Just as Glimmmil's wounds from the giant begin to knit, he finds himself once again subject to another lightning bolt, delivery method (face).

Glancing down, the gnome is relieved to see that yet again, Cog escapes evil magic-doing unharmed.

Straightening his helm, he contemplates another charge before realizing that not only his wounds severe, but the wounds of Toffitt and Finneas as well.

"Garl! Heal my friends! Do what Cuthbert can do, too!"

Yes. I hadn't noticed Toffitt had another trick in his repetoire. However, since you made me go back and recalculate, it turns out I had forgotten to 1.5 the strength bonus so I'm going to call it a wash for now rather than figure out all the attacks.


Toffitt barely slips between the giant's legs, but is unable to cut through the giant's thick skin. He also misses out on Glimmil's channel. Finneas lands two blows and fells the giant.

Atol stands up (move), converts a Pilfering Hand to a Cure Moderate Wounds for 2d8 + 10 ⇒ (3, 6) + 10 = 19, and touches Finneas.

Dyrant flies to S26 and glares at the Rakshasa, feeling the holy glow of St.Cuthbert.

Seeing the giant fall Finneas lets out a shout before tumbling to the ground.

Despite filling the entire passage the tunnel's gag reflex saves the half-orc from the worst of the bolt. Letting his rage fade he heals some of the burns and cuts as he stands.

Here's the requested ride check. Not sure what the DC is? It's DC5 to stay in saddle, but is the DC for this higher, like the DC for the CMB check?

Ride: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (6) + 14 = 20

In case Glimmil does dismount, he will attempt a swift mount to get back onto Cog.

Ride Swift Mount DC20: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (5) + 14 = 19

Blarg, so if he was dismounted, he uses a move action to scramble back onto Cog.

If he was dismounted, he will ride a single move action forward to Q,25. Otherwise, he will use a run action (if possible) or double move forward. Cog can cover 7 squares normally, so depending on which Chris allows, he ends up at J,25 or C,25.

Glimmil retrieves out his bow as he advances.

We're still in Round 5, time travelers. :-p Also, sorry I have been failing at my own pet peeve: posting which square I end my turn in. Round 4 should have been P26, so Toffitt started Round 5 in Q26.


Everyone waits for Atol to channel before rushing off. Toffitt dashes down the cooridor and cuts off the rakshasa. Dyrant follows close behind and blinds the rakshasa. Having finished off the giant, Finneas pauses to heal himself before rejoining the combat. Glimmil heals himself while Cog rushes them up to the combat.

The rakshasa swings blindly Toffitt and fails to touch him most times, let alone penetrate his armor. The rakshasa does shake off the blindness after this though.

Just to clarify: the rakshasa was prone on his turn. Toffitt has see invisibility. Unclear about whether the rakshasa would have been moved by the regurgigation, since his CMD was at -4 from Evil Eye and he was prone. Don't know if Toffitt got an AoO in there somewhere, given the different unknowns.

Atol tries to halt the rakshasa, but the spell has little affect on the him. Toffitt swings twice, but misses. Finneas stands up and moves to loom over their opponent. Cog misses twice and will need miss chances in the future. He knows which square, but the 50/50 still applies. Glimmil manages to just barely land his first blow.

As the party rumbles so does the tunnel. Atol is rolled forward to the feet of the rakshasa, but the rakshasa flees down the tunnel.

Dyrant huzzahs, taking only a moment to cast Detect Magic so that he can continue his good cheer at Toffitt's strike while scanning for magic on the Rak and Giant.

"Good work, Toffitt. You have the soul of a Cuthbertine at times."

Dyrant will keep afloat while he concentrates on auras.

Toffitt looks grimly down at the rakshasa's body. A cleaner death than Lukhaj's. You did not deserve it. He picks up the rakshasa's corpse and begins trudging back to the tunnel's entrance. "Our competition is dead. Let us go back outside and rest."


The rakshasa's kukri is magical (just +1). The fire giant has non-magical half-plate and a greatsword. The rakshasa has a familiar scroll (plane shift).

Again, the tunnel will continue to vomit. Is the party going up with the flow or down back to the acid pool?

Atol returns to the party and agrees with the Doctor. "I think we should head out of this rolling tunnel and heal at least, then take stock and plan our next move."

Atol will take the scroll of plane shift if no one else minds. He'll add it to the others he carries.

Once outside, he'll give the touch of St. Cuthbert to all who need it.

"Who needs additional healing? I have a few first and second level spells left I can convert, and of course the wand if I run completely dry." Atol grins through his sweat and blood.

He converts an Ant Haul to a Cure Light Wounds for 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7 for himself.

Presuming we're going to rest for the day now that we're not rushing to catch up to anyone, that should be enough to top you off with an overnight of healing.

Glimmil and Cog roll out of the vomiting tunnel like a pound of bad satay from a fevered half-orc wrestler.

The gnome rubs his hands together, and cheerfully looks about the abyssal plane in which they seem to be spending so much time.

"Well, that does it for our competition, right? Smooth sailing to complete the last test now. I hope we don't see that big baddie again. If we do, I think he needs some serious reprimanding for trying to use the Cauldron Five as his pawns."
