It seems that I'll need to repost my email address. I didn't think that would be necessary, but never mind.

Spoiler:
arakhor@gmail.com

Arakhor, yours was already on the list, IIRC. Did you check your spam filter?
Also -- and I hate to have to say it -- please dial back the entitlement. This isn't a paid service, remember?

The last email I have from you is in October and there's nothing relevant in my spam box. (I wasn't trying to sound entitled, so please excuse me if I did.)

I'll make sure you're in the last mailing ca. May 31.

Thank you.

We've already got an office in Houston. The problem is that if we move back, Mrs Gersen loses her cushy work-out-of-the-house gig and goeas back to an epic-length commute.

Dude, I'll get my limo friend to drive her to work every day if it means getting my freaking DM back!!!

Liberty's Edge

Also, after raising a nephew, and now a daughter and a step daughter, I am well qualified to provide child care service. ;-)

Why, after that last post, do I suddenly picture you smuggling across the border a different cargo, in the opposite direction? ;)

Mrs Gersen: "Wait! What did HD do with our larva?!"
Me: "I haven't the least idea in the world, I assure you. But we're suddenly $200,000 richer. Let's call it a win and move on!"
Mrs Gersen: (kills me).

Let's see here... I get decent roads, restaurants, cheap and available liquor, warmer weather, and a top-notch set of players back. Mrs Gersen gets a chauffer.

I'm not really seeing a down side here, which makes me think I must be missing something.

Pfft. We're putting Arwen in karate classes. I'm all about the raising of bad asses ;-)

Kirth (and everyone who put effort into making this project possible): thank you. This is the most enormous, complete collection of houserules I've ever seen, and it is a beautiful thing to behold.

Dark Archive

Hi, Kirth. Could I please get the final rules? My address is i.jovanovich@gmail.com

btw i gotta say, thank you for the bloodline disciple sutra. although its doesn't seem to be on the list of all the sutras.

edit:also under domain disciple, when it says mysticism do you mean the mystic domain? if so can you clarify how the first level power works.

I would very much appreciate a copy of the final document, having read what's on the site, and very interested in seeing how it ended up.

Thanks, Jonas

If I might, a question for the people who've perused the final.
Literary quotes: Useful? Annoying? Interesting? Ignored? Waste of space?

If they're the same as in the October edition, I was mildly interested to read them a couple of times and then ignored them the rest of the time.

There are more of them, is all -- one for each class, one for each core race, plus a few for skills and assorted other stuff.

Liberty's Edge

I like the quotes.

I liked the literary quotes. I'm in favour of anything that brings life or flavour.

I also like that the "high CHA, low WIS" pretty much described how I played Cadogan to a tee.

I am looking forward to my copy. Thanks kirth for all your work

As to gaming with kids. My wife encouraged me to take the baby out of the house even if that meant taking her to a game. Babies are a lot of work and you will be tired but you can still game. It gets easier as they get older and then you hit that magical age when they game with you.

I'm getting a late start with them -- by the time they're old enough, I'll be too old!

Glad at least a couple of people liked the quotes; it was a pain in the neck looking for appropriate ones, and sometimes they're a stretch. I'm also miffed I didn't have time to find a better wood elf quote -- I originally wanted something about the Iroquois, just left out of context.

I think it was Robert Asprin who said (of the MYTH novels), "The hardest part of writing, for me, are the quotes at the start of each chapter. After that, the rest is easy."

If you can still think and speak (or type if your avenue of choice is online text-based games, either PbP or chatroom style), you can still game no matter how grey/hairless you get.

Liberty's Edge

If I can't sample whatever hoppy IPA the DM is offering that day, I just don't want to game.

Hipster. You probably like PBR, too!

Please. My cheap beer is Lone Star.

My expensive beer is any of the Ommagang offerings, as they're born in the town of my birth.

And, you're dead and I'm not a priest, so neener neener I can't hear you!

Ommegang is my favorite brewery in North America.
(up there with Samuel Smith's in the UK, Ayinger in Germany, Chimay in Belgium)

Ommegang is the importer for Duvel and the "Delerium" Belgians as well. And you should love them, you're from Upstate too ;-)

Kirth haven't gotten my final copy yet, however i can say from the last version I loved the quotes and they helped one of my new player in his long fighter/barbarian debate over what class to play.

Wait is there gaming without beer if all are of age?

Mathius wrote:

Yes.

In fact, I generally prefer to game without alcohol present. Not because people can't drink responsibly, but because I have infinitely more experience with people drinking irresponsibly to the point I'm shifted slightly out of my comfort zone being in the same room as people drinking.

I don't drink alcohol ever, so yeah.

I was joking but I do enjoy a beer with my game. No issue with those who don't and drunk gaming is bad.

Shadow Lodge

Man, tell me about it... *sighs* Kids these days.

I'd like to be added to the distro if possible, please.

When I'm hosting and DMing, I like a beer or two while gaming (or, with the right group if all are doing the same, a beer or five or six!) But at someone else's house I follow their rules -- that's just basic etiquette.

I applaud TOZ and other teetotallers who are OK with some people having a beer and others not and don't get all freaked out one way or the other.

I would love to read through the new rules if you could send me a copy also. Thanks so much for putting all the work into this.

I, too, enjoyed the literary quotes a lot. Helps put the class/race/whathaveyou in better perspective.

Anyone have an online editable character sheet I can nom on?

EDIT:

I see reference to a feat called Magical Talent but am unable to locate it. I believe it was meant to follow the racial spell-like ability chart?

EDIT#2: Im a dork. The search function was bugging out on me.

christos gurd wrote:

you might have missed this the first time since i slipped it in with an edit, am i right in assuming you mean mystic? If so, if i pick it and select option. A(which is weak arcane spellcasting synergy) and select the enlightened fist sutra, would they stack into strong synergy?

So I had a bit of free time and lacking a nice editable online character sheet, I decided to make my own.

It's a bit rough around the edges and doesn't have any scripts to auto update other scores but it suits my needs well enough.

Link

Feel free to copy and improve it.

Thanks for all your hard work mr kirthfinder, if you have a moment I would love a copy. Mine is old and sadly I would love a Copy of it.

The new Intro has a long section, with examples, spelling out when synergy features (including theurgy) stack and when they don't.

In general, it has to say "this stacks with X from Y," or it doesn't.

Check under Arcane feats: "Talent, Magical." It gives you one SLA, so it does not follow the racial SLA progression: one feat does not give you a whole suite of abilities.

Is it just me, or does Iron Gods look like the adventure path I should be converting to Kirthfinder when it comes out....

ALL THE YES

If so, then you absolutely must read Roger Zelazny's Changeling as an accompaniment.

From Wikipedia: "Mark is ostracised by the people around him and wanders in the hills until he finds a graveyard of machines, left from the ancient war between magic and technology. Able to restart them, he returns in triumph on a flying machine to claim his childhood sweetheart in the village, only to be assaulted by the villagers, losing an eye. Fleeing back to the graveyard he creates an army of machines to take revenge..."

Got that book on my shelf.

Thought it was just some pulp from my dads collection but it actually had some nice ideas.
