Hi folks,
As so often happens, we've lost one of our players in our ongoing run of Tom Moldvay's Classic "The Lost City" and are therefore looking to recruit one player who might be interested in playing a divine caster.
You can find character creation rules in the Original Recruitment Post.
Current PCs include a human diviner, a half-orc barbarian, a halfling rogue, a human ranger, and a human fighter.
If you like writing fun, interactive prose and enjoy classic Original D&D modules, why not submit a character to join us?
Submissions will be accepted until Friday, December 15th at 8 PM Pacific Time, and which point I'll make my decision. Preference given to interesting, well thought-out personalities.

We post new submissions here's?
Rolling stats
4d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 2, 2) = 9
4d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 4, 3) = 15
4d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 4, 4) = 18
4d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 5, 4) = 17
4d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 1, 1) = 10
4d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 2, 2) = 10
8, 9, 9, 13, 14, 15
So core divine casters are paladin and cleric right?
I'll go cleric as you seem to have melee sorted with the fighter and barbarian.
Dwarven Cleric (Ruins domain) with an interest in archeology? He'd second as a doctor with curing wounds, because he is technically a Doctor, as in has a doctorate but in archeology not medicine.
If Ruins isn't allowed seeing as I can't find a god of that domain then it'll be Travel (exploration) probably of Abadar or Artifice with Torag.
Ruins seems more flavor relevant.

Divine casters are my Jam and I have a cleric of Gorum I've been wanting to try out. Are archetypes allowed? How far are you into the module?
4d6: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 1, 2) = 12
4d6: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 1, 3) = 12
4d6: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 6, 2) = 12
4d6: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 1, 4) = 10
4d6: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 2, 1) = 7
4d6: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 3, 6) = 16
Gold: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 4, 5) = 17

We post new submissions here's?
Yes, please.
So core divine casters are paladin and cleric right?
A druid would be fine too, although one focused on nature underground would be more useful.
Ruins seems more flavor relevant.
True, but the Ruins domain is not from the Core Rulebook, so it's not allowed.
Are archetypes allowed? How far are you into the module?
Nope, as they are not from the Core Rulebook. We are not far into the module.

You definitely need a Cleric. Let's see if I can get the stats for it.
4d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 3, 3) = 14 11
4d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 5, 3) = 18 15
4d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 3, 2) = 17 15
4d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 1, 3) = 14 13
4d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 6, 5) = 18 16
4d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 2, 1) = 10 9
The answer is yes.
Edit: Forgot to roll for wealth
4d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 1, 2) = 12 120g
Peet |
OK, rolling now and if you want to veto it, that's okay.
WIS: 4d6 - 4 ⇒ (5, 4, 5, 4) - 4 = 14
CON: 4d6 - 3 ⇒ (3, 4, 6, 4) - 3 = 14
DEX: 4d6 - 2 ⇒ (4, 2, 4, 3) - 2 = 11
STR: 4d6 - 3 ⇒ (4, 3, 6, 5) - 3 = 15
CHA: 4d6 - 1 ⇒ (5, 5, 1, 3) - 1 = 13
INT: 4d6 - 1 ⇒ (6, 3, 5, 1) - 1 = 14
Hmmm... a workable if perhaps overly MAD array.
I think I would go with a dwarven cleric of Nethys.
Magic domain & Defense subdomain.
Wealth: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 3, 3) = 17 170 gp to start.
Peet |
Oh, wait... just realized if this is core-only then subdomains are off the table. That makes things harder.
Would you allow a cleric that is not associeated to a specific deity (as in the CRB):
If a cleric is not devoted to a particular deity, she still selects two domains to represent her spiritual inclinations and abilities (subject to GM approval).

I'm tempted to submit a character as I have never actually played a character in this game, though I have run it once and am part way through running it again (with a lot of my own changes).
Hmmm... maybe. :)
How do you feel about that?
I'm fine with that.
Would you allow a cleric that is not associeated to a specific deity (as in the CRB):
Yup, that would be fine as well.

Well, blessed be, but I really like both submissions. So in the spirit of the season, and with a hat tip to the mega-parties of yore ("The Lost City" was designed for 6-10 players!), I would like to invite you both to join the game.
Peet, obviously you'll have to keep your OOC knowledge of the adventure to yourself, but then again, I'm also changing a lot, so perhaps your info will not be as relevant.
We will assume that both PCs will have been in the party from the beginning. Peet and Lazyclownfish, if you would please read the IC thread of the game so far to familiarize yourself with what the party has already gone through. You can join us as soon as you've caught up.
