Interesting: admirably cute, but imagine the abuse...lol

I absolutely despise those things which force other characters to do something like dance. It violates one of the primary rules of good Role Play - you always describe your character's actions, not their effects on other characters.

So one of the things I would like to see at launch is variety in weapons and how to use them.

People should be encouraged to use different weapons. While everyone might not use every different weapon, a game where everyone uses a longsword or a greataxe is not fun. People should be encouraged to use axes, hammers, flails...etc.

Using two weapons, two handed weapons, or sword and board need to all be useful.

The other side of this is that using a one handed weapon and shield should be just as viable as using two handed high damage weapons. Please include abilities that use shields. Active defenses and also attacks.

Some examples of attacks:

Shield bash - basically hit the opponent with your shield doing damage

Shield Slam - hit opponent with shield doing less damage than bash but knocking them down

Shield combo - Hit an enemy with your shield, lowering their defenses, and strike with your weapon, doing increased damage. Variations could be to stun or slow your opponent.

Duck behind - requires large shield, worked best with tower shield, you duck behind your shield and greatly increase your defense.

Stand Your Ground - Requires tower shield - plant your tower shield and lean into it. You are unable to move but your defense against knockback attacks is greatly increased.

Cover - Movement is slightly reduced and defense against melee attacks reduced. Defense against ranged attacks increases.

Warded Shield - requires warded shield - activate the wards on your shield. You are able to block ranged magical attacks (rays, fireball...etc) for a short period of time. With high enough skill and a mirror shield spells can be reflected.

Shield charge - Requires tower shield - in a rare offensive use of a tower shield you charge at an opponent full speed hitting them will a wall of steel knocking them down and stunning them for a short time. basically it could be an initiator.

Shield expert - Increases the defensive and offensive benefits of using a shield.

Things like that. While its expected that there will be many attacks, special attacks, cc that is based on weapons, i hope that there can be the same thing for using shields.

People shouldnt feel like they have to use a greatsword in order to compete.

My expectations for the launch would be to be positively surprised by a game that have collected the essence of role-playing tabletop game. The opportunity the choose between a straight forward gaming style or a more deceiving strategic plotting ingenious preplanned complex game style. To me it's all about the first 30 seconds which makes me love or hate the game. I hope creativity and innovation will be rewarded in the game play.

On the other hand, a publicly accessibly 'Player Log' will allow players to actively find who is being a giant douche-bag and respond accordingly.

I will say this ... a 'Player Log' should have some form of 'ghost system' to it, otherwise Assassinations and Bounty-Hunting could become problematic if figuring out who sank three foot of steel into your spine is just an alt-tab and a google-search away ..

There seems to be general agreement that a combat log showing the individual player what happened is helpful to that player. But killboards and public combat logs have been co-opted by griefers to see who can out do who in the noob ganking and griefing category. I haven't seen a poll recently, but most people I talk to in the gaming community despise killboards.

All I would like to see is a well done and well maintained system for spell-casting. Most systems I've tested or seen before fall very short of what was capable in pathfinder tabletop.

In addition I would like to see necromancy handled correctly and closely to what was capable in pathfinder. Making them cast DoTs and have a single pet is far from what I would consider a powerful/fun necromancer.

It's not something I feel we need at the launch of EE but I agree that necromancy is something seldom done right. The only necromancers I've really enjoyed playing in an MMO were one in the original Guild Wars. A necromancers could build up a truely massive force of minions before they implemented a limit of 10, but they died super easy, and other necromancers could take control of them very easily. I had a Ranger/Necro I was very fond of that had 7 ranger abilities and nearly all his points invested in ranger trees, but his 8th ability seized control of all nearby undead. They didn't last long under my control but it really ruined a minion master's day when he charges a ranger with his minion horde and they all suddenly turn on him.

Ideally I would like to see minions work in much the same way I'd like to see pets work. perhaps without the need of training, slower loyalty decay for controlling too many, and the ability to equip them with gear.

I want Easter Eggs.

I second both the better necromancy and the easter eggs!

At Launch ... might not be possible...

A friend of mine was able to Log into his SWTOR account and Run his Crafting thru his Ipad. He could not actualy play the game but he was able to Que up his Training/Crafting. It might be a Nice Option in PFO to be able to manage your Pathfinder Training and "setelment" thru an Tablet or Low end device.

Ryan said something quite awhile ago referencing the ability to interface with the game via smartphone/ipad. Perhaps someone has a ready reference...

*grins* I'm sure you mean Jazzlvrazz. If he doesn't beat me to it, I can probably dig up something... relevant... :)

@Being - It means that you have a device on your person at all times and you may wish to interact with the game via that device at any time. And the game world may reach out and interact with you on that device at any time as well.

I'm not saying that we port the game to run on a bunch of different platforms. I'm saying that there's a mode of interaction that's appropriate for someone with a smartphone. There may be an enhanced mode of interaction for someone on a tablet.

Most MMOs have text chat. Most MMOs have Guild Chat. Does any MMO have a chat client that runs on your smartphone so you can be a part of Guild Chat when you're not logged in? This technology is ancient. Yet as far as I know, none of the mainstream AAA Theme Parks let you do this.

Some games (EVE, I'm looking at you) have incredibly rich markets. Does anyone have a Bloomberg style app for those markets that runs on a smartphone or a tablet? Can I place buy and sell orders like I can on Fidelity?

Farmville showed us one mode of asynchronous Sim game that works with social networks and mobile devices. Many MMOs have significant Sim type elements that are hard to manage in a 3D avatar-centric world. Why not have a whole different interface, on a different platform, for managing those kinds of game systems?

When a major event happens, how do I know? If my fortress comes under attack, does the game send me a text message or email? If my buddies are looking for a certain character for a group event, can they tell me to log in and join up? Why is there so much useful social activity that stops at the perimeter of the game client - when we know that essentially all the customers have devices in their pockets that could be used to engage them at need?

That's the kind of thinking that needs to be updated for a post-PC world.
