Good luck Forencinth!

I expect that you'll be instrumental in strengthening the ties between our organizations :)

Goblin Squad Member

I promise to do my best for the well being of both communities...as I am able. Thank you.

Goblin Squad Member

As I am probably the most recognizable face of The Seventh Veil (although by no means the most important) I want to state very clearly that we are proud of the contributions that Forencith/KitNyx has made to our community, and we wish him and PAX success and happiness.

We parted ways with sorrow, not with anger.

Just thought I'd let you know, Forencith, there are plenty of farewell posts and well wishing. We'll miss you *sniff*

Goblin Squad Member

Aww, thanks Blaeringr...who says hack-fu must be used for evil?

Goblinworks Executive Founder

Aw, Blaeringr. I thought that you had forgotten that you were trying to spy on us. Now I see that you still think that you can cause us to tear ourselves apart trying to dig out you and yours.

And no, I'm no so foolish as to post a quote from your 'private' correspondence which provides evidence about my ability to intercept it. ;)

Goblin Squad Member

Oh no, that was just an amusing side effect that you guys did in fact go nuts for a while. I've made my intentions pretty clear in The Kingdom of Aeternum thread: I infiltrate you in a way you can't root out, and casually use the more available information from time to time as it suits me. You're still not getting that I act more as an opportunist than as one who forms complex plots.

And as far as quoting "private" correspondence, other than my messages on the forums with one of your members who did not take up my offer, you have no ability to intercept anything. It's amusing to see such a feeble attempt to make a company of one turn against himself in paranoia though ;)

Goblin Squad Member

Oh noes! Blaeringr has a spy in our guild! Whatever shall we do??!!

We must PURGE! We must rip our hair out in frustration at his awesome powers of infiltration!

Or maybe we'll just say "welcome aboard" and treat you like a productive member of our community as long as you remain so.

Goblin Squad Member

... Blaeringr, you really shouldn't take credit for things that you played minor roles in.

Do you practice sounding like a cheesy villain from a bad superhero movie?

I get the Bowler Hat Guy impression :P

Goblin Squad Member

Thanks for the link, Dak. That was quite entertaining :)

LOL, It's already begun?

You know if it weren't completely OOC (which I simply refuse to do in a Role-Playing Game), I think I'd setup a macro to constantly PM Blaeringr every 2 minutes with my in-game position and what I am doing so he can send bandits to come ambush me.

After all guard duty is pretty boring and I'm going to need to keep up my sword skills if I'm going to stay upto the standards of the GL.

Sounds like a Win-Win to me. What do you guys think?

P.S. Maybe I can get Blaeringr to kick in a few coins for Ale...fighting bad guys is thirsty work after-all. What do you say Blae?

P.P.S. He always struck me as more of a white cat on the lap kinda guy ;)

That is quite possibly the funniest thing I've seen this week - and it's been a pretty good week for funny!

It's cute the way you pretend to believe that you know about everyone who's come to us talking about you.

Oh, I know that at least a couple of them were probably outright lying because they want to play the 'I'm a spy!' game, but I think there are more double (or treble) agents than you know about.

And yes, I want you to think that I'm bluffing for the purpose of trying to make you paranoid. I'm not going to explain my entire psych strategy just yet. Let's just say that I prefer to play games that don't contain a losing outcome.

Goblin Squad Member

So let me get this straight: I approach some individuals, who I know are in your company, and have a private conversation about betraying you guys. Now I'm supposed to be surprised that some of them are telling you about those conversations? Well done, Sherlock, well done indeed.

What I'd find more interesting is how many of them have not told you about it. But that's a number that neither you nor I presently know.

Obakararuir wrote:

I honestly don't think I have done much. And to be fair, I can't give due credit to those who have done more than I have. Most of my talk on these forums has been speculation about what could be done by serious spies, and I suspect that some assume I am talking about my own future intentions. Being a full time spy bores me. Sure, I've made up a phony name and gotten accepted into a company or two for a game that doesn't even exist yet - but that's not really an accomplishment, and it's about the only claim I've made about what I've accomplished.

As far as the drama that unfolded on other forums, I actually missed it. I'd taken a break from these and other forums for over a month and when I came back I was disappointed to see all the fun I'd missed. But as the only visible figurehead of my organization (who all deserve a great deal of credit for holding their tongues so well) what else can I do but point and comment on what happened? If it looks like taking credit, don't expect me to tell you who actually pulled it off.

@Blaeringr, we don't expect anything at all when it comes to you, except that you'll poke your head in occasionally to twirl your mustache.

Yes! And I do enjoy the back and forth, but sometimes I worry, in a very out of character way, that people think I'm trying to accomplish so much more than I actually am.

I really don't want to see the Seventh Veil crushed and tossed out with the refuse. I think you guys are good for the game and would consider it a huge loss were anyone to actually succeed in driving a real wedge into what you've created. And I've actually heard the same from you guys on occasion: that some of you guys appreciate the way I'm bringing evil with some flair to the game without being a complete and awful troll about it.

