Recruitment: Homebrew Pathfinder Rules in a new world with a new twist. PBP

Gamer Connection

1 to 50 of 88 << first < prev | 1 | 2 | next > last >>

Introduction
Okay this is the recruitment for something very different than you’re used to from Pathfinder. To save time and to add to the atmosphere of the campaign, it is not going to take place in Golorion and it helps if you know nothing of the world.

This campaign will be using modified Gesalt rules which will be explained in further detail in the ooc thread and during the campaign. This campaign is called Sorcerers. In this campaign you will be playing as high school students from the modern world who get sucked into a new world to save it. Similar to the Chronicles of Narnia books only not as child friendly.

I will only mention a couple of things about the world. It is similar to Golorion as it has most of the races you can find in the core rulebook and bestiaries but there are only two deities in the land. I will explain how clerics and such work to those who make it in but for now it is time to find players.

Application
For this campaign, I am strictly looking for four players who can go the long haul. Replacing players in this particular campaign will be very difficult. If I need a replacement, it is going to have to be a player taking over an existing character. I have a way to introduce a new character if absolutely needed but I’d rather have dedicated fellow. I at least need people who can post once a day.

Rules for Applying
This campaign will use the Gesalt rules but you will be starting as a high school student. These are the following Criteria:

1. Race:Your race is human
2. ClassYour starting class is the is the NPC class “Expert” found on page 450 in the core rulebook. Modify as you wish. You can use Warrior or Aristocrat if you have a back story that fits but I will be judging those extra harshly. Your gesalt class is later.
3. Ability Scores:15 point buy
4. Equipment: No gear, weapons, or starting wealth.
5. Books:Material used in the game will be all Paizo published books but for now the core rulebook is all you need
6. Age:Your age must be between 15 and 19 as you are a typical high school student
7. Feats: You will save your feat selections for later. I know you get two but just hang on to them for now
8. Traits: You will get two traits but they must fit into your character and the modern world. Explain them in your backstory.
9. BackStory Keep this brief, it only needs to explain your skills traits and class choice if applicable.
10. Interests: Explain your character’s hobbies and interests and any school or after school activities they may enjoy. What they like to do and what they would someday like to do.
11. Motivation: You will need to be motivated to want to visit a different world. What reason do you have for accepting an offer to visit a strange new land and possibly be gone from home for a short while
12. Personality: Explain your personality.
13. Element: The most important. I need you to list your first and second favorite elements. Fire, Earth, Air, and Water.

Final Application Roleplay
Okay, I don’t normally like this method for choosing players but this campaign really needs me to observe play styles before hand. I will use this to shape the four players I need for this campaign and choose. I will have this recruitment open from a week too two if needed. I will select ones I have refined the characters I need. Roleplay itself will start when I announce it. That’ll be when I get enough apps

Okay now start asking questions and posting your apps.

Ok!I am definitely interested in this concept Shanosuke. It reminds me of one of my top...um, 20 fantasy series, The Guardians of the Flame, by Joel Rosenburg (Who, I very unfortunately just found out, passed away this past June. RIP Joel, and thanks so much for all the great reads!) This site Here has some good stuff to say about the series. ,

For now I'm dotting my interest. A concept is percolating and I will post my application later today. Good luck to all!

Aiden Frost's best friend is the high school librarian. That is to say, Aiden really has no friends.

Anyone who knows him can describe Aiden's life in two words: Books and Bruises.

Its Aiden's senior year and, like most high school students, he can't wait to be done with this place. Its his reason for wanting out that makes him different however. Aiden has a bullying problem. No, he's not a bully. He has a problem because he cannot help but bait the bullys. He rutinely plans traps for them, uses himself as bait, and then laughs as they get suspended.

This life doesn't come without consequences though, sometimes his antics fail and then he either talks his way out or he really catches a beating. The latter happens less and less these days as he has managed to get pretty good at dodging the slow blows of the muscle-bound meatheads.

The therapist tell Aiden's mom that he acts out because he misses his life in Ireland. Aiden says he acts this way because these bullies skirt the rules and they deserve punishment.

His interests include reading, L.A.R.P.ing, reading, and tricking the mean kids into attacking him in front of administrators.

