Muckleroy". >_<
Ok... So I may be rethinking when we begin part 4. Spent some on the phone with the warranty folks and apparently they intend to replace my darling lappy with a gift card for the original purchase price. o.O
Considering I got it at a pretty good deal two years ago, I may have to shop awhile to get something comparable. So I may as well just plan to work from my tower... which means there is really no point in delaying.
So we can move forward as soon as everyone is ready, I suppose. How much time should we take before we get started?
I won a special drawing boon that worked pretty well for me. Extra Hours let me roll Day Jobs with my GM Credits at a +5 bonus, adds up. =)

Tanselle is aching to show off her new cleric powers and bring law to the more chaotic corners of Golarion! Good to go whenever you are.

![]() |

Agreed! I'm ready to jump right in!
I'll be out of town for the last half of July, just a heads up. I'll try to post whenever I have wifi, but I may end up sligtly AWOL. US data roaming is something crazy like $3/MB.

If your interested, most carriers will work with you on this. Call before you leave and you can get a short term 'nation' or 'world' package that isn't too painfully expensive and doesn't affect your long term contract.
I have to do that for work trips about once a year.
If not, my father-in-law just gets a prepaid phone at Kmart when traveling.

Ok, looks like most everyone will be ready to go by the weekend or early next week so I'll probably move forward with a soft-start soon. We've had some players go MIA, so I will need to do some re-organizing again. Alpha needs one more to make a legal table. Any volunteers to swap over?`

Dm jelly recently recruited for dwk in my thread, there were some players looking to play just part iv, iirc.
Frind will be lvl4 for next scenario (gm credit...) - one or two days to update?
-posted from a phone

![]() |

Yeah, I need a couple days to level up. IIRC, Jorag's been in this from the start, too, so he should be lvl 2 (just so it doesn't look like it's a bunch of level 1s at the Alpha table). We could probably use a front-liner.

"DM Jelly"? I had a DM called that who went mia.

DM Kludde |

I don't think that's the same guy, jorag (yours was called 'dajelly', it seems?).
I could continue playing Frindlikh, which I'd enjoy, but could equally well play use a lvl 1 or 2 instead, for team alpha.

I wish there was a better ability to scale for 7 players since, at this point, the three groups could actually be reduced to two groups of 7, which may be easier on the GM than three groups.

![]() |

I just hit Paladin 3 and will have to update my character online here. But I can do that tonight.

bluedove |

Hmm, looking over the roster, I think I can upgrade a second table to tier 3-4 this time if I move things around a bit. Unless group dynamic is more important? I am trying to preserve the groups and spread the gold around as best I can. ^_^
I'll soft shoe us in to give everyone the time they need. I can do a little RP vamping if necessary. ^_~
I'm also contemplating running an adventure path PbP for PFS credit. I have access to Council of Thieves, or I may invest in something else... Is that something y'all might be interested in?

Shifty |

Personally, I am off doing Adventure path pbps as they take years and a missing player or dispute with a gm and the thing derails rapidly.
If I may, I'd recommend something snappier like dragons demand, thorn keep, or maybe even tears at bitter manner. Modules also work well given their shorter nature.
I don't want to sound negative, but either get a group that is 100% rock solid tried and true and prepare to spend around two years smashing it out or think twice :p

handle animal to teach Sithiss a trick: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Carp! DC=20 to teach it track.
I replaced the 2 holy water that I used and bought the partial wand of detect secret doors. I'm still deciding if I want to buy more or save.

