@Waruko, it would be a monumental task to manually re-post all of Ryan Dancey's posts over there. The only way a Dev Tracker really works is when it's automated. Hopefully Goblinworks will get their own forums up and running before long; they've already expressed an interest in starting a Dev Tracker, but it's just not possible here.

As for other things we might be able to do on our forums, I imagine that might come up at our next Founders' Meeting :)

wouldnt necessarily have to be reposts

just keep categories and when a dev posts something you can enter the info (paraphrased) under that category

sort of a "What we know"

categories could be:

PVP

Economy

Classes/Races

Crafting

Player Buildings

Skymetal Bits

Guilds/Chartered Groups

etc

etc

etc

p.s. it would be pretty substantial to be the FIRST guild to post this consistently ... increase market share lol

We've discussed it and are working on creating a FAQ and a sticky that we can edit as time goes by. We'll post something here when we have something ready.

That's exactly what I was talking about.

Since I saw this group, I loved the work folks put into it. I've avoided anything which suggested commitment to anything because of outside, real world constraints, but kudos to the folks doing the work on this.

Just a reminder that we are currently organizing a pair of PFRPG online campaigns to get to know each other and the setting. And a reminder that we intend to be a safe haven for all play-styles - whether you're a hardcore PvP'er, or a hardcore Raider, or a hardcore RP'er, or a pure Crafter, or a casual player whose never even considered PvP, or Raiding, or RP, The Seventh Veil is hoping to be a comfortable home for you.

If you're thinking about applying, but just haven't been nudged over the edge, please allow me to bump thee.

Here is the link to our Applications.

And a reminder that we're not just a bunch of scholars. If you've gotten the impression we're not going to be a military powerhouse, you've gotten the wrong impression.

As I've said many times, we will be Fully Engaged with all aspects of the game.

The Seventh Veil sounds like the right sort of group for my Elvin Wizard to associate with. If possible he will be focusing on knowledge and skills in portal creation and crafting of wards.

Creating portals in the Seventh Veil's holdings could be a good way to generate wealth and diseminate knowledge.

Goblin Squad Member

I would tend to agree with you Ravening...please feel free to visit us here and share your plans.

Psst! It's Elven, Elves, and Elf.

elfin and elfish too.

Goblin Squad Member

I'll be applying on your guys site shortly :) I like everything I've read in your thread. Hopefully times will work out where I can meet you guys on a better scale in one of the games soon!

No, Tolkien thoroughly corrected that multiple times. The spelling "elfin" and "elfish" was an erronious correction by the publisher. Although Tolkien took from lore and didn't technically create elves, he did establish today's interpretation of what a "fantasy" elf is. I've done a lot of reading on Sindarian, Quenya, and elven history in general. Everything I've read says that "elfin" and "elfish" are publishing errors.

Goblin Squad Member

@Obakararuir, that didn't sound right, so I looked it up...

"Elfin" was in use for at least three centuries before Tolkien was born.

It may very well be used in error in his works, but the word itself did not originate as a "publishing error".

From Dictionary.com:

Quote:

elf·in adjective

1. of or like an elf.
2. small and charmingly spritely, merry, or mischievous.

Origin:
1560–70
; alteration of Middle English elven elf, Old English elfen, ælfen nymph, equivalent to ælf elf + -en feminine suffix (cognate with German -in ); ælf cognate with German Alp nightmare, puck, Old Norse alfr elf

Hail, Seventh Veil

Some pretty impressive stuff here knowledge seekers. Mostly just stopping by to give my thanks to your Company for stopping by Pax's lil home on the forums and the warm greets.

I do want to help Nihimon clarify the Elfin argument though, iffin' I may.

There are additional acceptable translations of the Elf species, commonly utilized by their dear friends, the dwarves. They include but are not limited to:

  • Long Ear

  • Elfie

  • As well as my personal favorite, Fae Fey Fancipants.

  • Goblin Squad Member

    ... like that's a credible resource. :P

You win this round my friend.

I've even heard a Dwarf refer to us as "pointy-eared <bleep>s". Whoever said the Dwarves were incapable of meaningful literature!

Hope that the new goblin blog doesn't throw a wrench into some of your members gears. Seeing how the Veil will be true neutral any one wanting to play a Paladin, Good Monk or LG/CG characters in general will be left out to dry. Also the CE and LE but, i am less concerned about them.

