As a native Idahoan living in Seattle, I really miss snow.
as a native of wisconsin that spent 5 years in seattle then moved back to wisconsin, i can honestly say snow was not on the list of things i missed :) rapidly changing weather patterns and lightning yes, not snow:) maybe its the 7 months of winter we have here:)
i did not miss all the drunk drivers, domestic violence and overly nosy people (AKA "midwestern hospitality" fyi they are only being nice as a subtle form of interrogation:)i love wisconsin, just not the people:)

Well, regardless of our individual preferences for frozen water (my preference is for it to be in my drink and nowhere else), the Mummy's Mask Adventure Path will not feature snow on a sphinx unless a PC makes that happen. Consider this something to add to your player's achievement board. ;)
.
Challenge Accepted.Although, to be honest, I am almost guaranteed to be running this one. One of my best friends is an outrageous Egyptophile & I know she is gonna want to play, which she doesn't get to do so much any more.

I had pretty much decided that a Winter Witch wouldn't be a good choice for this AP. You have convinced me otherwise.

Don't read too much into my statement. I was just trying to Kajehase the snow-covered sphinx he requested for Christmas. :)
Oh I know. Before, a Winter Witch just seemed silly. Now, it still seems silly, but there is a compelling* reason to play one.
*Not guaranteed to actually be compelling.

I may throw in a snow-covered sphinx just to prove Adam wrong in public. :)
Unfortunately, however, the snow-covered sphinx photo is a fake.

In my defence, when I linked it in the Ask James Jacobs thread I did point out that it hadn't been proven a fake yet.
(It did really snow in Egypt, though. Just not on the sphinx.) :D

For all you wanting a wintry moment in Osirion, consider this fun idea:
While waiting for Mummy's Mask, run your players through Reign of Winter, but change the geography of the opening book to take place in Osirion (the Underdunes make a great substitute for the wooded hills of Taldor.)
A winter portal open in the elemental-touched Underdunes with mephits, small elementals, maybe even a young Heirachosphinx to replace the Tatzlwyrm or giant mantis encounters!
Then, when you run Mummy's Mask the locals can still be talking about that time it snowed in the desert :D

What are your plans for the fiction section in Mummy's Mask?
We are still including the Pathfinder's Journal like we have since the very first Pathfinder Adventure Path. However, what we have planned is closer to the first few APs' fiction sections. There is still a story for the folks that love the fiction, but we are making it more closely tied to the Adventure Path and changing up the look of it. That way it will have things GMs can use as hand outs (hand-drawn maps, naturalist's sketches, etc.) to better immerse the players in the lands of Osirion.

This might be a silly question, but will there be a lot of traps to overcome/ puzzles to solve? I kind of want to make an Archivist Bard/ Pathfinder Delver who would be a good explorer/trap finder, but if there aren't that many traps and puzzles it would be disappointing. But if there are then I'm very excited for this AP!

Yeah, I've bought odds and ends here and there too, but this is what got me to subscribe. I'm bug-nuts crazy about ethnic-type D&D adventures.
Or, well, I'm waiting for the Adventure Path subscription to roll over so that I can preorder MM1 instead of having to start with WotR6. *Then* I've subscribed. :)

The adventure path itself looks wonderful. Having Richard Pett writing a chapter is icing on an already appealing cake. I hope Pett does his usual, as my past players have always been pleasantly horrified by the macabre ingenuity of his work.
In addition to the Egyptian flavor which I enjoy immensely; to me, this AP has the potential to fill the role of the "desert AP" that the Desert of Desolation of 1st Ed d&d never achieved (for obvious reasons). Given the absence of anything close to this upcoming desert-based AP since Desert of Desolation, (save perhaps Gygax's Necropolis, which was okay but not fantastic) it seems almost a sure thing.

Why thank you Killer.
When an adventure is oozing out of me I sometimes get an especially nice feeling about it. Sorrow and Mockingbird, both of which came out last year, had that feel to me and I was pleased with the results. Shifting Sands also has that feel, and I've enjoyed this and City of Locusts as much as anything I've done - locusts because its the most amazing and exciting outline I've ever been handed, and sands because it allowed me lots of scope for uncomfortable pressure role play. Plus between the two of us, it has a truly wicked villain that may take you back a few years.
I hope you enjoy them both, and as you so rightly say, look at the brilliant writers old and new across both ap's.
Huzzah!
Rich

Just thought I'd share here that I recently did an interview with Jim Groves (author of Book 1of the mummy's mask) in which we discuss the first part of the Adventure Path and much more: Check it out here!

Captain, my Captain!
Try this link instead. Now with 100% less brown border. Filled with awesomeness, or me anyway.

playing with my kids is like watching an episode of Robot Chicken (with slightly less swearing)

I'm just completing a year-long Osirion-themed campaign, and *now* thos comes out. My timing is awesome. They're currently in the Mud Socerer's Tomb, and will be ending with Gygax's Nercropolis. Overall, it's been fun, and my Osirion is a bit different from the Osirion that's coming together in Mummy's Mask.
Still, it'll be great to have a full adventure path (oh, and three Pathfinder Society Scenarios set in Osirion just came up!). The adventure paths fill out the background of Golarion nicely, and I'm really looking forward to the art.

Wait what?
How'd that Adventure Path subscription get under my name? I bet the mummies did it!

When we get somewhere, I promise to tell you as much about it as you please.
Thanks for the awesome adventure. I was referred to it specifically, when I was asking for very good toms and crypt adventures. having read it a time or two, I can see why. I enjoy the style, and it's nicely adaptable to Pathfinder and Osirion.
