Maybe, but when you don't realize the impact the sun has on you until you're stuck at a Ren faire and your wearing a somewhat revealing dress and end up looking like broiled lobster...it gets real super fast. LOL

GM Henry Fortuna |

Yes. Cyna never came up with an animal companion, but has become more active over the last few months while Harakhty has...dropped off. If he wants to, I do have an ending in mind for him and it is happy, of all things. Things flowed a little better when there was a bit more combat, but I've been enjoying character development. I'm happy to be moving ahead though because strange combats are ahead and I'll need to get out my notebook for your next encounter. I really hope you'll enjoy it. While it's been just over a year, I think we're still in the feeling out process. I don't think one extreme or the other is best. There's a happy medium but I think we're skirting around it.
I think it's time I toss out an interest check again, as well as any criticisms. I've been PMing and PMed, but I want to air this out. Even though this is a PbP, I see it the same way as I do a RL table. So I'll start:
@Harakhty: I'm not sure of the direction you're taking your character, but there's an entire party here at your disposal. My NPCs can't solve all problems. Please ask the party to help you or, at least, try and work yourself back into the group as a whole.
@Nicatha: In Drago's game, hanging back and being mysterious was fine, but it's not going to cut it here. This is a group game. If you don't want to associate with the entire group, then I might be open to starting a Zahvroma Alpha group if that appeals to some of the others.
@Skaar: We need to move beyond 'f~#%ing and fighting'. You have a lot of character potential and I want to explore it in a way that makes you happy. You make strides and then backpedal a bit. So I want to know what's holding you back from being more than "I'm good at 2 things..." Would you like to split the group and do it that way?
@Arista: I've enjoyed character development a lot and I know you're torn between your continued development and moving on with the story. Keep working towards your wedding, but then we should focus on the story for a bit.
@Drago: I need to torture you more.
@Corda: Dial down the sluttiness a bit.
@Alethiro: Talk a bit more, but be less morose. Your character is the oldest, but you're also the most angsty teenager.
@Sādhanā: Carry on.

The sun did not shine.
It was too wet to play.
So we sat in the house
All tht cold, cold, wet day.
The sun is not up, so we are. It's nice and overcast with some rain, hence the little blurb above. I like days like this. Now, for other things.
@ Mr. Fortuna I am not torn at all. I want to continue on with the story, but there are some that need to understand that the weddings of the girls, as well as myself and Alethiro, are every bit a part of this story as the combats are. We are at a critical juncture when alot of things are going to be happening at once. Arista will figure out exactly who she is along the way, cuz that's how life is....but right now her priorities are 1. Her family, 2. Alethiro's family, 3. Alethiro, 4. Thier wedding, 5. Being prepared for the Vampire B!$!& of death, and ultimately continuing on as a group to defeat Vencious and bring the tower back on line to protect the areas in which we already destroyed shards.
I don't know about everyone else, but I love the way this game has been going. Life is messy sometimes....it's not always slay the bad guy and move on. There are things that have to happen in between and I'm sorry that you've been feeling like you've been getting ganged up on or if the main idea of what kind of game you wanted to run has been derailed. I know I may have a biased opinion, but I think you're a superb GM and that you just want everyone to have a good time, but you need to have a good time too and not let certain things get to you.
I think of this game like a good movie.....There are parts that are edge of your seat action, and then there is also parts where it's story development. Right now we are at a story development point, with some action bits thrown in here and there....which is fine with me. The way you explained this game to me in the first place it wasn't supposed to be all action, all the time anyways so I don't see what the big deal is.
Okay, I think that's all I have to say.....for now.

Arista |

Oh no, I'm not "defending" myself. I'm explaining where I and my character are coming from so 'other' people can hopefully understand what it is I'm trying to get at.
I don't need to "defend" myself because that implies that I'm wrong about something.....and I'm not.

Alethiro Milocathe |

Technically, Arista is the oldest if you count the centuries she was in suspended animation. As far as talking more, I probably should try harder. But to be fair, there is a lot that seems to happen when I go to sleep.

Skaar |

I wish reviews at work were that brief. Also, I LOLed at the use of the word ‘sluttiness’. Don't listen to him Wildcat - you're great.
Skaar’s big thing was supposed to be his quest for redemption and torturing himself over his past. I suppose we wrapped all of that up a bit too quickly.
Dealing with Sefirous is a good long term goal but he could use a shorter term goal too. Maybe something involving stepping into a leadership position in Valwick? If running a split game is manageable for you, I wouldn't be opposed to giving it a shot again. I rather enjoyed the last one.