    Goblin Squad Member

We have always admitted to a slight Good lean to our Neutrality. To the best of my knowledge we do not currently have any evil members (and I do not think we would really appeal to them anyways)...at worst we have some neutral members with "questionable philosophies". If Ryan's word is law...then we will probably end up NG. We will wait to explore our options. But no, no gear tossing, I think we all know we need to remain flexible at this point of the discussion.

Why do I think you had my character Slaedrial Mythallar in mind for that comment. If you did you’d be correct.

The cynic in me says people will chose an alignment that lets them play with their friends or in the group of their choice. But RP their true alignment thru dialogue and actions. They will only get an alignment change if they’re caught out by breaking their word or the law.

    Goblin Squad Member

The way I read it, the alignment restrictions are on Settlements, not on Companies.

Just wanted to point out we have 3 people from New Zealand so far...and lots from the US...and a few from all over the rest of the world.

    Goblin Squad Member

I would like to say Hello to everyone here. I have been a lurker for over a month. I think the character I plan on playing would fit in well with your guild. Dependent on how the alignments do play out.

I do like what I see with the company and probably will go and take a look at your website.

I am inviting any interested 7th Veil to the GL clan meeting tomorrow(or today). We will be discussing the implications of the latest blog and as our only official ally I would very much like to see 7th Veil represented by at least one of your founders. Feel free to bring as many as you would like though.

The meeting is at 7PM PST, Wednesday June 11th.

I feel like it's far too early for me to decide on an in-game group for an MMO that hasn't launched yet (tried that with TSW and it didn't work out so well), but The Seventh Veil definitely appeals to me. It looks to be the most in line with what I would be seeking in PFO.

Beacher is a jester. He's entangled with the worlds of theatre, comedy, performance arts in general. I have no idea how well-supported those themes will be in PFO, and do not hold particularly high hopes given that it's historically been a fairly niche interest in MMOs. However, it sounds like The Seventh Veil would be a great place to explore those themes (especially through RP).

So while I'm not ready to say "ZOMG let me join nao!" I will say "awesome work!" and keep watching like the friendly lurker I am. You've done a really impressive job with set-up so far, and I'm eager to see where things go next.

...Okay, okay. It's also possible I'm just a fan of KitNyx and Nihimon, and want to play tagalong.

    Goblin Squad Member

*laugh*...well, comedy is a totally legitimate form of often veiled communication, communication forming the foundation of how we learn from others. Personally, I think a jester would be a welcome...and interesting addition to our community.

(Forencith = KitNyx)...and you would be welcome to "tagalong"...although the way we are headed (still speculation at this point), we are looking for leaders and even whole groups as well. We are finding (with the limited information we have so far) that Ryan's goals are playing right into our plan...the only sad part of that is that he is going to force everyone into variations of the structure we had hoped would give us an edge. But, I suppose that just illustrates that Ryan is trying to do something different, in so doing, address many of the problems and concerns found in "community structures" in other games.

As such, (reiterating this is speculative at this point) we are interested in initially working toward our Settlement/Nation...but we are in no means a Chartered Company. From just members of this board we have far exceeded the allotted size of such. We are currently working on processes that will allow internal members of our settlement to form Chartered Companies and take over specific subsets of duties for the collective. As such, we will need leaders and sub-communities who want to be autonomous units given charge to lead the collective in specific areas of play (such as crafting, harvesting, PvP, etc...). Each of these autonomous subgroups (probably Chartered Companies themselves) will be able to send a representative to a "ruling council" which will decide the direction of the collective...but all will be bound by our constitution, The Caerux. The Caerux is maintained by a small group of "Stewards" who usually have no direct leadership rights themselves, but insure the Caerux is complete and flexible as needed. To allay any fears though, only great need can lead to changes in the Caerux, so law will not be arbitrary.

*laugh*...well, that ended up longer than I intended. I suppose it has become a State of the Caeruxi address. And again to reiterate, all of that is subject to change as we learn more about the game.

    Hey, are you still recruiting?

    Goblinworks Executive Founder

We are indeed still accepting members. Please apply on our guild website if you are interested.

I attempted to apply on your site. But it doesn't seem like I can get on the forums.

    Goblinworks Executive Founder

I'll send you a link; if it doesn't work, I'll try calling for back-up from the more technically adept members.

