No, unfortunately. You get to play each scenario one time. You do not get credit for playing a scenario again with a different character. If you have already played a scenario it won't let your GM assign you credit when he reports your credit. You can gain 1 player credit and 1 GM credit per scenario so GMing is the only way to get credit again for the same scenario.

Just making sure... I know the PFS rules frown on playing the same scenario twice on the same character, but two different characters is OK, right?
Unless the scenario is only Tier 1 (such as the First Steps trilogy), you can only play a scenario for credit once, period.
Replay of non-Tier 1 scenarios is generally discouraged; the primary reason it's allowed at all is if a replayer joining a table helps make that table actually go off (and, even then, the replayer does not get a Chronicle for the session).

False. Unless you're playing for no credit, you cannot play-for-credit more than once.
The "no two chronicle sheets of the same scenario on the same character" you are thinking of is the rule that one cannot apply both a GM credit and a player chronicle for the same scenario on the same character.
Only corner case is the Tier 1 stuff described above.

Ah. Well, crud--I just broke a rule this weekend!
No big deal. Just remove the chronicle sheet from the character you applied it to as that character wasn't able to get credit. I've been told that when a GM inputs credit, the system automatically detects if you have received credit and omits the entry from the character's session history. Just let your GM know what happened.

To recap:
1) You may play as many times as you like but you can only apply credit when (a) you play as a player for the first time (b) you GM for the first time or (c) it's a Level 1 scenario/module (like First Steps).
2) Your GM or VC/VL should catch it in the reporting system because it'll be flagged.
3) If you accidentally violate the rules, you can fix it by removing the chronicle sheet and notifying the VC/VL.
The Pathfinder Society Guide to Organized Play has more details.

1) (b) you do not have to take GM credit the first time you GM an adventure. You can skip GM credit indefinitely and take it on a later session, but you may only take GM credit for an adventure once*.
* Tier 1 Scenarios and Tier 1-2 Modules excepted.
2+3) Only VCs have full access to the online event system. VLs may view/edit any events they create, but can not edit events created by others. To correct online records you should contact your VC or report the record to Paizo.

Is "credit" referring to everything you can get for a character?
Example:.. I don't take the prestige points or fame or the boon associated with the chronicle of the scenario..
Can I still get the exp and gold?
Are there enough scenarios to level a bunch of different characters?
Basically I'm curious as to whether or not there exists a way to "farm" gold and xp.

"Credit" refers to the Chronicle Sheet itself and everything it contains, including Item access, XP, PP, GP, etc.

I only have 36 characters, 10 of which are level 12+, and I'm nowhere near done playing everything.

Gold? No.
Just maxing out your Day Job, really.
Farm XP? Why?

Would that be the same for someone who ONLY plays PFS?
You can run any Adventure created for PFS as a homegame. It's encouraged, actually (expands Paizo's material beyond the use for which it was created).
You obviously wouldn't get credit (a Chronicle Sheet) for a PFS character that way. Since you're not playing PFS.
The only way to "double dip" in the way you're probably thinking is to play a PFS-sanctioned Adventure Path or 64 page Module in what is called "Campaign Mode".
You essentially play the game at home, using whatever rules you want, over whatever time period you want, using whatever characters you want, and when it's all said and done your GM issues Chronicle Sheets that are assigned to one of your existing PFS characters.
For example, say I played Shattered Star: Shards of Sin as a homegame. We played for 6 months. I played a Kasatha dual wielding laser pistols (none of which is PFS legal). After we complete the book, the GM issues me a Tier 3-5 Chronicle Sheet. I then assign that Chronicle to an already existing Level 3 to 5 PFS character.

Since this thread is four years old it bares mentioning that there are many more ways to replay an Adventure today than there were back then, and there are many more replayable Adventures available at more Tiers than ever before.
You can also create a 'Core' Character, using only the Core rulebook, and if everyone else at the table does the same thing, you can all (including the GM) get credit for the scenario on your Core character, as well as a regular character.
