Ultimate Classes: Pretty Please?

I'd like to see more prestige classes. Since archetypes fill that role from 3.5 pretty well, my thought is that they would focus on scaling abilities of PCs that have multiclassed.

Not many more prestige classes, please.

Just say no to bloat. It's almost too big as it is now.

+1 billion

No more Bloat. Support what exists now.

I wouldn't mind an ultimate archetype book.

They're really making an ultimate prestige book? ugh, was so happy when i thought they gave up on prestige classes. There's one book i won't be adding to the campaign.

The prestige book is called Paths of Prestige, it's a 64-page softcover as a part of Pathfinder Campaign Setting line, the PrCs are Golarion-specific and no Ultimate Prestige book was announced yet (and hopefully never will be).

This is how it should be, I hate generic prestige class bloat. A few are useful in the core rules to give template for creating you own for home brewed worlds but that's all there should be. From there specific campaign centric prestige class just give so much more flavor to the game world.

I think a pre-epic book would also be really useful. At levels 10+, it gets hard to challenge PCs without the encounters being too swingy.

Also, the pre-epic handbook could give tips on dealing with other features of high-level games, like everyone being capable of flight, invisiblity, teleporting, etc. Also tips on enhancing BBEG action economy, making low CR mooks still challenging, dealing with high level divinations, permanent spell effects, customized magic items, clones and simulacra, etc. etc.

I like the Priest out of Tome of Secrets. I also like Occupations, though I'd stick with starting money by adventuring class and just add a bonus based on the amount shown for Occupation without the x10 multiplier.

Personally, what I'd like to see in an Ultimate Classes book would be a compilation of all the classes and class options from all of the other books in one centralized book.

And by that, I don't mean a reprint of feats or spell lists, but each class and it's archtypes and other options (such as FC options), one chapter each, all in a nice, easy, centralized source.

I think this is a great idea.

Let's remember that the base classes we have today were not as good as they are now. They've all been improved over the years.

I like this idea.

All those complaining about rules bloat do realize that no one is forcing you to purchase books that add more options, spells, classes etc. Not to mention Paizo said they would attempt to keep rules bloat to a minum. Not remove it entirely. Nor are an of the devs going to tie you to a chair playing classical music and brainwash you into buying new books like in Clockwork Orange. It's the nature of any successful rpg to want offer new options.

My reasons for the epic and psionic books to be released first is that they can make updates to the classes in the book beyond 20th level. Still may give them a reason to publish a Ultimate Classes 2.

+ 100 Trllion to more options of any and all kinds.

I'm excited for Paths of Prestige. Personally, I really dislike generic prestige classes. I realize that others might want them for their homebrew game, but I enjoy playing in Golarion, and I'm really excited to see some Golarion-centric PrCs. Stuff like the Red Mantis Assassin and Hellknight PrCs make me drool over the opportunity to play one in a campaign, because they really fill the role they're supposed to: classes that represent some extra ability or tie to an organization that goes beyond they average adventurer and has a certain "prestige" tied to it. It also ties you to the game world that much better.

That said, I'd personally prefer a greater focus on fluff now that they have most of the mechanics in place. Psionics and Epic haven't really been necessary yet. I'll be looking for the Psionics book when they start to flesh out the content for the Vudrani region, but that's likely a long way off. Setting-specific PrCs satisfy my hunger for good fluff as well as the need for mechanics to express it; as far as I'm concerned, it's a win-win.
