HOLY CRAP
My boss at the third job really, REALLY wants me to send in a picture of myself and a bio to use because I am THEIR EDITOR up at their website!!!!!! I will link here once it's up. I have never written a bio before- what do I do?!

I'd start by checking out any other bios on the website to get a sense of what your colleagues have done (length, how personal to make it, humor, etc.).

She did not win. My gay running mate did. Prom Queen nominations were pretty stacked. There were five nominees for king, and fifteen for queen. Guys probably thought they had a better chance running for king.

I guess you do have a better chance with less competition.
A little late with the whole crossing genders in history/literature, but I've been recently poking through a book about pirates and came across the story of Anne Bonney and Mary Read.
Apparently, they were both female pirates passing as male, and they only discovered each other when one of them made a pass at the other! (I forget which.)

Checking the format of others to be sure it matches in content and tone, as noted, otherwise most brief pro bios go something like this:
"Freehold DM has been the editor of placeholder name for x amount of time. He has has done similar work in the past for x and y, and received his name of college degree and major from university in x. He also has relevant or impressive vocational positions here, here, and here, and his professional interests include x, y, and z. He volunteers at the Orphan Rescuing Association. In his free time he plays pretendy funtime games, watches anime, and knits grenade launchers. He has a wife, name of wife, and if any kids, names of kids."
Obviously insert what is relevant, omit what isnt, and don't include info you are not comfortable sharing (e.g., some offer brief info on families, some don't). If the categories mentioned don't apply to you, skip to the next. Some places may want to know hobbies, and interests, others don't, so that's where looking at prior examples comes in.

Tonight I had a kind of funny dream/wakening up.
The one I'm in love with is from another part of the country, about 800 miles away. I dreamt I was going to them by train, and when I was about to switch from train to bus for the last 120 miles and was talking to them on phone, I started waking up.
And I was like "no, no, I don't want to wake up, I want to dream about hanging out with my love! sleep, g*%#**n, sleep!!!". Only to realize that nowadays, we live together and they were sleeping right next to me.
That was awesome and now this morning I'm so g%@~&*n happy because I don't live a 22 hour train travel from them anymore.
Guh. 22 hours. That's sounds kind of terrible. I had a 5 hour drive to Amarillo to see a girlfriend for awhile and that was pretty awful.
Well, 22 hours of train is better than 5 hours of car IMO, because on a train I don't have to focus on driving, I can just chill out, play some ADOM or read a book. And eat. G@!&%&n, I love eating on trains. And I don't have to stay completely sober.
Evening:
Two full meals of Indian food from a local restaurant and four naan bread
Four strong cider (heh)
Morning:
A full loaf of bread, a tube of tartex, and four tomatoes
A litre of soyghurt
Lunch:
About a pound vegetarian swedish meatballs w/ sauce
About a pound of cooked potatoes
A six-pack of low-alcohol beer
Snacks:
4 apples, 3 oranges and 4 bananas
about a pound of candy and half that amount of crisps and a six-pack of swedish chocolate balls and a six-pack of swedish punch rolls
Granted, we were two, and there where some slices of bread left when we arrived, but still... Eating is the best thing to do on a train. And play magic the gathering.

Yeah, that sounds much more pleasant than spending five hours trying to keep away and changing radio stations every 1.5 hours. ^_^
I've never really eaten on train. They aren't very big in any part of the states that I've lived in. It sounds really nice though. I bet it would be a great place for a Call of Cthulhu game if you could round up enough people.
To visit my girlfriend, it's luckily only a two hour drive from Melbourne to Ft Lauderdale. I usually just plug my MP3 player into my stereo and blare whatever music happens to be on there. Beats constantly finding a radio station.
Turnpike makes it more bearable, with less traffic. Sunpass is a nice thing to beat the tolls too.
I don't remember where I found a link to this video (I really hope it wasn't here, or I'll feel like a moron) but I really liked it:
I love train travel (though I've never done a 22 hour trip--I think the longest I've done is 9 hours, which was overnight so I just slept on the train). I did entertain the notion that if Paizocon ever falls on a weekend I could go, I'd make a vacation of it and take the train cross country (take the train to Chicago, then transfer to the northwestish train that ends in Seattle). I always thought it would be cool to see the country by train.
That said, at least the Amtrak trains I usually ride you can't heat up food and the stuff from the diner car is often questionable, but packing cold snacks works well and is fun.

You could always take the Silver Service (stops in Miami and Jacksonville and heads up the coast to New York). How you get to Miami or Jacksonville I can't help you.

Just dropping in to point out that the new web fiction series which started today is chock-full of gay romance. (It's basically the story of Aladdin if both he and Princess Jasmine were men.)

I just changed locations for where I work. Same company but different location. I'm thinking that this may be a good time for me to go back into the closet. I don't have to change anything with my friends but I can take this time to not share with my coworkers. I am finding that I'm not really happy no matter what clothing I'm wearing. I am also finding that it's not possible for me to find someone if I don't become what others want. I'm tired of being lonely. I'm tired of being confused. This is probably not the right forum for spilling all this but I don't really have anyone to talk to.

I am also finding that it's not possible for me to find someone if I don't become what others want. I'm tired of being lonely. I'm tired of being confused. This is probably not the right forum for spilling all this but I don't really have anyone to talk to.
A lot of people especially young transgendered/cross dressers purge to one degree or another. It's a shared experience and most of us understand that pretty well. You should do what you need to do. One of the things that many transgendered people don't quite get up front is that transitioning and getting surgery won't solve all of your problems. If you were medically depressed before you will likely be medically depressed afterward, you'll just have one less thing to trigger you. It's a big thing and it can help a lot but all of your problems are still there and it will probably create some new problems.
I guess all I'm saying is, do what's right for you. Sometimes the closet can be a good space to feel safe when you aren't. Sometimes it's claustrophobic. But you can deal with that if and when it comes around again.

What Lissa said, basically. ALL personal change is a game of two steps forward, one step back, and it takes time to reach a situation you feel you want. And it's not a bad idea to check with a doctor whether you have a depression anyhow.

Spill all you want, Bob. But since you do feel a need to talk to someone, have you considered counseling?
It's not for everyone, and you've got to figure out what's right for you. For what it's worth I know my counselor has helped me deal with a lot of issues that otherwise I probably would have drowned in (a strange phrasing, I know, but that's my best description for it). I hope you can find some kind of safe outlet at least.
I have a psychiatrist who has been wonderful with my PTSD and bipolar. She's started doing research into LGBT issues for about a year. He daughter came out last year. She hadn't really had to deal with it until then. I'm having a hard time finding the money and time to see all my doctors.
Maybe finding someone with lgbt issues as an area of expertise might be the way to go. Doesn't have to be a psychiatrist (maybe even better if it's not). Some lgbt organizations offer some services for free. I don't know what's available in your area but maybe it's worth looking up?
Do you have a local PFLAG, Bob? Can you email/Facebook PM/call them to see if they know any local experts/specialists that might be able to help? Even if the PFLAG rep you talk don't know off the top of their head, they can always ask the group the next time it gets together.

Yes. Some people are frightened that people different from them exist, because it challenges their own tiny, fragile, barely formed sense of identity because they've lived their lives learning to try to be what other people expect instead of serve their true selves. And it makes them jerks. And it's stupid.