Aiden is also a day dreamer. He spends time fantasizing about life in medieval Ireland or maybe on the Voyager. He often feels that he was born in the wrong time period. Someday, he hopes to be a living history actor and weapons historian.

Traits= Fast Talker: +1 to bluff and its a class skill and Deft Dodger: +1 to reflex saves

Personality= Aiden is introverted, but only as a defense mechanism. With people he trusts, Aiden is very loquatious. He is a kind hearted person but he hates it when people get away with rule-breaking. He believes that reward and punishment should be equitable to the deed that earned them. He is somewhat snarky and has a bit of a devious streak in him.

Element= Aiden loves Fire and Electicity (Air)

Best of luck to everyone!

I should mention for back story sake that you all live in the town of Springfield and go to Pathfinder center high. Corny I know

I've got stats set, but won't set up a profile yet.

Terry Allen is...let's call him indiscriminately curious. He can't see a door without wondering what's on the other side. A lock is a personal affront. Even as a baby, he would climb out of his crib at night and wander the house. His parents soon became used to finding him asleep in some odd spot when they got up in the morning. As he grew older he continued to be hard to confine. His parents tolerated his antics perhaps more than they should have--particularly as he was careful not to damage anything, and his excuses were invariably entertaining. The challenge of keeping him from places he shouldn't be, though, was complicated drastically when his family would go on trips, which they did with some regularity. Terry was responsible for getting his family asked to leave any number of European cathedrals and castles, the Smithsonian Institution, and a lot of other tourist attractions. (No one was ever quite clear on how a six-year-old managed to get past the Secret Service in the White House, even before 9/11, but President Bush was amused enough to write an official pardon for him.)

It only got worse when he learned to read. Books on lockpicking, computer security, cryptography, pickpocketing...all manner of clever ways to get to the other side of that door. Throughout grade school and middle school, he continued to improve his skills. Oh, sometimes his parents would try to distract him with something else, like gymnastics. He spent quite a lot of time on that, too, and it wasn't until he was found on the roof of his school (having free-climbed up) that they realized their mistake.

Now at the start of his junior year, Terry is doing fairly well in school. He has a few like-minded friends, but he's the best of them at physical methods for getting where people don't want him to be. He still practices lockpicking and other such things as a hobby. Eventually he'd like to be a security consultant of some sort; the prospect of being paid to break into a place appeals to him.

As to why he'd visit a new world, it's just one more door...and the other side of the door is always fascinating.

Favorite elements: 1) Air and 2) Water. (They're also hard to keep out, after all.)

Traits: Fast Talker (+1 to Bluff checks) and World Traveler (+1 to Diplomacy checks)

Shanosuke:

I just re-read my post and Aiden sounds a bit stodgier than I intended. He is true neutral because he wants balance, but more because he doesn't really have a strong moral code. He is interested in fairness but not in law vs chaos or good vs evil. He leans toward law and good however because he is a kind person and because he lives in a lawful society. I hope that helps to clear him up a bit. Also, I really hope that my being in one of your other games won't hurt my chances as I love your GM style and this story sounds like SO MUCH fun.

Sounds interesting, so I will present Sara Robinson. A rather shy young 17 year old who spends most of her time reading fantasy novels and daydreaming of traveling to an exotic location where she will be swept off her feet by a handsome stranger who is really a prince. (Too many disney movies have ruined her sense of reality.)

I'll write up more about her when I have time tomorrow.

Favorite elements: 1-Earth, 2-Water

Day one and already 5 interests. How awesome

I'm gonna throw my hat in here.

Reginald Bullock has had it rough in school. Being not only a redhead, but also slightly obese, he's been the butt of everyone's jokes since elementary. These jokes make him really mad, and he gets in trouble at school a lot for punching kids who say something mean to him. This has caused him to try and bottle up his anger when the teasing starts, which of course only leads to him punching more kids when he can't stand it any more. Reginald is 16, but he's still in his freshman year (he was expelled from his other high school after beating a kid up).

Reginald hates going to school, and has avoided all school-related activities that he can. In his free time, he watches TV and plays MMOG's. His parents try to get him to join a sports team or join a club, but he flatly refuses, and throws a tantrum when they try to force him. In his online games, Reggy likes to play as an aggressive warrior who can tear through all of his opponents. He dreams of being a race car driver, and often watches races on TV.

