Well Mr. Krows, It all depends. Want to sit down and talk business *wickedly grins*. Who knows, maybe you'd put your own name on my hit list just to cause some chaos. We all have a little chaos on the inside, just let yours out. Come, I'll help, my dagger does an amazing job!

Content is content right?

I can see occasional benefit from contracting with assassins against our own membership. I am not sold that it will be necessary, though. As much as we cement our community in kindness now, I am sure there will be plenty of hits put on leaders and organizations when resource scarcity becomes a reality.

Whether direct or indirect, I certainly look forward to seeing you ply your skills Tigari. Not only is it a consequence of a player driven world, it is a prominent feature :)

Goblin Squad Member

And alas, the benefit of openly admitting to being an assassin :D. Next time you need a Hit, one of the first things you'll think; Assassins from the Forums, that we occupied year(s) before this game came out. This list being small, and containing myself and just a few others.

I look forward to applying my skills for, or in the unfortunate (for you) event, to you.

Just remember this, all who reads. Next time you need an assassin, Remember the name: Tigari, The Poisoned Blade!

There we go, Now, prices anyone?

Thankfully those are -our- forum names and not indicative of our names in Golarion.

except for of course you have just given your in game name away :)

If you mean me, then yes, I did. But I want my name to be known throughout the River Kingdom. I want my name to be able to strike fear into people.

"Hey, I heard someone put a hit on you, were you aware?"
"NO, crap, hope they didn't contact Tigari! We have that war to fight soon! Quick, tell people I'm interested in Tigaris' last known position, I'll pay"

If I could get this to happen in game, It would be one of my happiest gaming moments. This is what I strive for in PFO.

And to those who think that because my name is known, I can't be a successful assassin, people can't see my name with an assassins mask on, Or if I'm in disguise, which I plan to be alot.

Goblin Squad Member

@Tigari

You will have a lot of fun. Lots of work and on the run.

Goblin Squad Member

That's the plan Bringslite ;D

Goblin Squad Member

I too will now reveal my in game name: Jayden Daisystem of the Moonberry Goddess' Travelling Roleplaying Company.

Goblin Squad Member

@Tigari

No I was referring to the "Thankfully those are -our- forum names and not indicative of our names in Golarion. " comment which one of our officers posted under what appears to be his in game name rather than forum name :)

Goblin Squad Member

I might just blow everyone's conception of me and role "Bluddwolf" as a female Gnome named Beverly Lorraine Udele Daisy De Lupo.

Goblin Squad Member

If only I had the brilliance to create a 'Random Assassin Name Generator' tool....

Goblin Squad Member

I think I'll roll an assassin named "Obaky" and pretend I'm in the upper echelons of a mega guild and infiltrate another lesser guild and try and talk them into abandoning ship a year and a half before launch...

Oh and I'll do this while someone who used to use the pseudonym "Obakararuir" is at NTC and DOESN'T HAVE INTERNET ACCESS. Yeah, that will be real smooth and probably work like a charm.

/sarcasm

I realize this has nothing to do with the name conversation going on above this post, but as an FYI, I've submitted my application over on the Pax Gaming site. You can thank ZenPagan for talking me into registering as a guest, and the rest of the group for being really great people - exactly the type of guild (chartered company, settlement, whatever) I want to be part of!

Looking forward to helping build a community in PFO with you!

Goblin Squad Member

We're happy to have you as part of the community.

Goblin Squad Member

I'm actually mulling over questions to ask you now Deianira... but I'll prolly wait till the morning. Regardless, happy to have you!!

Goblin Squad Member

Glad to have you, Deianira, truly looking forward to the rest of your recruitment process. Like Areks, I'm trying to come up with some flavorful questions of my own ;)

Goblin Squad Member

After looking at PAX as a community and also reading through this post I'm definetly interested in you guys.

However, I do wonder how large your european playerbase is? Especially regarding PFO.

Cheers! :)

Goblin Squad Member

There's a few of us playing from Europe. A couple more, if you count Europeans that have moved to NA.

