Depends...if the book is set up like Mythic Adventures, they might just have a section in it with psychic monsters. Granted Mythic Adventures just had mythic versions of already published monsters, so we might still need a new bestiary for new psychic beasts.
Bestiary 4 had a whole mess of mythic monsters in it.
However, the campaign line will probably have a bunch of psychic monsters which are Golarion specific. Bestiary 5 will likely have more campaign generic ones.

Cherufe sounds similar though not identical to the Cherum in the Tome of Horrors. It needs more supernatural or spell-like abilities and isn't first party, but it's a start. I'd also gancanaghs to be added for two reasons. 1) It's a sex monster that's male instead of female. 2) It's a male sex monster that ISN'T BASED ON RAPE. Why is that so rare?

That reminds me that there is a chance that third party products read this wishlist and that they could use the mythological monsters they see in my lists.
I really would not like that. My wishlists are meant for paizo bestiaries.
Then it would be more Kikimora, Rarog, Bloody Bones and Jack-in-Irons cases, mythical monsters that take longer to appear in pathfinder bestiaries because they are already used by 3rdparty products, which I rarely buy.
Cherum isn't really anything I want the Cherufe to be, it's much to powerful and it doesn't have interesting abilities and back-story. The only thing it has in common is the fact that it lives in volcanoes. I don't like the Cherum name as well, why change the name Cherufe? And colossal? No please.
And yes, it is pretty awesome to see a male sexual creature that doesn't rape lol ;_P

Well if Bestiary 5 has a psychic theme then I would love to see the thought eater, brain mole, and few other psychic related old school monsters make a come back.
It sounds like they are really try to make this new system different from Psionics. Not sure how that will shake out with Psionic monsters. I feel their is a good chance that they will leave out the Psionic monsters that have not already been put into the game, to further divorce it from Psionics.

Virgil Firecask wrote:More info about this? So, Occult Adventures (psychic magic book) will be out next year for GenCon. Which means that they will need more monsters to support such things in the fall monster book.
With that in mind, any guesses?
They're doing psychic magic (not 3.5 Psionics) and adding 6 new classes that take advantage of them. The book will also concentrate on other occult mysteries and powers. I imagine it will be similar to the Occult Mysteries book the campaign line did recently, but expanded and with some extra goodies sprinkled in for good measure.
The psychic magic classes will be up to 9th level casters, standard Vancian model (not power points like 3.5 psionics) with the source being psychic instead of divine or arcane. Play tests will be "soon". So, probably October to January time frame.

76) Mngwa: (African Cryptid) (NE Large Magical Beast) (CR 14)
The Real Myth: Also known as Nunda, this mysterious giant grey-tiger/panther like creature stalks the African jungles and plains, always hidden from sight, but every creature it stalks will meet its claws and teeth soon. More info on this creature can be found here.
My own ideas about the creature: Geez, where to begin? There are many possibilities with this stalking beast. The perfect hunter? A black/white shadow tiger? A Cheshire Cat like creature but murderous? Well I like the Shadow Tiger version most, the perfect hunting machine that changes colors like a chameleon to match the surroundings and which body will adapt to every terrain and situation (much like the Beast of Malar from D&D), all by all this should be the perfect stalking-machine. Their creation could be a cool and mysterious plot as well.
Why in Pathfinder?: Because it’s a very cool kitty! And all the girls love a big, magical kitty in their books! And well, they are awesome cryptids from Africa.
This is one of my favorites (I've played a super character based on this cryptid).
Based on the gray fur and reputation for supernatural different versions could include sound-absorbing qualities so that it not only has a bonus to stealth, but also absorbs the screams of it's prey (silencing them when it bites or strikes someone), making it a terror to spellcasters. The mystery starts when someone in the middle of Bloodcove or Sargava is found brutally mauled to death in the morning, with the signs of a great cat stalking them for several blocks before dragging them down and savaging them, in the middle of a crowded district, deep within the city, surrounded by homes of people who would have heard any such animal attack, or the screams of the victim. Other magical properties that might make it scale could include some DR only overcome by a special material, or the ability to walk along walls or cling to ceilings (as if via spider walk) or turn to mist or deepen shadows / dim lights in it's immediate area or whatever.
In a game setting with a plane of shadow, it could be linked to the shadow plane, and only exist fully in areas of dim lighting (and only being dispelled back to the plane of shadow when it's quasi-real 'shadow conjured' body on the material plane is slain, or dispersed by a powerful light spell or effect), making it a different sort of tweak on the phase spider or hound of Tindalos, an extra-planar hunter that snatches prey on the material plane and drags it screaming into another dimension to devour at its leisure (so that even 'slain' Mngwa never leave behind bodies, and their victims bodies are also never found, just blood and signs of a struggle). The added meta-game horror of this sort of death is that resurrection requires that much more effort, either a spell like true resurrection, that doesn't require a body, or a journey into the plane of shadow to find the lair of the beast that snatched away the corpse of the fallen ally.