Reginald wants to go to another world because to him, anything is better than being constantly picked on at school.

To those people who sit with him at the lunch table (also known as the other losers), Reginald can be a pretty cool guy. He cracks funny jokes, and never makes fun of someone else's ideas. However, most times he's simply quiet, either because his mind is wandering off to his video game worlds, or because he's trying to keep himself from hurting someone. To those he doesn't associate with, Reggy is just a weird kid, and to a few he's even a bully (because they fail to understand that he doesn't like them making fun of him).

Elements: Fire and earth. Fire is like his aggressive warriors, destroying what stands in its way, while earth is able to crush its enemies without suffering from their attacks.

So yeah, he's a very angry child. :P Haven't done stats yet.

Here's my alias for my character submission. I'm still working on getting all her info on it though. And I was wondering, do we get to pick our class later on, or will you be assigning us one?

Ok, have had Two concepts banging around in my noggin and haven't been able to decide, so here they both are:

First we have Ashley Aaronson:

Ashley, with her dark grey eyes, long black hair and alabaster skin, is a beautiful young woman. And someone who, to all intents and purposes, seems to live a charmed life. Everything was always easy for her, everything always seemed to go her way and she always seemed to have someone to carry her books, or pick up after her. However there is another side to Ashley no one knows. For she is also a young woman who has felt trapped for most of her life. Trapped by her looks, by her popularity, and by all the expectations everyone always seems to have of her. They expect her to be the most popular girl and be the pettiest and wear the best clothes. They expect her to have the most friends, be the captain of the cheerleading squad and date the football star. But not once, not one single time had anyone ever asked Ashley what she wanted. For as long as she could remember Ashley had felt like she lived her life at the whim of others. And she couldn't stand it anymore!

She knew that everyone who saw her thought she had the perfect life but if only they knew. If only they knew that most of the time she felt like screaming. When everyone was all around her, telling her how wonderful she was, all she wanted to do was fly away. Fly far far away, to the stars and beyond, to a place where nobody knew her and nobody expected anything of her. Somewhere she could just be free. Free to make her own choices, free to be her own person, free to be who she really was. Sometimes the feeling to just be free built up so strongly in her she felt she was going to burst.

On the very rare times she did get to be alone by herself, usually at night, Ashley would gaze out her window at the stars, dreaming of a different world. She often dreamed of being in a world where she could make her mark with more than just her beauty. A world where everything wasn't so damned safe and planned out for her. Sometimes, very rarely but more often lately, when her mind was drifting deep in the void of space, the tormented young girl could swear that she felt..something...calling to her from far far away. In turn she would then feel an answer stirring deep inside of her in reply. She would begin to reach out to it but always, before she could touch it, one of her 'friends' would call to spread the latest gossip or her mom would burst in her room, all excited for Ashley to try on the new outfit she had just bought for her and her connection with the stars would unravel, slipping through her grasping fingers like the fading mist of her dreams for a different life.

Ashley knew that something had to change in her life, something big, but she had no idea what or how that could be. All she did know was, it had better happen soon.

Traits= Charming: +1 Diplomacy on a character that is (or could be) sexually attracted to you, and a +1 trait bonus to the save DC of any language-dependent spell you cast on such characters or creatures

WORLD TRAVELER: +1 Sense Motive and it is always a class skill.

Personality= To all Ashley appears to be a friendly, charming and gregarious young lady. But she also has an angst inside that no one knows about which drives her seek out a new life for herself. She is strong willed but naturally seeks to please those around her. She is generally fearless but her greatest fear is not being liked.

Element= Ashley feels very drawn to FIRE. Sometimes she imagines the person she is now burning up in a blazing star and a new version of herself emerging. She also feels drawn to the beauty and mutability of WATER, for water can be all things to all people, just like she can.

Next is is Kyle Marsten:

(To be completed. Rough Outline:

Kyle comes from a mixed parentage, so has always felt himself a bit of an outcast because of this, never quite fitting in. On top of this, he's is a country boy who has been forced to move to the city, a city which he hates. He spends almost all of his time outdoors, trying to find anywhere he can connect with the nature, where he feels much more comfortable than around people. At school he excels in the physical arts but finds himself distracted during subjects he feels don't apply to him. He does to quite well in biology and anything to do with animals though. Although he is mostly a loner, he will always intervene when a bully is picking on someone smaller. This doesn't earn Kyle many friends either. Not from the bully's nor from those being picked on, as they know they'll just get a worse beating later.

