For Guymelef I saw he has gauntlets that function as wands? What are the crafting rules for those because they seem really interesting

None of these characters use any intentional house rules, though as with any complex game, please expect, and allow for, some leeway for interpretive differences of the rules (for example, I have no problem with combining two magical items in one slot as per the magical item creation guidelines, or completely changing the description of a given game element).

If you notice in other characters, sometimes Ravingdork will change the flavor of an item or spell (Helegur comes to mind) to match the character. I'm betting the gauntlets are just what they say they are. A wand in gauntlet form. It still takes a Standard action to cast from the gauntlet, and it still has charges just like a wand.

There is nothing in the rules that stops you from doing this other than an unspoken rule of 'tradition'. One could make a Ring of Acid Resistance, but instead, it's a headband. You'd basically need Forge Ring, and if the GM were really anal, Craft Wondrous Item.

I've been working like that for items to (with some exceptions). It's mainly a flavor thing. For example, I'm more like to use "gauntlets of mighty fists" than an amulet. It just "fits" better. I've also been having fun looking at magical tattoos. They may be more expensive, but they're just cool.

That's exactly right, Tels, however I'd imagine that to make "wand gauntlets" you would need BOTH Craft Magic Arms and Armor and Craft Wands since they are both weapons as well as wands.

It also helps to keep things from getting out of hand.

Mythic Araonna Chorster has a new undead friend to better facilitate sea travel.

Dark Archive

Does she purchase scrolls of remove paralysis in bulk? I would expect her to either have some on her or know the spell, so as to make more fast zombies.

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber; Pathfinder Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

I just noticed that I don't have an Excel sheet tracking her starting funds. I have a history of being way off if I don't use the excel sheets (when I first started the practice, I was amazed at how many characters were off). At some point in the near future, I shall drum one up for her to make sure she is on track.

Pretty sure I bought all the necessary components for her previous undead creations, but I neglected to do it for the sea serpent, so adjustments will have to be made regardless.

This has probably already been mentioned by RD, but if it has I haven't seen it just yet and so I will ask again:

You in the last several pages of the thread you have mentioned characters and alternate builds that aren't on the listing on the front page. Do you intend on editing the front page so that everything is collected there, or would you prefer we search the thread instead?

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber; Pathfinder Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

Araonna Chorster's equipment has been revised, somewhat, to ensure that she meets all of the starting funds guidelines.

Taleek: I would prefer if you and others would follow this link to the character gallery, then bookmark it. All the other links in the first 20 or so pages of this thread are obsolete, and will not be updated.

Also, one can only edit a thread within the first hour of its creation, so short of appealing to the mods, there's nothing I can do about it even if I wanted to.

Nowadays, this thread primarily serves as a discussion topic for the characters in the gallery, as well as a place for people to report errors and for me to announce updates.

Guymelef Dilandou should be 26AC. Your armor bonus to AC is +10. You have +12. I probably would go with Mithral +3 Kikko over +1 FMP, and save one feat and be auto pass on the Arcane Armor check. Costs more and you're 24AC - but, since Mithral Kikko doesn't slow you can pick another trait - and be 10' better on base speed...plus a better Stealth Check. You could be Tiefling and go with Scaled for 25AC or Armor of the Pit to get back to 26, but mehhhhh.

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber; Pathfinder Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

Looks right to me. +9 full plate plus +3 enhancement modifier = +12 armor bonus to AC.

I see. Read Full Mithral Plate, +1 missing the +3 on the top of the line before. That's a huge investment in AC, 19,500 gold but I know your martials are usually going big on AC.

about the same as a +3 weapon(18000) so it doesn't seem too bad if you ask me.

Ah, that I did not know. Thank you for the information RD, and Paizo, lets get it together here. :-P

Little question Ravingdork:

I've started working on a construct crafting guide. You have a couple really good examples of cool constructs in your files, would you mind if I referenced them/used them as examples? Your nimblewright is a great example of a high-complexity "intelligent" construct.

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber; Pathfinder Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

Be my guest, williamoak.

Well, I've gotten it started:

construct guide

If you guys are interested in contributing, just join in, I'm looking for all the extra knowledge I can get.

I'd like to ak you a question ravingdork:

How did you ballpark your minimum caster level on the nimblewright? I'm looking for good ways to estimate DCs and minimum caster levels.

