The rebellious allure of seizing adventure is there, which is why she can take off. What I am more getting at, is what has she done that is good? Pour drinks? Run a business? Mourn?
She later wants to help the people of Minkai, okay, who has she helped more locally? Some failed family diplomacy if I recall. Any donations? Teaching music without payment?
See seems more a daughter that had to follow the rules and learn appropriate skills because of father's wishes (pushed to lawful), that broke free to go be a wild girl with other adventurers (CN), that has now settled down after catastrophe, overseeing some projects and businesses (N).
Good? Got any examples of charity work or helping others? Seems neutral.

I think she is good because she cares about people and despises evil. No one says you can't be both rebellious and hot-headed and still be a good person. And being a good person isn't just doing charity and being generally nice to people, but rather which way your moral compass points to. It's the guide to how a character will approach most situations.
Good characters and creatures protect innocent life.
Good implies altruism, respect for life, and a concern for the dignity of sentient beings. Good characters make personal sacrifices to help others.
I think the definition of a good character according to the SRD fits Ameiko perfectly well. At least that's the way I have been portraying her in my Campaign.

I'm at a loss to see what any of these 'Ameiko' threads have added to the entire discussion of this Adventure Path. I think that this thread should be closed and 3.5 shouldn't be allowed to open another 'Ameiko' thread.
Normally I don't like joining arguments like this, but I have to agree. We already, and finally might I add, had a LEGITIMATELY constructive topic on Ameiko that was created one day before this topic by 3.5 was created. Why create nearly identical topics when one was just recently made? Only reason I see is that one (by Lord Fyre) was meant to be more positive and constructive, while this one is essentially a copy/paste of the previous thread(s) 3.5 Loyalist posted before, which either got locked down or 'died'.
It is clear every time this topic questioning the 'mary sue' of a character is posted, it immediately devolves into debates that just don't add anything constructive to the Jade Regent Board in general and seems to just get locked in the end anyway. Not to mention pulling attention away from a similar topic that is actually legitimately adding to the board.
this is the topic I am referring to by the way.

Just had the oddest thought. The good guys win, a good ruler is put in place. Then you realise, the people liked and preferred the reliability of an evil ruler. That could be so difficult to re-educate everyone. Judges keep handing down lawful evil punishments with lawful evil legal codes. Damn administration.
Could you tell me the episode?

RE: the original questions...
** spoiler omitted **
In our campaign, I am playing Ameiko's brother who has been fascinated with samurai and Minkai for many years, infact he is a Samurai. After a lot of unpleasantness in the campaign, alot of it caused by Ameiko, she has settled down and has named 2 primary advisors. I am one of them. One of my areas is to help train her in the culture of Minkai and prepare her to rule the Land of the Samurai. Fortunately, I have Suishen to help as everything my character knows, or thinks he knows has come from a small collection of books. I have been trying ever since we left Sandpoint to inform the others of the great difference in culture between Avistan and Tian Xa. There is little actual information on Tian Xa, a primer and a gazateer. Mostly the DM has allowed me to make up the culture as we go. As stated in the gazateer, I have based alot of it on feudal Japan.

Given that this thread was necroed without the necro post even having anything to do with its original topic, I think I am well within my rights to ask for this undead abomination to be put down, before it rises again, stronger than before. ^^
With fire. It's the only way to make sure.

I am a bit worried Ameiko may come off as a damsel in distress for this adventure, btw, given how various baddies may target her at times. It might not be a problem, but any ideas what I could do in case my players decide to see her as the "escorted NPC that always gets in trouble" a la Ashley from RE 4?

Well, I personally had an event happen to change her class to my homebrewn Swashbuckler, which was a much better fit for her stated personality than the Bard we got. The problem with Ameiko is that her description makes it sound like she likes to and can kick all kinds of ass... but then she is a Bard with STR 10 and few offense capabilities.
But I noticed this damsel-in-distress syndrome a few years ago, too and thus decided to not always target Ameiko. Hence, the ninjas in module two abducted Shalelu (since Ameiko was too well protected) and then I changed her class and after that she kicked so much behinds that the damsel-in-distress thing simply didn't come up anymore. :p
