I have an unplayed character with 6 GM chronicles on it, and have been considering a wayang (mainly 'cause I have the boon chronicle), but am having trouble getting anything to paper on it. I've considered playing the racial archetype bard, or a shadow based wizard. Neither is really drumming up any much enthusiasm and I could use some ideas. My other characters are a cleric 9 of Shelyn (luck and protection) and a rogue 6. This character will likely play quite a bit with my daughter's rogue/bard through at least level 6 or so; her character does quite a bit with intimidate.
Thoughts?

Wayangs are a truly interesting lot. I must say, I'm intrigued by what I've read about them, and the first thing that comes to mind is a sneaky little thing that's wary/suspicious of others, especially humans (whom they may regard like a sort of boogey-man).
I like the idea of the shadow/illusionist Wizard, since it would potentially work with an easily spooked/likely to hide behind others during combat sort of character. Of course, this would be what I'd do with the character, so YMMV.

The 'Shadow Puppeteer' bard archetype seems overly weak, sadly. Would love to be proven wrong though.
If I were you I'd go a Wayang Ninja. Darkvision + boosted intelligence + Wand of Darkness Use Magic Device + Wakizashi = one g+%$~~ned scary walking, neck-slitting, cloud of gloom.
Flavour-wise, you could be a retired assassin, who took down too many marks in Tian Xia, and have had to flee to the Inner Sea under the protection of the the PFS. You're eager to kill, but you've been around long enough to know that being 'too good' at your job can mean more trouble than it's worth.

Wayangs are the only small characters without a Str penalty. This screams for a small fighter or something similar.
That was my first thought as well. I've been plotting a Wayang switch hitter Alchemist for a while now - would be more brutal going Vivisectionist, but I like the idea of having bombs available. Go Grenadier, grab proficiency with a lucerne hammer or the like, and have at it.

I'm playing a Wayang Rogue in our current campaign. We're still at low levels, but I am going primarily Rogue, with a 1-level dip into Magus for now. I really like the combination.
The +2 DEX with no STR penalty makes him reasonably effective in combat with the Finesse Rogue talent, although the small weapon size is a bummer, so I mostly stick to sneak attacking and flanking. The +2 INT from the racial package is a nice perk for a skill-heavy character, and it basically lets him use his Magus spells an extra time each day.
The only thing I really sacrifice from the dip into Magus is that I get each extra sneak attack die a level later, but the 1st level Magus abilities add a lot of flavor to the character and stay relevant, even as the level goes up.
The Magus +2 to base saves for both FORT and WILL has been a lifesaver, especially for a race with a WIS racial penalty. The Arcane Pool ability basically lets him have a free +1 to his weapon during combat, stackable on top of any other weapon bonus up to +5, so it is one of the rare 1st level abilities that will become increasingly more valuable as the character levels up.
Since my spell DCs are not so good, I'm sticking with Magus spells to complement my sneaking and personal protection -- e.g., Feather Fall, Silent Image, Reduce Person, Expeditious Retreat, Shield, etc. And Detect Magic is great for the party thief, who is often off on his own.
Cinematically, I'm playing his arcane abilities as legacies of his Shadow Plane heritage.

I've got a Wayang archer fighter with the Lore Warden archetype. With 16 Int and the FCB, that gives him 8 skill points per level, so he can still out-Knowledge a lot of bards. Add a discerning wayfinder for 5PP, and he can identify magic items too.
The cavalier is a popular option too, because you get the accessability of small size without the Strength penalty of a gnome or halfling.

This is what I would like to do. On a side note, Where can you find out more about the wayang culture? They dont even have example wayang names.

The two wayangs I have lined up and ready to go next Thursday are an alchemist and an investigator. They seem perfect for those two classes, to be honest. They would also make a good ray specialist wizard, although that might be wasting their shadow affinity.
Shadow Evocation could get use out of it...
