Boosting a naked guy's AC

Advice

He's not technically naked, but if you wanted to stay with just light armor and had about 2,000 to 3,000 gp with Craft Wondrous Items and Craft Magical Arms and Armor, what could you do to improve his armor class?

He's already equipped with a +1 amulet of Natural armor, +1 longspear, and +1 buckler, but I'm considering ditching the buckler to improve the longspear to make it a defender.

But what are other ideas that give better bang for the buck? Not conditional or temporary armor like spells or mutagens, but physical materials.

Thanks

Is cross classing an option? You can dip a level into alchemist for the +4 dex and +2 nat AC from mutagen.

Ring of Protection, of course.

Jingasa of the Fortunate Soldier gives +1 Luck AC I think.

Dodge.

Increasing your Armor enhancement and Dex.

A little more info would be useful. Like class, level, what armor your wear, and additional requirements.

If you are proficient with medium armor, then you could save up your money to get a mithral breastplate, for a 'lightish' armor. The next money should go in an enhancement bonus to said armor.

If you have to use an actual light armor, getting that enchanted should be your first priority in spending gold, as that is the cheapest way to +1 or +2 AC.

Edited my original post to exclude temp bonuses.

Jingasa would be nice if not for that ridiculous level 8 spell component we don't have access to. (Yes I'm aware of the +5 to DC for missing components).

He's already got Dodge. Maybe a belt that boosts Dex, those are Wondrous Items.

If he's a spellcaster, Mage Armor and Shield go without saying.

If he's not a spellcaster, maybe scrolls of the above with UMD?

Protection from Evil gives a +2 to AC. Use a nearby caster.

Magic Circle Against Evil (cleric 3, paladin 3, sorcerer/wizard 3) gives a 10-foot-radius ProtEvil. Once again, if he's a low-level fighter maybe a summoned creature or a nearby caster can help him?

Why worry about AC? He's already invisible.

For just Physical Materials...

Monk's Robe
Snakeskin Tunic
Ring of Protection
Bracers of Armor
Belt of Incredible Dexterity
Also if your class gives you AC based off of a Modifier(Wis for example) then a headband or belt of (that mod) would help.
Amulet of Natural Armor
Ring of Force Shield

That is all that comes to my mind initially for what you asked.

Stuff that gives evasion/miss chance is helpful too.

I know putting armor on would probably be the cheapest but I like exotic options and crowdsourcing tends to reveal material I am not aware of like the snakeskin tunic and jingasa.

A cloak of displacement would be sweet, but too expensive at this point.

I am a bit confused. Are you going with no armor, or are you going with light armor, as initially stated?

What are your class an level?

if you're not going with an AC granting class feature that requires you to not wear any armor, you can get a bit of cheap extra armor by using a haramaki. That basically doesn't even look like armor has none of its penalties (except for the aforementioned class feature types) and is cheap. In that way its better than taking bracers of armor. Because for barely any extra cost (153 gp for a masterwork haramaki) you get one more point of AC than from bracers.
It doesn't stack with mage armor though. (but neither do bracers)

He comes from a culture that respects stealth and speed, hence a low STR and CON.

He has leaf armor acquired from some past encounter and the party treasury has a suit of armor he has used in an emergency when we knew we were going to fight a dragon but it encumbers him without a strength boost.

Good old Crane Style if he has dodge; fight defensively. The problem is keeping up damage doing that and such. Ultimately if you are running around naked and not a monk and have low con life will suck for you; you can do some magic to keep things moderate, but at mid-to-high levels you'll be hit on a 2+ anyway.

if you go crane style don't forget picking up at least 3 ranks of acrobatics for one extra point of AC while fighting defensively.

Yeah, monk is the class that excels nude. Each time I build one to high-ish levels, I'm always pleasantly surprised by their high AC. Otherwise, the tips of cranestyle+fighting defensively is good. But short of being a monk, or boosting your dex, your options are fairly limited. I agree that the low con will make it hard for you on the front line.

Tiefling (maw and tail)
Barbarian (Savage and Urban Archetypes)

14, 17, 14, 9, 10, 10

1. Armour of the pitt (+2 AC), 3. Weapon Finesse
11. Combat Reflexes

Rage Powers: 2. Lesser Chaos Totem, 4. ?, 6. Chaos Totem, 8. ?, 10. Greater Chaos Totem, 12. Come and Get Me (extra attacks from your huge dex)

1st level AC: 17 (19 with rage)
+2 nat armour, +2 shield (or large gauntlet), +3 dex, +2 dex rage)

Easy +4 AC with a mage armour wand and dangerously curious!
+1 AC if 2 or more people adjacent (and attack rolls)-urban barbarian.
+1 AC vs lawful at 2nd,6th and 10th (lesser chaos totem)
DR from 10th

Savage Barbarian: +1 AC at 3rd,7th,9th,10th,13th,15th,16th,19th
and +1 from rage at 11th and 20th

6th: 25% immune crits and sneak attacks
10th: DR 5 (lawful) and weapons strike as chaotic

As for damage: 2 attacks from 1st will keep you competative

Get yourself a quick draw shield (make it throwing as well) and don't forget your tail can draw handy items like wands.

You will be unique unlike the unimaginative lawful totem (beast) barbarians who all follow the same build.

Will actually be a barbarian (naked/heroic/embody chaos)
Rebrand the urban barbarian as the 'cold eyed berserker' or 'dead eyed berserker' a barbarian with internalised rage!
"Some berserkers even cackled or howled like animals, but the most intimidating ones were those that remained completely silent. [3] These warriors were said to be entirely without emotion, rendered nothing more than engines of death"

Also works if you want to be hellboy!

Though to be hellboy, you would need to add in a big bad gun too...

Is he human or dwarf? If so, take the ironhide feat (you will need the racial heritage feat as well, if human) followed up with the improved natural armor feat a couple of times.

It worked well for me.

I'm going to give a leftfield suggestion: Hat of Disguise. If they have no reason to attack you, your AC is just fine. And for that little money, a chance at total avoidance is better than a +1 or maybe a +2 at best. Some scrolls of Mirror Image are probably a good complement.
