Lighting Torches Fast

Advice

Sczarni

I'm interested in making a barbarian who fights with torches. Is there any way to light a pair of torches relatively quickly?

Tindertwigs reduce the lighting to a standard action, but that's two rounds just to get armed. Is there any way to do this faster?

Lantern Lodge

Hmm i honestly dont think so. The only character ive had that ever bothered lighting things on fire used the spark spell. I suppose you can quicken a spark spell as well but i highly doubt you would want to invest in doing that.

Are enchanted torches out of the question?

Or perhaps clubs of flaming? :P

alchemical fire sets flammable things on fire, so drop one on both torches.

Why not use battle poi from the Adventurer's Armory?

Just so you aware though, this is mechanically a terrible idea.

Grand Lodge

Well, you could just light the torches and carry them with you, or light one torch and carry it lit. You will go through a lot of torches, but they are cheap.

The Exchange

Ever burning torches....well if you like illusionary fire.

I'm sure a custom magic item could be made, or get the GM to enchant them like weapons.

The Exchange

Draw on the existing alchemy rules for things like tindertwigs and flash paper to settle on a price for "self-ignition torches" that you can treat much like very large tindertwigs and you should be all set.

Incidentally, a two-weapon-fighting barbarian will get more damage out of twin torches if he treats them as improvised weapons (and takes Catch Off-Guard to avoid nonproficiency problems), but if you use that method, adding the 1 point of fire damage is a matter of GM discretion, not rules-as-written.