Mythologies aside, some more ideas.
New Template: Miniature -- Basically the opposite of the Giant Template. Shrink the creature down a size level. Good for variant constructs.
Shout-Out Monsters: Creatures based loosely on other works, like the floating medusa heads from before.
Something like the Gobul from Monster Hunter: (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2gdZc2ubuCE) -- Basically, a giant fish-like ambush predator capable of swallowing a Hippocampus whole.
A Childlike Fae that commands various Magical Beasts, Aberrations, and animals with the Half-Celestial/Dragon/Fiend or Fae Templates.
A relatively small (Small or Medium-sized) creature that is pretty much all mouth and can swallow creatures of equal or even greater size because it's stomach is it's own demiplane.

Next time I will make my list alphabetical
The Baldanders should definitely be included. The D&D Nightmare is actually quite different than the mythical Mara, which was a hideous female ghoul like creature. It did inspire the Nightmare, though.
Thanks for that very specific list Dragon. Those would be the best choices. I want Circhos, Nachzehrer, Kludde, Gulon, and Sahab also.
Odraude |
There is always this Mara demon. Though it would be weird if we use the Shin Megami Tension version, which is a penis on a chariot.
Google at your own risk.
The Evil Queen |
The Afanc from Shin Megami Tensei is really awesome, one of the best designs.
If they use the Mara/Mare/Alp next to the Nightmare, I hope it has abilities much like the Nightmare Beast from D&D, its nightmares aura is awesome.
A creature that kills you from your dreams like Freddy Kruger is also cool, don't know if Night Hags can outright kill you in your dreams already.
In your dreams the Mara could take any form she desires and tried to kill you in your dreams, but like in the real world you can also kill the Mara in your own dream, but it still has a big lead.
Maybe sleep-possession, taking control of sleeping creatures and make them do things they forget when they wake up.
SAMAS |
More weird stuff:
A Humanoid, monstrous or otherwise, with strong legs and huge feet, Jumps really high. Kicks really, really hard.
A creature that explodes as a defense. Doesn't do much for them, but if you survive, you'll think twice about messing with another one!
A large (tiny- to small-sized) rodent with electrical attacks. Send the check to Game Freak, not Nintendo. (j/k) :)
A giant Scarab/Dung Beetle. Yes, one that rolls a big-ass ball of dung around (and at you if you mess with it).
A flying, and I mean flying, fish. Either a ravenous swarm or a big biter/gulper. Maybe both.
An Evolved, Psionic Dolphin. Something like the Good Future descendants in Ecco the Dolphin 2.
A Huge to Gargantuan creature that covers itself in rock or ice as makeshift armor.
A Giant Spoon Worm, particularly the kind with the mucous net.
A Large Monstrous Humanoid based on either the Rhinoceros or Hippopotamus.
A Giant Bolas Spider

No need to worry about that--I actually checked with Adam Daigle that he's ok with us using monsters from this thread as the twist. I said I didn't want to complicate his plans regarding Bestiary 5, to which he replied that he didn't see there being any problem; any duplicated monsters would likely be different in at least one or two ways.
