Intimidating Meleer

Advice

I was looking at designing the most intimidating melee I can, going into the Dragon Blooded PrC ASAP at the same time(Wayfinder 6, pg28).

My GM has given the okay on this slightly modified Tiefling.

Demon-Spawn (Pitborn) Other variants possible

Outsider (3 RP)

+2 Str, +2 Cha, –2 Int (0 RP)

Fiendish Resistance: Tieflings have fire resistance 5. (1 RP)

Darkvision: Tieflings can see perfectly in the dark for up to 60 feet. (2 RP)

Spell Like ability: You have over-sized limbs, allowing you to use Large weapons without penalty. (2 RP)

Prehensile Tail: Many tieflings have tails, but some have long, flexible tails that can be used to carry items. While they cannot wield weapons with their tails, they can use them to retrieve small, stowed objects carried on their persons as a swift action. This racial trait replaces fiendish sorcery. (2 RP)

Fiendish Sprinter: Some tieflings have feet that are more bestial than human. Whether their feet resemble those of a clawed predator or are the cloven hooves common to many of their kind, tieflings with this trait gain a 10-foot racial bonus to their speed when using the charge, run, or withdraw actions. This racial trait replaces skilled. (1 RP)

So preliminary research points to barbarian. Opinions and suggestions are welcomed!

Thanks,
-Hexen

Thug archetype Rogue offers what is perhaps the most important Intimidate ability, upgrading shaken to frightened.
Then take feats/rage powers that allow you to Intimidate without losing attacks, and you're good to go.

Dreadful Carnage and Cornugon Smash are both good for this.

I'm not sure if you're talking about "intimidating" from a mechanical or flavor perspective.

Because you're currently walking around with fire resistance (redish?) skin, red glowing eyes (darkvision), beastly lookin' feet, oversized out-of-proportion arms, and a barbed tail. Really, all you need is a pair of horns and maybe some claws to top off the image. Villagers are probably going to be running from you as it is.

That's GOT to work out to some sort of mechanical bonus to intimidate, right? I'd talk with my GM about it.

Helmet of the Maiden; Dominator trait; Go Half-Orc for their racial intimidate boost; go Inquisitor for their Stern Gaze intimidate boost, PLUS you can use the Inquisitor Half-Orc favoured class bonus to boost intimidate.

I am looking for mechanics to create feat effects.

There's always the second level Order of the Blue Rose cavalier with the Enforcer feat. That way you don't even need that high of an intimidate score, just high enough to gurantee you secceed at the check. Shaken for a number of rounds equal to damage dealt will leave enemies shaken until next Tuesday when you charge.

Add in a level of Thug archetype rogue and you pretty much gurantee a frightened enemy per attack.

I think the best feats are intimiating prowess and cornugon smash.

You could also go barbarian and take the intimidating glare/terrifying howl rage poers.

then a dip into thug (or hellknight 3) to make the intimidation effects stronger.

The performance combat feats are quite good for intimidating, because you can eventually intimidate 30ft as a swift or free action.

Shadow Lodge

Here is a fulled fleshed out intimidate based build. It's mainly inquisitor, who dips rouge (thug) and cavalier(cockatrice) for some awesome dazzling display abilities. He's no slouch in combat, and he's got +14 intimidate at level 4, +55 at level 20.

Dazzling Inquisitor

How does performance combat feats work please; I never got the hang of that.

You go weapon focus - dazzling display - performing combatant - hero´s display - dramatic display and masterful display. Then you can still take master combat perfomer to make performance checks as a free action.

You can have a weapon with the perform quality for +2 on performance combat checks.

You need performing combatant to make combat performance checks outside in any combat. "The check is a Charisma ability check modified by the base attack bonus of the character plus any ranks the character has in Perform (act), Perform (comedy), or Perform (dance), whichever is highest. " But in a normal combat you only need to hit a 20 to get the benefits of your combat perfomance feats.

It´s kind of feat intensive, but it gives you the bonus of demoralized oponents and +2 to hit them eventually.

A shame singing isn't in there, that is my favorite. Thanks for the info.

I´m sure in a homegame you can have your Lohengrin singing and fighting all the while intimidating^^
But you can forget about stealth and surprise then hehehe. Probably the whole dungeon would come to see the show!