Goblin Squad Member

When I think about it, I actually have no idea if there will be a server split between EU and NA? The logical and normal thing would be yes I guess.

With that in mind it's really hard to choose a community/guild.

Err.. I think they plan on having only one version of the game world, i.e. one 'server' (even though several physical servers can split the burden of hosting it i suppose). The most successful settlements/kingdoms will probably want to have people active during all times of the day to manage their business so a mix of players from as many different time zones as possible would be beneficial.

This is what I'm hoping for, nice to know someone else said it though ;D

I'll probably be creating a PAX application when I get home from work.

*waves his hand at a fellow EU player

You didn't mention where you are from in europe, UK inhabitant here. The current situation is we have a few european's knocking around and it is certainly an area that the guild officers would like to see expand. As has been noted PfO is one of those games that does require players around the clock.

If you look through the "where are you in meatspace thread" it does seem currently that the preponderance of PfO players whether Pax or not are in the US but I am confident that the mix will level out over time

Liberty's Edge Goblin Squad Member

Keep in mind that not all US-based players will have "normal" US playing hours, too; in my US East Coast-based crowdforger guild alone we've got two players who tend to play in the midnight-to-4 a.m. EDT range, one who likes to play in the 5-8 a.m. EDT range on weekends, and one whose hours vary widely. As well as the normal afternoon/evening hours; surely they aren't the only oddballs out there.

Also, Krow, still waiting on that dreaded Sudden Death Round! Work has calmed down again so should be around a bit more; thanks everyone for being patient while the dread Real Life got crazy.

Goblin Squad Member

Nice to meet you Eogar!

And yes Ma'am, I'll get to work on cooking up one of those Sudden Death Rounds ;)

Goblin Squad Member

Hello guys :)

@ZenPagan, I'm a Swede and a true norseman!

@Deianira
That's true about the odd hours, I guess I'm one of them myself. I have a tendency to play alot of DOTA 2 with Americans because I find myself sitting up till 5-6AM.

*Raises his imaginary hat for Ezekial Krows*

Hope to see your application soon Eogar!!

And so you have!

Very cleverly done, too; looking at mine and a few of the completed ones, they're all tailored to our interests (player and/or character). Which, really, most of the group's questions have been. Yours is just so very many questions in a big block of text.

It's just to weed out the faint of heart, isn't it?

@Eogar: Looking forward to your application. The process is a lot of fun, and (for me at least) has helped flesh out my character a bit. By the end, you'll feel very comfortable with the motley crew... or have run screaming for the hills!

Goblin Squad Member

I'm guessing the majority of the active people noticed already but I put up my application a bit earlier :)

Krows noticed a bit too fast, pressing that F5 button on all PfO related sites huh? ;D

Looking forward to a formal response and hopefully to talk to you all as a part of the community :)

It just so happened my High Thane senses were tingling the moment you posted. Or it could be the alert that goes out whenever someone new posts a recruitment thread ;)

In either case, I'm glad to have you applying Eogar!

I'd say the first scenario is most likely!

And thanks! :)

Greetings!

I have applied for membership with Pax Aeternum. My Will is to serve the Nation, my Ways will be many.

It shall be a pleasure to serve beside such fine Folk! :)

This comes from another thread, so please put it into the intended context:

Edit:

I should also like to add that, in the same way that the Treaty of Rovagug was proposed to address the concerns of an "Outside Entity" coming into PFO and ruining the game for all of us. Some of the smaller, more fringe companies (particularly CN, CE, Outlaws, etc) have an equal interest in knowing what the larger settlements have in store for our play style. The fact that these questions are being sent first to TEO are not just because TEO is apparently the largest company, but their stated goals are to in some way curtail our activities.

I would have the same questions for:

Pax Aeternum
Seventh Veil
Crimson Guard

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I will attempt to answer that on behalf of Aeternum

First I would say this comment relates purely to the play styles that the devs wish to encourage. Banditry, assassination etc.

Aeternum will not hunt you down time after time because you are bandits or assassins.

