Souldrinker's Cacodaemon

Rules Questions

Level 1 of the Souldrinker PrC grants a Cacodaemon familiar. However, it makes no mention of what your effective level for the familiar is. My guess would be either you only get a level 1 familiar or it's based on the Souldrinker class level (plus any previous familiar-granting class). I suppose if a GM was feeling especially generous, having the familiar be based on caster level would be possible too (please don't ask your GM for this). Any opinions on what it's supposed to be?

i'd say, based off Souldrinker caster level pluss any levels in a class that grants a familiar

as this site shows how a familiar is advanced based on levels granting familiars

as you can branch into a Souldrinker from a cleric (and druid) the levels in Souldrinker alone i assume grants familiar effects, otherwise the cleric is stuck with a tiny Deamon that is VERY squishy =)

Edit: added cleric bit.

Souldrinker link
Herm...Id assume that it would be your souldrinker lvl's plus any other lvl's of a class that grants a Familiar

if we look at the rules for Familiars

Levels of different classes that are entitled to familiars stack for the purpose of determining any familiar abilities that depend on the master's level.

as well as here;

All familiars have special abilities (or impart abilities to their masters) depending on the master's combined level in classes that grant familiars, as shown on the table below. The abilities are cumulative.

and the fact that the souldrinker's cacodaemon is as if improved Familiar

At 1st level, the souldrinker gains a cacodaemon familiar, as if she had the Improved Familiar feat. If the souldrinker already has a familiar, the cacodaemon devours it (which does not penalize the souldrinker). The souldrinker counts as an evil outsider for the purpose of utilizing cacodaemon soul gems.

Personaly love the Cacodaemon DR5, energy resistance 10 to cold electricity and fire,Fast healing 2 combined with at will invisibility makes for a not so squishy buddy

Actually, the fact that it is as if Improved Familiar could mean that you are 7th level for that purpose, since normally you should be 7-th level to gain a cacodaemon...

Sorry for the thread Necro...