Traits= To come

Personality= To come

Element= Earth and Water

*Will be finished later today

*Shanosuke: I feel attracted to both characters and would be happy to play either of them in your game, depending on which you prefer, or whichever one would best aid the party. Really looking forward this game. Am crossing my fingers I get in! ; )

@Sara as far as classes are concerned. You start with Expert. This game is going to follow gesalt rules where you will have two classes at the same character level. One of these two classes will be assigned. It is Sorcerer and the bloodline will be that of your element. The second half of your character is whatever class you choose to grow in. I will explain in greater detail once the team is assembled.

@Khalodon. So far I like Ashely. Mostly because she's more developed than Kyle but also because she is the kind of character I like to see in this kind of situation. Hehe she will get one heck of a wake up call that is for sure. Careful what you wish for you just might get it. If you are still considering Kyle I would like to see the finished product. Ultimately you decide which of the two you want.

Do we have permission then to change our stat assignments? I was under the impression that expert would be one of our gestalt classes.

As I read it, we start out as Exp1/x (where x was a placeholder for what was hinted to be elemental bloodline sorcerer, at least based on the campaign name and the final question). I tried not to metagame, though, so Terry Allen's intended starting stats are 12-14-12-14-12-12; pretty good for a 16-yr-old.

John woodford hit the nail on the head. You do not have to keep putting levels into expert, that's just your first level class is all. Keep a class in mind when developing your character. I'm only using partial gesalt rules. I had to modify it a bit to fit the campaign. All will be made clear once we get going.

Got it 8)

Thanks.

Any other applicants. I welcome returning players from my other games to apply also.

Sovereign Court RPG Superstar 2010 Top 16, 2011 Top 32

John "Moose" Cooper is dumb.

At least that's what he's always been told. Ever since he was little and twice the size of the other kids, running into corners and accidentally knocking over the other kids when playing. Being bigger and stronger than the others is supposed to be a good thing, but for Moose, it's always been his curse. He just wants to fit it, but when you're 6'6" and 300 pounds of solid muscle at age 17? You don't fit in at all. Couple that with a mom who ran out on his father and him when he was 11, a father who drinks too much and gets angry at his dead-end job and deadbeat ex-wife and dumb@$$ son and a trailer that is more holes than walls, and you got the makings of a juvenile delinquent.

Thing is, Moose always had football. On the field, he's alive. On the field, people cheer for him instead of cringing from him. On the field, he can contribute and allow his mind to soar. Finding the exact spot to slip through the opposing defense requires geometry and algebra and spatial awareness. It's where his joy lies and it's the only place where he can feel like anything other than 'that big dumb jock.' Off the field, Moose is quiet and withdrawn. Teachers think he's possibly retarded, coaches just see the potential for a state victory this year and friends never seem to get through his aura of stolidness. Plus, it's not like high school is made for breaking out of molds, is it?

Moose loves math, but he's careful to keep his grades solidly B-. If they were higher, teachers would immediately expect he was cheating and look deeper than Moose wants into his life. He loves football, every aspect and he's a decent quarterback as well as a wall of stone as center. In what spare time he gets he reads fantasy novels, though he's careful to never let anyone else see them.

As for elements, Moose is Earth and Air, nearly equally. As for motivation to visit a fantasy world? A chance to go to a place where he's not Big Dumb Moose, but can define himself for the first time in his life? Who wouldn't take that chance?

Quick note, I will be allowing UC for this game also but not the playtest.

I will be accepting applications until either Wednesday evening or Thursday evening. Once the recruitment is closed, I will start the roleplay session with you all. You wont have to make aliases just yet unless you want to. The roleplay will last until either Sunday or Monday evening. If you don't participate in the roleplay, your odds of getting into the game will lessens. If there is going to be a problem with the times I have selected, please pipe in and let me know. I will pick the final four on Monday for sure.

Any Qustions?

Shanosuke:

Just saw this, and it looks great.