Nicatha of the Manifold Moon |

Sorry for being gone for the last few days; I really thought we were on break until the first. I can bend my thumb and put pressure on it without pain again, so typing should be easier.
As for your critique, I hear you. There are lots of characters to get to know. I have been trying to integrate Nicatha in slowly given her self understanding as a stranger in a strange land (an exile to boot.) I'm sorry this has been a problem? I will try to push forward through her issues more quickly in the future. She has meet the entire party now and is positively disposed towards most of them. :-)

Cyna Singer |

Regarding the Animal Companion, I actually picked my horse but it never comes up, can't really drag the party around on one steed.
The animal companion isn't all that strong to begin with and much worse for the ranger. (-3) It has it's uses but my past experience with both druid and ranger has seen the death of many an animal. Mostly to lighting bolts.
I was considering changing the ability to bond with Companions but it doesn't really matter.

Drago Skorzeny |

Actually Cyna, you can retrain your Hunter's Bond from Animal Companion to Bonding with your Companions. It just takes 5 days and you need to find a Ranger of at least 6th level with that feature.

Skaar |

Companion Bond is cool and with a party this big, forgoing the animal companion might be a good idea.

Skaar |

Henry might let he trade it for free. She's literally never used that animal companion.

Cyna Singer |

I haven't brought it up because it's a move action and it only lasts one round. :(
I Probably won't use it outside of a suprise round.

Cyna Singer |

Henry might let he trade it for free. She's literally never used that animal companion.
Probably considering he didn't even know I had one.

Skaar |

If you want to keep the animal companion but you don't want to deal with micromanaging it, you could go for something like a spirit totem bird. They get the ability to talk for free and eventually get some divination magic. That would also give us a good aerial scout and could work as a plot device when Henry needs it. "I was flying near the coast and spotted X".

Skaar |

Quiet day.

GM Henry Fortuna |

@Cyna: I knew about the horse, I didn't know it became the companion. It's very "out of sight, out of mind". If you want to switch it around, you may.
@Drago: You do your best roleplaying when something bad is happening to you. Yet, some part of me doesn't want to have you be the party punching bag...
@Alethiro: If things go right for Drago, you become the "sad" character. If things go wrong, you become more cheerful.
@Corda: It was fun for a little while, but, lately, it seems exaggerated and Corda feels like a caricature rather than a character in her own right.
@Nicatha: Yeah, well, it seems I can't take a break :P Nicatha's introduction to the group happened at an inopportune time and there hasn't been much of a chance to explore her as a character. We'll work on it as we progress.
I wouldn't mind running a split group if some people would be more comfortable with that. I've been toying with running another game anyway, but there are still character dynamics that I'd miss if we went X-Men Gold/Blue.

Skaar |

To be fair, I liked it better when the likes of Corda, Alethiro, and Gregario were designated NPCs. I understand they've grown as we've gotten attached to them but being a bit caricature-esque is a good thing in my opinion. It gives the actual PCs more space to stand out.

Skaar |

Heh. Fair enough.
Corda being shamelessly wanton around Skaar I like but it does get a bit silly at times.

Skaar |

It’s actually an archetype you can apply to any animal companion. I just like it on birds because it fits the non-combat scounting/intelligence niche well.

Skaar |

As for a second game, I'd be all for it as long as 1) It doesn't increase the chances of you getting overwhelmed/burned out and 2) We don't run the risk of a big desync where we have to wait 6 months to see Skaar again.
Not that that's happened. =(
I could totally see an away team/home team thing going on.

Arista |

Technically, Arista is the oldest if you count the centuries she was in suspended animation. As far as talking more, I probably should try harder. But to be fair, there is a lot that seems to happen when I go to sleep.
Nice try dear, but no....the years I was held captive in the shard don't count since time stood still for me. I'm still only 83, so there. Hehe

Skaar |

Skaar’s in his late 20s but I figure that puts him in his 40s by Orc years.

Arista |

Yeah, Henry was looking it up at some point....I guess to see what the probability would be of her brother actually still being alive or not. I don't know....I guess it depends on what took him. :o/
Well, we managed to keep our sleep schedules pretty much like we do for work this time, but our eating habits are awful. The last time we ate actual food was when we went to Hardees last night, around midnight. When I got up I fixed Henry some chicken salad and tostadas, but I just had some unsalted crackers with peanut butter. I know it's bad....but I woke up feeling sick again and didn't want much to eat.

Skaar |

I'm staying late at work tonight so I might not be super attentive.

Arista |

That's fine, work responsibilities come first. Once the epic crap at my work starts, I don't know what kind of condition I'll be in. I guess we'll have to wait and see. I'm really not looking forward to it. The sooner I can get away from that hell dimension, the better.

Arista |

Well....I'm a little more awake now, but I'm afraid poor Henry was nearly drained. >;~O
Sooo....it will probably be at least a couple hours before he can get on here and check on things. He needs a little nap to recover some of his strength. Hehehe