![]() |

As someone who is running three AP's online right now... I can't really disagree with Shifty. Players drop out and lose interest with boring regularity. And that's with close friends as players.
Even modules can be too long for many of my short-attention-span friends to play online, but for this group that is probably a better bet than an AP.

bluedove |

I do understand the challenges, which is why I say I'm contemplating it rather than definitely planning on it. I won't be ready to jump into that until we are done with part 4 for sure. I like the shorter scenarios for the same reasons you do, but I also miss the deeper role-playing you get to do in a longer scoped campaign, which was why I went for a series. I think it's gone well, but I'm greedy and I still want more. =D
I'm the kind of GM that will go as far with custom plot-lines and character development as my players want to go, so yes, I am talking about a long term engagement here. I'd probably prefer we take the route of drawing characters up just for the adventure path, and I'll generate chronicles to be applied to a PFS character of your choice rather than play with PFS characters, just in case you were worried about it tying your characters up.
But I am currently playing in a nearly year old Kingmaker campaign. We've lost a GM and a PC in that time and replaced them and kept on trucking. I feel like all it takes is a GM and some core players who are committed to the game and you can surmount any problem. Biggest danger for me is if my players turn apathetic or I suffer a creative burnout, so players that really want to play (and role-play and develop the character) are key to success for me. Hence the current chumming of the waters and see if I stir up any interest. ^_^

![]() |

I would suggest something like The Dragon's Demand if you want to try something longer but have GM freedom while giving out PFS credit. It goes from level 1 to level 5 or 6 and is open for campaign mode play for PFS credit.

Shifty |

Just to give some perspective, the long term slightly deviated ap of rise of the runelords I am in which had a dedicated gm and a bunch of really committees multiple a day posters took almost three years to get half way into. Unfortunately it just kicked the bucket.
APs are fantastic, but hard enough face to face where you can resolve things quickly.
On the other hand, I have been running a pretty solid pfs campaign made up of scenarios that have a meta plot and multiple story arcs and this has provided us the depth of play you suggest whilst allowing us to chop and change a bit depending on player availability.
I love the idea, but after putting in years of dedicated play on them I am yet to finish nor even come close a single ap. which sucks because I have now played too much to begin over and wait years to get back up to fresh material and play as though I don't know what is going on.

![]() |

I'd be willing to try an AP that you're running, bluedove.
I've felt the same as Shifty about APs, but I also miss the congruous storyline of a longer campaign. I don't know where he gets the two-year timeline, though. :)
I got started in about 3 APs that began in late 2010 that look like they're still going on. PCs in them are currently 4th level, 5th level, and 12th level. So 3.5 years on, and still a ways to go.
Are there any modules that can be linked together to make a mini-AP? I know Crypt of the Everflame had a couple follow-ups (and if you did want to do the Everflame series, I wouldn't mind giving Raven Vargidan a revival).

As far as I know, only one ap has ever completed on the paizo boards, took two years of hardcore balls to the wall posting from all accounts. Gm feral I think.
Hence two years :)

![]() |

I think I would probably have to agree with Shifty. I am in one AP so far, and it almost died - with an AWOL GM and then several discouraged players leaving - without making more than a scenario or so in.
I would suggest trying something like Crypt of the Everflame or Murder's Mark, which are Tier 1-2. I would suggest The Godmouth Heresy, but I'm already in one of those. ;-)
Dragon's Demand and Thornkeep are more like mini-APs. Thornkeep, in addition to other problems IMO, really needs a few other modules now and then to bring the characters up to the suggested levels for later parts.
Fangwood Keep is levels 3-5 and it is harder to find PFS characters at those levels.

Ooooooh, I am so very in.
Also, for the table lists, Tresca is Alchemist 2

![]() |

Ka is ready. I would step into group Alpha as you required, but it seems they are already a druid and a cleric, so it would be probably best for a melee or a tanker to move there. Your call.

![]() |

Well you played with me in Ordinary Heroes Bluedove, I hope thats a sort of indication of commitment. If nothing else, ive yet to be the one to go missing in any of the games ive been in. That honor has usually fallen to the GMs. So really, its all on you whether it lives or dies in my book ;)
Im willing to brave the challenge if you will have me. Just to be clear, are we rolling up characters specifically for whatever AP you settle on, or using our current ones? Either is fine with me.

