Also, this.
Very, very good ratings, Aranna. I approve, though I would give 08 MS Team an A+. You also neglected Gundam F91, V Gundam and Ring of Gundam(not that that last counts).
This was not a mistake.
I haven't seen anything past Unicorn in the time line... and upon looking up the timeline so I could post it I noticed after UC 155 there are two endings to the UC timeline, each different. And Unicorn makes such a perfect ending. But for completeness:
Mobile Suit Gundam F91 (UC0123)
Mobile Suit Victory Gundam (UC0153)
and either:
G-Saviour (UC223)
Turn A (UC3000+)
or
Gaia Gear (UC203)
Madwing Artificial Newtypes (UC?)
But this was just a web search... I am not very familiar with the UC timeline past Unicorn.

It's that time of year again.
Here's this year's Kotaku's Summer Anime Guide. Of course, Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Crystal is on it, as is Space Dandy 2 and Sword Art Online II, but there are some other interesting choices, though some don't have Western simulcast announced yet.
What catches your interest? I'm pretty sure the Gundam fans (myself included) will enjoy Mobile Suit Gundam-san (a parody of the original MSG), but I'm looking to find out more about Momo Kyun Sword, Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya 2wei!, and Argevollen (Shirogane no Ishi Argevollen).

Inasmuch as "anime" is and always has been the French word for Animation, co-opted into Japanese and later mainstream cross-border jargon, and that what I'm about to ask is related to a show that many of us love dearly:
Does anyone know where I can view legit streams of Legend Of Korra Book 3?
Nick.com doesn't appear to have the full episodes up, nor do they appear to have any plans to do so.
And as I refuse to let Comcast into my home... I'm a little SOL, here, unless one of you kind souls can take my hand and guide me lovingly toward my dream? :)

I believe the fact that NickMexico leaked episodes 3-5 on their episode by accidentally publishing them, means Nick does plan on streaming them on their website.
I'm not sure on the legality of this, but I know you can watch them here/ It looks like they are just recordings of the TV broadcasts, but I'm not sure.

For seasons 1 and 2, the episodes were up on Nick.com approximately 24 hours after air date. We're several weeks in to the season, and they still have only 1-2 minute clips on the site, no full episodes, and the clips do not form full episodes.
I'm reluctant to use the .tv link due to previously mentioned issues of dubious legality.
Hopefully you're right and the stream will arrive soon.

Because I've always liked jemstone's taste in anime...
I liked Sorcerous Stabber Orphen a lot, at least the first season. The second season (Revenge) was less serious than the first and that was an instant turn-off. And while the first season had its share of gags, Orphen's quest didn't suffer for it.
That's something I run into often. Fantasy shows that seem to be serious at first blush, but turn out to be a satire or parody of the genre. And that frustrates me to no end. It's probably because I've been spoiled by Record of Lodoss War (The OVAs).

I read an article (can't recall where) that letting the stream be available so soon afterward actually hurt the show some. So many people opted to wait for the stream on Nick.com 24 hours later, that it hurt the TV views, and consequently, revenue (via advertisements) or something like that.
I know the first three episodes will be up for HD download on July 14th, so maybe that's when they'll be streaming too.

did you ever see Louie the Rune Knight. Walks a nice line between silly and serious. Basically about a Fighter, a Thief and a Cleric who are looking for a Wizard to round out their adventuring group and they find Louie, who, while a skilled wizard...of sorts... is a little low on the common sense and a little high on the Str and Con and much more incined to boozing and brawling than most other Wizards.

Clarification!
Louie the Rune Soldier was far from serious my good sir!It had some damn funny moments, but it was a comedy from start to finish. More of a tongue in cheek fantasy adventure like Slayers, then anything serious. Even the Main Plot was resolved...comically.

As a Lodoss fan, it was my duty to see Magical Knight Louie (the series takes place on the main continent of Alecrast). And from reading the product description, you know that it's going to be silly. So I knew what I was getting into with that one. I can enjoy the occasional fantasy comedy (like Slayers or Magical Knight Louie). But I want something more serious as well (like Hero Tales) and more often than not, that's not what I get.
A good example is Momo Kyun Sword. I was hoping for a serious series, but as it turns out the show is a magical girl fantasy with comedy and fan service. Not that there's anything wrong with that (I'm a big Devil Hunter Yoko fan, which this show kind of reminds me of in regards to the main character).

Greylurker |

You would probably enjoy Guin Saga or Twelve Kingdoms. Those are some of my favorite in the sword and sorcery side of Anime.
I saw Momo Kyun myself earlier today. Not horrible but not exactly great. Your description pretty much nails it on the head, although I do like the God Possession/Transformation idea

Given that Nick.com's streams have regular commercial inserts that can't be skipped, I'd question that article's reasoning. But you may be on to something.
I'll keep checking, though! I'm nothing if not persistent! Like a rash! ;)
And Blayde, thank you. :)

True, the Nick videos do have ad inserts, but, if I recall, they only advertise for other Nick content. It's not the ~4 commercial breaks that last for 2-3 minutes that appear on a normal episode on the TV.

Well, even the Lodoss War TV series was serious as well, as long as you ignored the chibi bits at the end of each episode.
I'd love to see a high production value re-do of Lodoss War from beginning to end instead of the odd diverging storylines aspect where you have to watch the OVAs up to the confrontation with Karla and then watch the TV series and ignore the continuity errors if you want the full story.
Then again, other than the fact that there's that weird time skip near the end, I prefer the OVA storyline to the TV show's, even though I know the latter is more true to the books. So I don't know.

