Oracle Armor Revelations

Rules Questions

I was wondering about this earlier. There are revelations that grant an armor bonus, this bonus caps at 12 at the higher levels. Do you add in Dexterity bonus to this as well?

If someone where to use one of the Armor Revelations and either had a high dexterity or used a Ring of Revelations (Sidestep Secret) + UMD, would they get a very high AC bonus from this combination?

Yes Dex bonuses add to armour class. Can you link to the revelations you are interested in - there are 24 references to armour in the UM PRD section alone.

If the armor bonus granted from the revelations are indeed [ARMOR] bonuses then they stack with dexterity, deflection, shield, natural armor, luck, and morale.

They would NOT stack with [ARMOR] such as that gained by leather armor, hide armor, chainmail, etc.... Hope this helps.

Also Here ya go:Bonus Stacking Explained

*EDIT* There are way more bonus types than I knew...

Thanks for the responses.

So this is a way to get Armor Bonus without the Dex Limit, I assume as long as we arent wearing armor that imposes a limit. In some ways this seems like it may grant a bit too much AC but cheers, more AC via a few items (Focus on CHA, get Sidestep Secret via ring, and use the Revelation ability).

Examples of the Revelations

Spirit Shield
Cloak of Darkness
Wood Armor
Bone Armor

They state that they add an Armor Bonus. My focus was whether or not there is a limit to the dex bonus. If I am just wearing normal clothing, could I use this Revelation and then get an unlimited Dex/Cha bonus (Sidestep Revelation).

Maxed out, this seems like it could create a ridiculously high AC.

There are many ways to bypass a high AC, so it's not as big a problem as it may appear to be.

I imagine it works like the spell Mage Armour, its a magically created armour that has no penalty or maximum dex bonus.

Unlike mundane armor, mage armor entails no armor check penalty, arcane spell failure chance, or speed reduction.

None of that will work because in order to use the ring, you have to have the appropriate mystery for the revelation in the ring. In order to get "cloak of darkness" you have to have to "Dark Tapestry" mystery. If you have the "Dark Tapestry" mystery then you can only use the "ring of revelations" with Dark Tapestry revelations.

"Sidestep Secret" comes from the "Lore" mystery. Lore doesn't offer any armor type revelations.
