when casting from a scroll or wand, do you still need the focus for that spell?
Scrolls: "Activating a scroll spell requires no material components or focus. (The creator of the scroll provided these when scribing the scroll.)"
Creating Wands: "Material components are consumed when work begins, but focuses are not. A focus used in creating a wand can be reused." (Doesn't explicitly say, but I assume it's the same as with scrolls)
i have a friend who is trying to cast shield other on someone from a wand, but he didnt have the platnium rings for the focus. does he have a useless wand until he buys the rings?
The fluff is that you're both wearing rings, and that's the focus. By RAW I think as long as rings were used when creating the wand, you're all set.