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber; Pathfinder Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

Pretty sure that, that CL was taken from the Monster Manual 2's nimblewright (like the myconoid, it's a conversion, not a unique creature).

Ravingdork wrote:

Damn, I was hoping to find some guidelines. I guess I'll use the lowest CL for the highest spell level.

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber; Pathfinder Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

Why change it? Golems and other Pathfinder constructs don't use the minimum caster level of their component spells. Creating sentient constructs more powerful than a homunculus is not supposed to be a trivial task. That's powerful archmage-level stuff.

It was more a question of getting general guidelines on determining CL.There are quite a few construct that have a considerably lower min CL than the min CL to cast the hightest level spell.

The best example is the iron cobra; it's min CL is 7, and it's highest level spell required cant be cast before level 15. So it seems rather arbitrary. I guess I can use the CR as an indicator (IE CR+1-2).

I'm not sure if this has already been asked (and in a thread this long, it probably has), but how do you calculate the value of an item for a character who has that crafting feat?

Do you assume that the character in question has crafted it for himself, or do you follow WBL strictly from the price to purchase?

I try to follow RAW when possible, so it would be the former. If they have invested in Item Creation feats, then they get the items for their crafting cost, not their market price.

Dark Archive

Cheers, I had forgotten how that FAQ was worded. :)

Ravingdork,

Sorry to ask this but there are too many characters. Have you built any "dimensional dervish" feat chain based character?

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber; Pathfinder Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

Look for Haloy Wrang.

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber; Pathfinder Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

I've created and added a new character today, Sanat Norstag, a vicious head hunter loosely modeled after Santa Clause.

Ravingdork,

I have 3 things to say:

1: I love him.
2: Wouldn't a Halloween themed character have been more appropriate and to have saved him for Christmas?
3: Shouldn't he say 12th Level Human Head Hunter not 11th?

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber; Pathfinder Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

I thought I had changed it and saved over it.

I guess it made a duplicate file instead.

I wasn't thinking about the holidays when I made him, I was thinking about how awesome it would be to have a character based on that artwork.

I like the build but how would you keep the pack alive? I realize you only need 1 to benefit from gang up and out flank but this is just asking for a fireball.

It is cool that you can charge and still have move action left to control rain deer. Wooly Rhinos cost a whole lot more but would be devastating charge partners. If you traded in you pack and some stolen loot you would have enough for 1.

If you are going for a large number of animal followers and using the outflank feat would it worth it invest in some dex and combat reflexes to take advantage of the two AoO you get from ally crits?

By calculations your pack can will have +14 to hit if the charge and you have granted outflank and gang up to them.

Most DMs will allow you to control more then one animal with the same move action if you give them all the same command but it would be nice to have the first ones just move up in to good flanking spots instead of charging and then have the rest charge with you. Not sure you can do all of that with 1 move action.

4d6+80 on challenge charge is quite nice and no lance use makes staying in there to full attack a lot easier.

You don't. Some dogs cost half as much as a CLW potion. They're meant to be expendable. Just need one of them to last long enough to grant some bonuses.

Might be more effective, but it would deviate from the overall concept. Feel free to do this if you utilize the character.

Mathius wrote:

That sounds like solid advice. I'll look at his feats and weigh them against one another.

Cool.

He only needs one plus his mount to gain fairly substantial bonuses. Best to leave the rest out of harm's way, bringing them in only as needed.

Sure does!

:D

Let me know if this is right for the math because I may use this in a against my PCs. +2 charge, +5 banner, +4 flank and + normal to hit. Flanking is ensured if if the caviler charges first and he really does not need help to hit on a charge.

What about furious focus instead of skill focus?

Edit? How did you get +5 bonus to ally charges from your banner? I only see a +2. The fear bonus should be a +3 as far as I can tell?

I get an infinite load when I try to open these character pages :(

Most of the links that are scattered throughout the thread are now obsolete. Ravingdork moved his characters to the Micrsoft Skydrive.

Ravingdork's Character Emporium

In the Emporium, you will find many characters of various races, classes, and levels. At the top, under Roleplaying Art, you will find a fantastic gallery consisting of literally thousands of character pictures, monsters and landscapes from artists all over the web, Pathfinder products and D&D products just to name a few.