Aeternum however may well hunt you down if you are pursuing your banditry in such a way that it is detrimental to our interests and we shall pursue this hunting down until such a time as that particular groups stops the behaviour detrimental to the interests of Aeternum. Note this does not mean we will concern ourselves merely with banditry on what we regard as our lands but also if you are disrupting what we regard as one of our important trade routes.

Aeternum reserves the right to pursue more of a vendetta style approach to our group if you do something for which we feel justly aggrieved in character. This may include such actions as for instance betrayal if we have employed you to do a job such as performing a mercenary role. This will not be personal as such but merely because we would prefer that folk do not do such actions against us on an ongoing basis and unfortunately you maybe the example

Thank you ZenPagan,

Now for one final and possibly complex quest. What will Pax Aeternum's response be to settlements that grant access as visitors to bandits and or other outlaw types, solely for the purpose of training, spending loot and or bunking up for the night?

I'm sure you understand, but for clarity I will qualify the fact that I am not speaking if a settlement that has chartered a company of bandit / outlaws.

That will largely depend on the cirumstances.

I believe that we are taking the stance that who is granted access to a settlement is largely the concern of that settlement.

However politics will naturally be part of everything. A settlement on our doorstep that is being used as a staging point for a bandit company who are harrassing our lands may well come under pressure from our nation to stop granting them access.

This diplomatic pressure is likely to start with the quiet word and may escalate towards a pillage the fields and salt the women response dependent on how much of a thorn in the side they are being.

I think the question you are really asking here though is will we regard it as our mission to reduce any evil settlement to rubble simply because it is evil.

The answer to that simply put is no it won't. Aeternum may interfere at times with other settlements but it certainly will be based on solid in character reasons and not something as shallow as we are good you are evil

Pagan

An important thing for do-gooders to remember is without players on both sides of the good/evil spectrum this game will be incredibly boring. With that thought in mind, bandits and assassins will need places they can train and gather as it will allow them to provide content for those of us guarding caravans and doing body guard work. The PfO Community all has the same 'rights' to advance their characters in their chosen play style, and Pax Aeternum has no interest in infringing on those rights.

As Ambassador Pagan points out, we will defend our members, allies and territory with all our might. This does not mean that we don't want it to be a good fight, however, and for that to happen those we are in conflict with need to have the opportunity to enjoy the game and train as well.

Ah Ha! Re reading my task I can clearly see that I did this wrong the first time.

Hello! I am Bringslite. Some may know me and some do not yet. I have been around for a little while, here and there, stirring up trouble.

I have come to know several members of the Pax Aeternum crew through conversation with them. Very fun, funny, intelligent Folks. They are just neat and down to earth, regular, people.

Anyway, I have applied to be a member of Pax Aeternum because I like their Lawful approach with a twist of good. If I pass the really fun, so far, app process I will be very happy to call them brothers and sisters. They seem like they will all be very fun to game with. :)

Goblin Squad Member

I think if a settlement hosts you, then they bear some responsibility for what you're doing with the shelter and facilities provided.

Goblin Squad Member

Greetings Aeternumians,

Darcnes of Go Rin No Sho at your service.

It appears as though Pax Aeternum is developing quite the extensive network of companies. While I suspect in many endeavors we are likely to compete, I wish it known that we are glad to offer our services to any who need them. Our services are simply those things at which our members have chosen to excel at, for which we demand only excellence in these pursuits.

Please feel free inquire further should the desire strike you.

Greetings Darcness

You are more than welcome to send an envoy to our boards Pax Gaming. Should you decide to do so if you pm me I will ensure said envoy is set to the right privileges.

You do not mention your own website at all? If you have one we would be more than happy to send an envoy to your boards as well

Pagan
Ambassador of Aeternum

Goblin Squad Member

Website is still a work in progress.

No need for anything formal at this point, our interests thus far are simply in greeting the other companies with which we may share common pursuits.

Perchance a meeting shall be arranged once events have begun to take shape? We shall see!

Fare thee well.