![]() |

You know I'd love to play and that I'm fairly committed...and that's one problem for me because I've committed to playing another huge campaign idea and don't want to overcommit again!

bluedove |

The statement I put in bold implies I have some option of running an AP face to face, but I don't. Everyone is too busy getting together to play the short scenarios! And you may remember how disillusioned I was with playing with whomever just shows up. =/ *cough*murder-hobos*cough*
So basically, if I'm ever going to run an AP... it will have to be in an online format. I'm pretty sure I'm not going to fall out of love with this gaming venue, so I think I'm a good candidate to try.
But, don't think I'm twisting anyone's arm! =P
I am making note of those who are interested. But which AP (or module, maybe) is still up for discussion so the suggestions are helpful. I love to play up the creep factor, so I'm eyeing Mummy's Mask. Is there anyway to look up how much "PFS sanctioned content" is in them?
I'm attempting to draw in a few more players and we'll begin part 4 this weekend. As for advice on what to purchase, all I can really say is expect more of what you've seen thus far!

![]() |

Hey Jamie - Grim's stats are complete. I will have his armor magically enchanted to be +1! This should be good for the next adventure!
I added Weapon Focus (Greatsword) for the feat I missed when I created him, and added Furious Focus for the level up! Now he Power Attacks with a 2-handed weapon without the attack penalty!! Add Overhand Chop and he's a monster (+10 to hit, +11 damage!)

I'll say that the murderhoboing has greatly reduced in my area since a year ago. I think the fact that we play a lot of season 4 and 5 and there are definitely disadvantages to just being a murderhobo, that it has calmed down. Hopefully it will in your area, as well, bluedove. We do still have a few, but when you have a table of six and only one hobo, you can typically hold that one back. I felt like I was winding up a top at one table, because I was holding the hobo back, and then I released it and let him go and he was like a buzzsaw. Worked out well, he had fun, there was some good RP, and we did well in the scenario (didn't win though, stupid specials and a table full of GMs who had run it already knowing all the ways to win)

bluedove |

Ok, I found us some fresh blood and needed to reorganize the parties. My apologies for flip-flopping PCs again, but I thought bumping another table to tier 3-4 would be worthwhile. Alpha will be still be tier 1-2, but Beta and Gamma will run tier 3-4.
This is the re-ordering for Part 4:
Alpha Team (1-2 tier)
---------------------------------
1) Selter Sago de'Morcaine PFS - Druid 3
2) Ka - Cleric 2
3) Maedhros Nargothrond - Arcanist 1
4) Kurse - Oracle 2 - ready
5) Kūtayak Shîkrya - Tengu Summoner 1 (PC and eidolon are melee focused)
Beta (3-4 tier)
---------------------------------
1) Tanselle Bashar - Gunslinger 1/Cleric 1
2) Tresca Versei - Alchemist 2
3) Grimaldus - Fighter 3
4) Odo the Bold - Paladin 3
5) Oronia Cumprianas - 3rd level
6) Logain Xanatus - lvl 3 magus'
Gamma (3-4 tier)
---------------------------------
1) 'Hellion' Svetlana Irriseni - Fighter 3
2) Li Shuo - Zen Archer/ Qinggong Monk 3
3) Frindlikh Ardig - Rogue 4
4) Otiophon - Paladin 2
5) Jorag - Cleric 2
6) Marco Vail - Sage Sorcerer 2
Working on the opening post now!

I'm sure if I went to more events, I'd have a better track record... but I live in East Texas where the events are tiny and often held in restaurants or comic book stores. And see a lot of "stoic tough-guy" personas being role-played in person. Some with such enticing personality quirks as "eats everything he kills" and "opportunistic rapist". This seems to be in an attempt to trump each other on the most savage character.
Feh... personally I like the results I get when people have a minute to think about what their PC will say/do. Plus I don't have to use fuel, spend money on food and drink and generally be uncomfortable and eager to come back home. =/
Ok, opening posts are up, but double check your table assignment above. The following characters are moving:
Ka (already checked in)
Maedhros Nargothrond
Kurse
Jorag
Marco Vail
Once everyone has checked into the new table, I'll edit you out of the old one so you won't have two active.