    Goblinworks Executive Founder

PM sent. We've been having issues with spammers in the past few days, and some of the new measures might have snagged you as well.

I just fixed your settings so you can post an application now.

    Goblin Squad Member

So...is there any point in trying to set up diplomatic relations with you guys? You don't exactly come across as either "pro-assassin" or "pro-Blaeringr". Even with your own assassin in company, you also have others who are planning on being "anti-assassins".

So I'm just testing the waters here...

Don't get me wrong, we'll still continue our "covert diplomatic relations" with you guys either way, but it may save us some tedious work if we can just set up channels between you guys and Tony.

    Goblin Squad Member

You're more than welcome to - and I say that sincerely.

    Goblin Squad Member

@Blaeringr, I agree with Nihimon. We are very different organizations with different needs, goals, and even requirements. As such, no matter what happens we probably will never find ourselves fighting over the same resources.

We have always said we intend to be neutral, personally I do not agree with some in the forums who feel neutral means those who don't have the...gumption...to take a side. Rather, for our story, knowledge is the primary goal, and like all tools is inherently neutral. And for Forencith personally, neutral is a blood-born, feral, First World connection and a cognitive aversion to extremes. He has taken a side and it is to maintain a balance in the world.

I am trying to shape our community to fit the game mechanics for being first a settlement and later a nation. This, I hope, will allow us a place for everyone. I expect it will be lucrative for settlement owners to rent "property/offices" to those who want to set up a place to hand out missions as well as just do commerce. I imagine we will be doing that as well. I can see how Tony's can support all sorts of businesses, masons, grinders, farmers...ummm, undertakers and florists too! We will need bread, and you will need a place to make bread.

Other than that, meta-game relations, in a sandbox, enemies are just as important as friends...can't hurt to have a guarded chat ant see if there is a way we can mutually benefit from a...relationship, friend or foe.

I think for most of us, or me anyways, we were just playing along with what seemed to be RPed malicious intent on your part...if you want to define yourself as our nemesis...okay, we can play along.

    Goblin Squad Member

I'm certainly not trying to define our relationship as one of nemesis. The murkier the better ;)

I also doubt we'll find ourselves fighting over resources, as we won't be building anything of considerable size. And any fighting over land/resources would only draw attention to things better left ignored.

Anyways, glad to have an understanding.

    Goblin Squad Member

    Blaeringr wrote:

*laughs* I can't help but ask myself if you're saying you don't want our relationship defined as nemesis, or if you don't want it defined as nemesis :)

I'm "pro-Blaeringr" and "Pro-Tony's Metagame". Glad to see someone is already working on that side of the game. Though some don't seem to appreciate my enthusiasm. >_>

Filled out an app on the website. :-)

Just a reminder that we are still kicking. We're content to let things proceed fairly slowly during this early stage of development, but as Launch time gets closer expect us to begin making the case for why we think The Seventh Veil is the right place for you.

    Goblin Squad Member

I just wanted to take a moment to inform the community that I have officially stepped down from my position at The Seventh Veil to assist The Kingdom of Aeternum (Pax Gaming) in Pathfinder Online.

I will remain an active member of the Pathfinder Online prerelease community and if anyone wishes to reach me, feel free to contact me here or at the Pax Gaming Community website (KitNyx).

I wish The Seventh Veil and its members well in their future endeavours, and I look forward to seeing all of you in game.

    ~ Forencith/ KitNyx

    Silver Crusade Goblin Squad Member

hmm as an ally of the veil I was concerned to as why your leaving to join another company Forencith? Is there issues with the veil itself or just personal whimsy?

    Goblin Squad Member

I just wanted to stop by and mention that Aeternum is not engaging in any sniping of Seventh Veil leadership. While we are glad to have Forencith, it is his personal choice to make this move.

Seventh Veil is a company filled with good people, a few of which I hold great respect for. I have nothing but the highest hopes for this organization in the future, and so does Pax.

    Silver Crusade Goblin Squad Member

I would never accuse you of that Dak. We are all adults here lol. Each with our own free will, responsibilities, and desires. At least I would hope so. I was just wondering why it occurred.

    Goblin Squad Member

@JakBlitz. Neither, it was a very difficult decision to make and I left on good terms with the other TSV leadership. As I said, I hope all the best for them and I expect that one day I will be looking on with pride as they dominate PFO...and I will know I helped lay the foundation for the guild.