Hang on, I'm confused... is this a gnat on the shoulders kind of threat or a jock itch kind of threat? We need some sort of scale...

Right now the impression I'm getting is like that episode of the Drew Carey show where Drew discovers this group that hates him (and has been doing so for so long they have t-shirts and weekly meetings). He discovers this because he's got a sudden illness and the group is worried that they might lose their raison d'etre (and, it is discovered later that they've actually hated Drew for so long they like him).

Additionally, I feel like we're not holding up our end of the bargain. Here you are, with your dark tentacles in our little organization constantly trying to ferret out important information and we don't even have important information to ferret out. Its not entirely our fault, of course... the game is still many many months from release - we don't even know the very basics about the system. The most we have are some maps from a Kingmaker campaign we're playing in our spare time. (hint: the Kobolds are going to win!)

Look I don't want you to feel that we're not worthy of your spying and we certainly don't want you to get bored with us. I'll have a talk with the founders and we'll try, really try to give you some sort of reason to notice us. Okay? But you have to do your part. I expect to see cryptic responses left on the boards to give us complicated clues as to who you might be.

Because otherwise, you might have to trim that twirly moustache! The Evil League of Evil doesn't take kindly to slackers.

Goblin Squad Member

Well played sir! Villains also sometimes need to be reminded of what matters to them.

I'm off to steal more mustache wax!

Goblin Squad Member

Indeed. I look forward to your machinations! And don't shirk the 'vocal coach'!

Goblin Squad Member

Villains are indeed awesome if well played :)

Personaly, I've always found it takes me ALOT more mental energy to try to do one consistantly while RP-ing, so I've pretty much shyed away from ever trying to do one as a player. I can do a reasonable enough job as GM with them, given that I mostly only have to be IC with them for short burts of time doing that.

Goblin Squad Member

We have a Community Update 1 announcement up on our own boards. If you're a little curious about the Veil, feel free to check it out. It should be publicly accessible.

Goblin Squad Member

I'm going to occasionally bump this thread to keep it from getting archived.

Goblin Squad Member

Aren't we supposed to get new forums at some point in the future? I thought I read that somewhere. If so do we know if there are plans to move what's posted so far on these forums or is it a start anew deal?

Goblin Squad Member

Are you talking about "we" in The Seventh Veil getting new forums?

Or are you talking about "we" in the Pathfinder Online community?

Goblin Squad Member

Probably referring to Goblinworks eventually having their own forums.

Goblin Squad Member

Yup, what Skwiziks stated. Question was about PFO official forums.

Goblin Squad Member

The longer GW stays here the easier it is for them, they have access to Paizo's system and mods/admins and don't have to provide their own.

Ryan said they will eventually have their own forum, but they are in no rush to do so.

I wouldn't be surprised if we don't see official forums until the game needs to link to user accounts on a website.

Goblin Squad Member

Hey guys, how do you like my elephant? I got tired of trying to search for my posts in threads. Green is a nice, noticeable color. It was about time.

PS - I was very tempted there to blasphemously call it an oliphaunt, as I have been watching the extended versions of the LotR trilogy with my gf in preparation for The Hobbit.

...it has strained the relationship.

Goblin Squad Member

Hah! I like your Oliphaunt!

Goblin Squad Member

Hey guys, I want in on this. I'm a roleplayer, recruiter, writer, have a few websites (someone suggested wordpress that's the way to go), old skool PnP'er, and generally team player who is planning on being in on this for launch.

This sounds right up the alley of the 2-3 chars I had planned and let's me try out the fantasy/travel writing style I've been meaning to polish for years now.

I have some pretty crazy thoughts on where you can go with that guild theme, BTW. Congrats, this is the exactly the direction I would have gone if I were making a guild for this game.

Goblinworks Executive Founder

Feel free to put in an application on our forums.

Let me know if you have any trouble with that, or have any questions about the application process.

Goblin Squad Member

Yeah i have it all filled out but I can't find a "new post " option to post my apllication.

I am in GW2 and see you have a guild there. Are you in Tarnished Coast? If you are I'll want an invite for that too.

Goblinworks Executive Founder

Check out our application instructions.

Goblin Squad Member

Welcome, avari. I just read over your application and posted some questions. You've got quite a style... I like it :)

Goblin Squad Member

Seventh Veil,

You don't call, you don't write. How the heck have you folks been?

Goblin Squad Member

Hey, I write! A little too much if you ask some people :)

We're still here, patiently waiting. Occasionally, someone will step forward and want to get involved. But we're not really working on recruiting right now. It's too early, and there's just not enough going on to keep people's interest right now.

As we get closer to a release, we'll start putting more effort into convincing people that The Seventh Veil is a good place to call home. After all, we're dedicated to granting our members as much freedom to pursue their own goals and interests as possible.