So for the summer:
Argevollen seems far better than I thought it would be, but I'm still wondering what Aldnoah Zero's inevitable twist is gonna be, especially since it seems set on playing the bad guys so dead straight.
Rail Wars seems kinda ordinary, but has a little potential. I'll watch a few more episodes to see where it goes.
As a Harem anime, Rokujouma no Shinryakusha seemed to be a guilty pleasure at best. I did not expect it to go so balls-out CRAZY in the first episode. I've definitely gotta see what happens next.
I'm really hoping they'll make the Sailor Senshi and Tuxedo Kamen(Rider?) A little more capable in Sailor Moon Crystal than they were in the original anime. I can forgive the first episode, though.
Also, fourteen episodes in, and I'm still watching Majin Bone and Avengers. I didn't expect either to hold me this long.
Less surprising is that Captain Earth is still going strong.

Discovered Sidonia on Netflix, and I'm really liking it so far. I like the transhuman touches, though I don't know what the deal is with the bear chef, or why there's only one character of the third gender.
I also had an epiphany while watching the first few episodes: anime/manga is the only genre I can think of that includes protagonists who manage to be both bad-boy risk-takers and nervously oblivious doofuses.
Hm...

I cant beleive i didnt know this trhead existed, its great!
HAs anyone mentioned Kill-la-kill yet? Its in the vein of Panty-Stocking mixed with Gurren Lagann, i highly reccomend it who like shows with energy and style. Every character in the show is a viable player character / villain, even the villains.

Kill-la-kill was amazing, hopefully the "special" 25th episode that's coming out this fall is worth the wait for it.

You echo my sentiments closely, also you should check out Akame ga kill. Two episodes in and it's showing really good promise. So far I'd discribe it as Mood Whiplash the series. It bounces between jokes and deadly serious violent combat/mature themes very rapidly but timed well enough that it's enjoyable.

Greylurker |

I've heard it's good, but I can't get over my hatred of the costume designs. IMO, they manage to both ugly and way too fanservicey to take seriously.
In some ways that was the point of it. The whole story revolves around clothing.
and to be fair by the end of the series the men are wearing even less

Read back a ways it gets mentioned.
I will reprint my take on Kill-la-Kill:
And I did watch all of Kill la Kill... Though I almost quit the idiotic show after episode 2. Still after the boyfriend said "Keep watching it gets better" I found myself liking the characters by the end... and that redeemed the show for me. The only part of the show I didn't see coming a mile away was when
definitely worth watching even if it doesn't rank among the best anime.

I personally enjoyed kill la kill. Sure their was fan service, but it seemed less about sexualizing the characters and more just showing the sheer absurdity of the series. Definitely not an award winning show, but as a viewer I felt engaged the entire time and wanting to watch it. I'd give a high recommendation to watch it.
I watched the first episode of SAO II. It's a series I'm kind of hesitant about. I thought the first arc was good and liked the story. But the second arc, while it had a few things I liked, it also had a few too many I didn't. The end villain being a tad too creeping me out being one. I'm going to give it a chance though.
Don't suppose anyone knows if Log Horizon is getting another season or not?

Not going to spoiler anything, but that villain felt to me like one of those villains who was written to be really heinous, but then rated-PGified due to network censorship.

Rurouni Kenshin 2: Kyoto - The Legend Ends trailer
[Edit] Ok, further information. From what I found is that this trailer is for both sequels to the original movie. There will be one, roughly titled as Kyoto Fire, and the second will be the Legend Ends. My understanding is that the whole Shishio/Kyoto arc will take place over two movies, and then they will adapt the next arc, Last of a Legend.
I don't know how much of this is true, but it would make sense as the Kyoto arc had a lot happen in it.

Akame ga Kill has been interesting so far. It's science fantasy and not straight up fantasy (typical), but it actually feels like someone's homebrew setting, so that's something. Only done with 2 episodes so far, but I like the 'naive village boy looking to help his village by becoming a swordsman in the big city' protagonist.

Rurouni Kenshin 2: Kyoto - The Legend Ends trailer
Didn't see the original, so I was not expecting live action! It looks like good ol' fashioned good vs. evil stuff, though after reading a borrowed copy of the first comic, I'm lukewarm about Rurouni Kenshin. All of the 2-3 stories I read were "Bad guys show up, threaten Megumi(?) and townsfolk, and then Rurouni shows up at the last moment to save the day." I was told that the comics eventually get more interesting, though, so maybe I shouldn't be judging the entire line by its first book.

The recent episode of Marvel Disk Wars actually had a quick burn at their source material.
Setup: Tony and Pepper have decided to enroll the kids in a super-advanced school so they can continue their education while searching for other DISKs. However, both Wolverine (It's a Marvel work, of course he's gonna show up) and Sabretooth have appeared on the warpath. Wolverine is angry at Tony because the DISK system can easily be used to persecute Mutants just like the Sentinels were. Case in point: He's carrying the DISK currently holding Cyclops, who got sealed by the badguys (along with Beast) in the second episode.
The burn of course comes when Iron Man explains to the kids (and the audience) about the troubles Mutants have been having. The kids almost immediately find it ridiculous that Mutants are hated for their powers while people like Wasp, Spidey and Iron Man are considered heroes. :)

Has there been an anime with a better food fight than the one in the new episode of RWBY?
That was an awesome food fight! \m/
