Wow, time flew by me this time.
I've been out of the loop so far, because I've had some family issues.
My father was diagnosed with a brain tumour a few months ago, which messed up his vision, and he wasn't fit to drive, then my mother sprained her leg badly, and had it strapped up. So our usual childcare support hasn't been there, during the summer school holidays.
He's had his operation, and is back home, so I can feel more justified in goofing off on frivolous activities.
I have an already-playtested monstrous pirate NPC, that I was hoping to use, but I don't know if you'll end up with too many WorW submissions. It still needs its background tweaking to be more Golarion-specific (since I statted it up, and playtested it, for a Greyhawk campaign). Dazylar can vouch for its lethality, at least!
Other than that, I have an idea for a group of related magic items, but as with every issue, the hard part isn't the ideas, but the second-guessing if it hasn't already been done in an existing product. I'm way behind on my AP reading, so I'll try to skim Serpent's Skull and Skulls & Shackles, to be sure I'm not reinventing the wheel.

I should also say that we are good to go on longer fiction pieces. Our arrangement with the Pathfinder Chroniclers to provide the 1500 and 3000 word fiction pieces works out extremely well for both them and Wayfinder.
I will still accept the 750-word stories, and I will still consider some 1500-word stories, but my preference will first go to the Chronicler-vetted stories, and will always be dependent on if there is still space available in the issue.

No, I'm not talking stat blocks and backstories. Open up RotRL#1. Go to the article on Sandpoint. See all the text on the Sandpoint townspeople? THAT.
We've had articles like this before. They are usually "Notable persons of X" with X being a town, an organization, a business, a church, etc. It gives brief descriptions of the NPCs, with (expert 2) or (diplomat 3) or (noble 5), indicating their NPC class.
What I'm asking for is the flavor text, the "fluff", describing Golarion, much like all of the text in the Inner Sea Guide. Article on the mechanics (the crunch) is great, but we need to have some variety here, some fiction, some flavor, some rules and stat blocks, some mini-games, and some side-trek adventures.
...
My only request is that the article you send in is ON THEME.
I'll try to get my butt out of the wagon and do a write-up on one of the islands off Avistan's coast this weekend.

I'll see if I can't switch gears and come up with an organization or two instead. Are you looking for a stat block like in the most recent Superstar competition?
Maybe take another shot at a monster too, while I'm at it.
Yes, the organization should probably fit the Paizo format. Now, the Superstar limited folks to 400 words. For Wayfinder, you can expand it to our word count targets of either 750 or 1500 words. (Remember, come as close to those targets as possible!)
Also, try and think nautical themes! Trading Companies. Pirates. Sahuagin Kelp Forest Preservation Society!
Above all, be creative, and root it to the campaign setting!

ADVERTISING IN WAYFINDER #8
Hello everyone! As the editor-in-chief of the Wayfinder fanzine put out under the "Paizo Fans United" banner, it is once again time to execute my duty to try and raise funds for the next print issue (#9) to give to attendees at PaizoCon 2013.
To raise funds, we ask 3rd party publishers if they would like to donate funds to support Wayfinder in exchange for page space in our issues to promote their company and products. 99% of this money goes to printing costs. That other 1% has gone towards limited promotion efforts (our ENnie entry fee).
Right now, we are looking for groups interested in placing an ad in our winter issue, Wayfinder #8, which features a nautical theme focusing on the seas and coasts of Golarion.
The rates are going to be the same as in past years.....and I think that they're still pretty reasonable.
Full Page — $75 donation
Half Page — $50 donation
Quarter Page —$25 donation
Ad Graphics:
Format 300dpi
PSD, TIFF, PNG, JPG, PDF
Full Page — 8 1/2 x 11 inches
Half Page — 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches
Quarter Page — 4 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches
Now, we would appreciate it if you could reserve ad space by October 31st, for planning purposes. The ad graphic file and the payment would need to be in to us by November 15th, to be applied to the layout.
Please contact wayfinder dot fanzine at gmail dot com if you are interested! Thanks!

Heya Tim,
What types of submissions are under-represented (if any) for this issue? I've got a Weal/Woe and a related 750-ct sorcerer bloodline/extra arcane "stuff." (I'd rather exempt myself from the running for the sidetrek). The second submission can stand alone, but one of the Weal/Woe NPCs is build around the new bloodline.

We need more flavor/fluff articles (see post above!).
We need more monsters. We need a little bit more crunchy rules stuff. Oceanic magic items, sea spells, Kingdom building rules (on raising a navy?). That sort of thing.
Really, folks....don't fret on what I need. What I NEED is a nice large number of submissions from which to choose articles. I'd rather have to make the hard decisions of what is accepted, and what is not, than to have to make the decision to make the issue 20 pages less, because I didn't get enough content.

Realm Building article submitted. New hex resources and improvements, leadership roles, an event, buildings, settlement qualities, orders for squadrons, and navy rules for BP and consumption. I just hope it makes the cut!
Sounds awesome! Here's somebody who definitely would like to read it!

Circumstances have conspired that it looks like I might not have my a shortstory done in time. Flare-ups at work. Been down with a cold. And I've got a week-long business trip coming up that I had to prepare for. The muse kind of left me at one point, too. So, I'll see how things go this weekend, but I may sit out this issue.

This sums up my opinion of that development.