Goblin Squad Member

Its the same news on our side, we have a relatively slow recruitment process while we eagerly await the technology demo. We are as a community excited over the amount of sandboxes that have been announced lately, though. Between Repopulation, EQ Next, Greedmonger, and PfO we are stoked about the future of the MMO market.

When the Seventh Veil is ready, Aeternum will still be interested in meeting with you guys more often and formally. I don't want to step on toes but of those I keep an eye on, the Veil ranks the top on well structured, intelligently represented organizations. When we consider well structured, well communicated alliances I think of Seventh as the first rational voice to talk to.

As a side note, a very happy Turkey Day to you and your members, and Blaeringr :)

Goblin Squad Member

@Kakafika I love the green ele...oliphaunt! The only thing I would have liked more (green being my favorite color) is if it were a rhinoceros!

Hello and welcome Avari3!

Goblin Squad Member

Thanks, Dak! "Well structured" and "intelligent" is definitely the vibe we're going for :)

I imagine we'll have to wait until we're actually in the game, watching the world unfold before us, before we really know what kinds of player-alliances will be necessary or beneficial. That said, I certainly see us having a strong and friendly relationship with Pax.

Not to overly push the point, but perhaps alliance is not the best term. I completely agree with your point and I would only add that it would be silly for any party involved to form an alliance that was not well thought out, recorded for posterity, and beneficial for all parties involved.

Alliance then is probably too strong a word this far off from launch. I do think it is not too far off to continue building favorable relations. Depending on how game elements move from theory to practice, there might be no need for either party to look for anything beyond friendly relations with other organizations. I doubt that will be the case, but until things get closer I have to agree there is no way either of us can tell.

We can decide, however, whether our two political structures would enjoy hosting server wide events promoted by both Aeternum and Seventh Veil. Contests or friendly competitions could even benefit our respective members experience.

Neither of us have to agree to allocate military or fiscal resources to each other for things of this nature :) I do want to add though that if that times comes I do honestly look forward to it. The best deals come up when both parties involved are iron firm in their commitment to give no ground when it comes to the betterment of their organization.

Goblinworks Executive Founder

I can agree in principle to some kind of deal in which neither party yields any ground regarding their own betterment. :)

I'm sure that we could arrange some silver medals for your competitors in said contests as well.

When it is the player base that is the largest contributor to content, we have an excellent opportunity and a responsibility to make that scenario as successful as possible.

I see no better way than the actual, real celebration of Golarion holidays,as well as the invention and celebration of our own. It has worked our in the past with SWG, a game I think was somewhat lacking even at launch. It works in the f2p themepark game LOTRO, with some rp events fielding hundreds. It will work for PFO, if we make a commitment to promote it.

Absolutely! We are very interested in Organized Events. I think the idea of establishing some kind of intramural league for these kinds of events would be a truly fantastic thing.

And I wasn't trying to be coy or standoffish about alliances. Sometimes, I don't express myself as well as I think I do.

Goblin Squad Member

Verbal and written communication is at its best imperfect, I wouldn't fret over it too much :P

Dak Thunderkeg wrote:

A new post has been made on our FORUMS going into a little more detail on our events , festivals, and titles. For those who might not have access here is the summations:

In the recruitment section of our Pathfinder Online forums, we pointed out a large aspect of what we hope to accomplish in the world of Golarion. We promised kingdom run events, festivals, as well as individualized titles. While that sounds good, what does it really mean?

For one, we will be observing certain Golarion Holidays by decorating and hosting the celebration in our own settlements and kingdom. Some of these festivals will be purely social, but others will also involve tourneys, gladiatorial matches, the showing of wares, and more. This will largely involve pairing the right festival with the right activities, but we look forward to the opportunity.

In one of our Pathfinder RPG events we used the Sunwrought Festival as a point in which we supported knight like activities of jousting, melee's, and more tied into the celebration. This date will see a resurgence when PfO enters launch phases. I can imagine no more fun than arranging an event in the sun goddess's honor, even perhaps coordinating the reenactment of the fight between the Dawnflower and Rough Beast.

At the end of every Sunwrought Festival, once a year (Post Launch ) we will bestow on one Freemen the title of a Knight of Aegisir, This title is given in honor of a member's time, prowess, or commitment to the kingdom over the course of the year. It will be coordinated from member submitted suggestions (Through Pm's to our leadership) and then voted on by the Wardens and Thanes. Only one member will recieve this honor for the year, and it will be presented at the end of the festival in front of his or her peers by the High Thane, Thanes, and Wardens. From that...

This is an update we finished this last week, but it details one of many festivals we hope to open up to the server community with. The Sarenrae festivals and the imagery behind them seem to be a great backdrop for neutral leaning festivals.

Goblin Squad Member

sorry, good leaning festivals. Not sure how Freud screwed that one up.

Need I think 3 more people for our Crowdforge Guild pool! See the website for my post there to get in on it!
