I would love to be suffering the effects of a promotion. In the meantime, I apologize for Harakhty being relatively useless at the moment. He's more curious about the new place's overall features than solving "problems" it may have at the moment.
Sound like typical Shamalan. Don't get me wrong, I like some of his movies, Signs, Unbreakable, The Village. The Lady in the Water wasn't too bad, my only complaint was him putting himself in such a major roll.
I want to toss an idea by all of you, but keep in mind that this is for a while down the road. I don't know how many of you have played Kingmaker (I have not personally), but the kingdom building rules from Ultimate Campaign intrigue me. I'm planning on picking up the book within the next month and I want to know if kingdom building would interest you or turn you off. It fits well with Harakhty's character and your own home base might be a great idea for your explorations of Zahvroma. This is not set in stone until I look over the rules, but I wanted to see what your first impressions are.
Having run Kingmaker through book three, I can say that kingdom building can be a lot of fun but it can also be a real chore.
My biggest concern would be it slowing down the story/core gameplay. If we can integrate it without gumming up the rest of the game, I’d be happy to give it a shot.
Well, bought Ultimate Campaign as well as my long-desired Bestiary Box. I'll look over the kingdom building stuff over the next week before I jump up and down on Oprah's couch over it.

I am yet in the dark on Ultimate Campaign, so I can't give any feedback on that. However, I can agree with Skaar's assessment if it will slow down the campaign, I'd rather avoid it. Otherwise, sure.
Seeing that kingdom turns are once a month, I'm not throwing away the idea just yet. However this will rely on recruiting NPCs and possibly an NPC sovereign/regent to handle things while you're off fighting the evils of Zahvroma.
It wouldn't be possible to bring people in now. The shipwrecks and the fort prevent that. The rest of the island is inaccessible to your knowledge (mountains surround the rest of the island). Though resolving Icathia's problem before the end of the campaign could allow for kingdom building. As for there being locals, I can't say much about it now.

I'm having a bit of difficulty discerning the where/when of the current situation on the deck. Harakhty is willing to help pull down the mast as long as he doesn't need to go by the hands, but I'm not sure if that's the case.
"Now let me tell you something, yesterday I turned 97. And I never worked out, a day in my life. Every morning I get up, and I smoke a cigerette, and then I eat five strips of bacon, then for lunch a bacon sandwich, then for a mid-day snack..."
"Bacon."
"Bacon, a whole damned plate. And I usually drink, my dinner. Now according to all of these flat, bellied experts. I should've took a dirt nap, like 30 years ago. But each year comes and goes, and I'm still here, and they keep dying."
"This is cast we made, of the footprints we found. 37 in by 19."
"Doc that's fantastic. Doc I don't understand, whatever walks on this might be formidable for a man with a club, but with our kind weapons, Quinn could have.."
"No, no Skipper, this runs counter to every known law of 'Adaptive Evolution.'"
"What do you mean?"
"Well notice this structure here, characteristics of a four footed animal, yet our visitor last night left the tracks of a biped. Primarily a ground animal too, yet this claw can only belong to an arboreal creature, like some impossible tree-sloth. Just doesn't fit in the normal nature, anywhere in the galaxy, this is a nightmare."
"Is that what you made out of that footprint Doc?"
"Marry, sir, they have committed false report; moreover, they have spoken untruths; secondarily, they are slanders; sixth and lastly; they have belied a lady; thirdly, they have verified unjust things; and, to conclude, they are lying knaves."
"What is your offense, masters? This learned constable is too cunning to be understood."
