There's a few of us playing from Europe. A couple more, if you count Europeans that have moved to NA.

There used to be computer poker machines here (Finland) in the 90's, that had a higher chance of a win with a low pay out on the first game (Usually the lowest, or 2nd lowest), to entice you to play more. We tested it to be about 80% chance to win, when we heard about it. Once the word spread, everyone who'd heard of it, would play one game, let it get in the idle state and play another game, etc. If it didn't pay out on the first win, it was most likely out of coins, so you'd need to wait until someone would play it and lose some money, so you could win. All the old machines were replaced by new machines with this "feature" removed and better graphics in the space of a couple of months, once the word had spread. I guess everyone abusing it, meant they were no longer making a profit on the machines. :p

Not MMO-related, but still in the same vein and possibly somewhat interesting.

Great episode guys.

So anyone want to take bets on if Lyon can convince Kailara to play a dwarf?

Ok, 100 in game "coin", copper or whatever, that he can´t.

You mean a half-pint? :P

Thanks, good to know. I didn't pay attention to the higher tiers back then.

I believe that all the items listed in the quoted section (minus the Guild Starter Pack) are the "Crowdforger Pioneer" rewards. So, like JakBlitz, I'm not sure what discrepancy you're trying to point out.

Pioneers get 4 months subscription. Guild members get 3 months, per the sidebar. Pioneers also get the miniatures, whereas loremasters don't.

We were discussing the logistics of the Crowdforger Guilds, and noticed a discrepancy in the reward details.

The picture says 6x Crowdforger Pioneer rewards and Guild Starter pack.

Whereas the text description on the sidebar, says:

Quote:
Crowdforger Guild - Patrons at this level get six copies of all the Loremaster rewards, including six digital downloadable copies of the Pathfinder Online MMO and an invite for six to play once the game hits Early Enrollment, six three-month game subscriptions, six New Player Packs of consumables, and six Pathfinder Alliance Packs. Patrons at this level will be invited to join Early Enrollment as a guild of six in the order that they pledged this level. The first 200 guilds will be invited into month number one of Early Enrollment. Once we have reached 200 guilds at this level, the next 200 guilds will get invites to month two, with the next 200 guilds getting invites for month three and so on through the ninth month of Early Enrollment. Patron guilds will receive a Guild Starter Pack, as well as having the right to reserve their guild name (subject to name approval).

Which is correct?

I might want to give names to characters I've seen, but haven't interacted with.
Say I saw a couple of bandits kill someone, I'd like to be able to name "Bandit", to recognize them later and act accordingly.
Or someone helps you out, and doesn't introduce themselves, I'd like to name them Mysterious Stranger, or some such. :p

Including the pie industry.

The most obvious thing I can think of, would be an analogue of "The Drunken Rancor".

And that makes me wonder how ships will work in the game. I could see CCs that are just a ship(or a few ships), depending on how much infrastructure you need to build, repair and maintain them.

Good point Björn, but it would probably be better to not have an obligation for patrols, but something that gives you lower rent. If a CC that's focused solely on the production of cheese wants to set up production in(and just outside) the settlement, they could pay higher rent if they weren't combat oriented, or just didn't have the time to patrol/guard.

Another source of income could be the bounty boards, if the settlement controls it. You want to post an open contract for a resource purchase/caravan escort/guard duty/etc? Pay a nominal fee and have it posted on the bounty board right outside the town hall/in the middle of the market or at the gates.

Services and Goods tax would only be possible, if the developers added a feature that kept track of/deducted it automatically. Otherwise people would need to keep track of it themselves, and then just give the money to the community. There'd be nothing stopping someone from not paying it, or saying they made a lot less.

I think a lot of the income for settlements, will need to come from rent. If you want to have a store in or just outside the settlement(and therefore get the protection), you'd pay rent, depending on where it is. More for the Main Street/Market Area or near the main gate etc, less for some obscure backstreet with only a few homes and no other traffic. As well as a set costs to be allowed to sell on the market(Which could be waived for residents).

Maybe a small fee to use the (hopefully well patrolled) road between two settlements to transport goods. The two settlements would probably need to agree to split the profits and the responsibility for patrols, and be able to trust each other. They could either hire CCs or use their own manpower.

I don't see why not.