Also included is Ravingdork's custom created template for character sheets, which you are free to use.

But wait! There's more! You will not just find characters and art to use, you can even find flying castles, undead monstrosities, custom creatures, unique eidolons and more.

Welcome to Ravingdork's Character Emporium! Please, enjoy your stay!

Scarab Sages

Should Seregon's attack bonus with Geol be +35?
20 BAB + 7 str/dex + 3 weapon training + 5 weapon enhance = 35

Assuming I'm not missing anything (already checked for a +2 untyped bonus to AC--not there), it should all together be:

+35/+30/+25/+20 or
+35/+24/+19+14 with power attack or
+30/+25/+20/+15 with stunning assault or
+30/+19/+14/+9 with power attack and stunning assault

Regardless of what it actually is, I'm sure he doesn't get a +1 for using stunning assault like it says he does.

Anyway; very cool resource. Something I look forward to using.

Good catch. I suspect earlier versions of him were using it to pump his AC. I'll fix it since that isn't typically the norm (more like a back up option should he lose his shield or sword somehow).

Ravingdork, any chance we can see what your take on mythic Roshgog would be?

Lohan wrote:

I suppose he might look something like this.

For added versatility, I gave him energy conversion and speedy summons, both of which allow him to overcome former weaknesses.

For potency, he can hit you with a maximized mythic fire snake followed by a quickened mythic fire snake for ~307 damage + 1d10+9 damage per round while they burn in the grapple.

Alternatively, he could grow to Large size via Power of Giants and go into melee with mythic transformation and mythic heroism, making four attacks at +29 to hit, dealing respectable amounts of damage, and still being able to cast 3rd-level and lower spells (such as mythic fireball or mythic fly). Give him a good melee weapon to use and he could potentially make as many as 6 attacks each round.

At later tiers, his fireballs will flat out ignore energy resistance/immunities and his mythic dazing firesnakes will both pin and daze foes.

Ravingdork, will you be upgrading any of your numerous wizards to take advantage of the feats released in the Pathfinder Society Primer? Both Emergency Attunement and Planned Spontaneity seem to be great for their versatility, and combining Quick Preparation with the Fast Study arcane discovery would result in a single spell taking only 30 seconds to prepare. On the spontaneous side, a sorcerer with a full spellbook could take great advantage of Versatile Spontaneity.

I'm not really familiar with that book or the material therein. I shall look into it.

As a general rule of thumb, I DO update characters to take advantage of newly released material. Anything that can make a character more powerful, or fit closer to its theme makes for a likely candidate for inclusion. If you, or other posters, would like to make suggestions or recommendations, I'm open to them (though a request or recommendation does not guarantee a change--especially since thread readers are already welcome to use and change the content herein to better suit their games).

EDIT: I can't really find any of the abilities you mentioned in the PRD or the PFSRD. Could you tell me more about them?

EDIT: Found them on the Archives of Nethys.

EDIT: Wow.

Interesting stuff mergy. It seems like every few months a book comes out of the woodworks thaat most people dont notice.

I thought about it (and still kind of am).

A person could interpret it as a component with no cost, since there is no cost listed in the spell description, though I acknowledge that as an incredibly cheesy interpretation to have.

Really though, I just ran out of starting funds.

Shifting around gold suggestions:

Sell ring of force shield +8500 gp
Purchase ring of spell knowledge (shield) -1500 gp
Purchase potions of bull's strength (2) -600 gp
Craft circlet of persuasion -2250 gp
Craft shirt of immolation -4000 gp

Come out of it with 150 gp extra, +2 to your net AC with shield up, +3 to all charisma-based rolls, and the ability to grapple and immolate someone, or immolate something silly enough to grapple you (stacks with fire shield as far as I can tell).

That Versatile Spontaneity is borderline broken. I'm in Kingmaker right now, playing a Wizard, and another party member is a Sorcerer, I've spent ~4,000 gp purchasing spells for my spell book and I have almost 20 spells of each level except 5th, of which I have 7 (9th level Wizaard). If the Sorcerer took that feat and used my spell book... I could see foresee tears, I really could.

Dark Archive

I don't think it's broken, considering the sorcerer can only prepare one spell like this each day. Powerful and worth a feat? Certainly. Broken? Nah.