Ability scores:
14,18,10,8,10,12 (+2 from human was put into dex)

Traits:
Reactionary, Explorer (This is a gnome trait, but it's the most relevant one. If you'd like me to change, I can)

Backstory:

Jen was a small girl, even compared the other girls at her age, 15. She was not extraordinary in any way that the other kids would recognize; her people skills were not particularly well-practiced and her appearance was not particularly stunning. What she lacked in social appeal was definitely not compensated by her schoolwork; it was only tremendous effort and the support of her parents that she managed to keep her head above the water.

Naturally, she spent her time away from other people, in the outdoors. This was one area that she definitely excelled in, able to find her way through convulated thickets and forests with relative ease. It was her time in the outdoors that forced her to become more agile and fit. Her senses sharpened when listening for danger of common forest animals and her muscles toughened up when taking long incursions into the brush, sometimes missing a few classes. These skills came in handy during school as well, allowing her to pick her way through the hordes of people crashing through the hallway every change in classes.

Interests:

Exploring the great outdoors (Probably going to end up as a ranger), both present and future

Motivation:

Exploring the enviroment around the school is interesting for her, but after a few months, it has become rather familliar. She feels like going to the new frontier, another world.

Personality:

She is rather shy and used to people not noticing her. Generally passive, her method of reacting to confrontation is simply to stop speaking and sneaking away to observe at a distance, if possible. However, when she gets within range of animals, her shyness and lack of friendliness turns to joy, and she handles them very well.

Elements:
Earth
Water

I'm going to be on the road from Thursday to Monday morning, and my internet access is going to be extremely questionable (as in, I'll be in Upper Michigan most of that time, so all I'll usually have is my phone; the last time I was up there my 3G service was spotty). Given that, unless there are a lot of other people who are going to have trouble with the RP session as scheduled I'll bow out. Good luck, everyone!

I like Ashley too, and think she would be quite fun to RP in a game like this. The only problem though is I too had misunderstood that we would be expert in one level and I had been grooming her to be a Sorcerer (starlight) in her other. But if you are going to be giving everyone an elemental(?) sorcerer class, I may have to rethink things.

In the meantime I'll finish up Kyle. Been a busy last few days but should have something by sometime tomorrow.

Well that sucks. Hmm. I don't want the few applicants I've got dropping on me. Maybe there is someway to work this out. How often are you normally able to post? Also, I going to review some of the games you are already in to get an idea what your roleplaying skills are like. Does that work for you or do you really need to step out of this one?

Sorry about the strange class selection rules but I spent a good deal time working on this campaign and I liked this route. It makes for a very unusual play style.

That'd work for me. Normally I'm able to post a few times a day, at least. I've put links to my active/nominally active characters behind a spoiler tag for your convenience.

Spoiler:
Retsiji, L1 Galtian human diviner, in Kingmaker
(NB: This one doesn't look that active, because the DM disappeared a while ago and I took over running; at some point I'll get another player in to replace him, but we haven't hit a decent break point. You can also see how I do with RP while reffing.)
Dragolan Canario, L1 Chelaxian human oracle of life, in Serpent's Skull
Norhalo, L3 Varisian human stormborn sorcerer, in RotRL
James "Madman Jim" Patterson, L2 Taldan human free-hand fighter, in Freeport/Golarion homebrew

No no, don't get me wrong, wasn't complaining, just letting you know what was up. I can always rework her stats to have her suit something else if she ends up being who i go with

I'm starting to like Ashley. The more I think her in the story, the more amused I get at picturing this poor princess trying to live a different way. Makes me chuckle for sure.

I'm going to go over my apps a bit tomorrow and will likely ask questions or get a feel for them a bit.

The Exchange

Well, that's unfortunate. This looks like a lot of fun. I've got a heck of a lot on my plate right now, and I've got some-400 posts to go through on my other pbps. I'll be posting in Mormont's soon, Shano, so you can expact Eltumal to be under his own willpower now.

The recruitment isn't closed yet. Im just looking over some of the apps that I have. By all means folks, keep putting forth more applications

Ha, all right, Ashley it is then! ; )

But the girl may just surprise you with more inner strength than one might expect. (not that there won't be a major meltdown or two over a broken nail and no hairdryer of course ; )

Now to just figure what class other than sorcerer she might be suitable for...

Divine classes will be available but there are some special rules regarding deity selection which I will explain in the discussion thread.

Shanosuke:

I switched Aiden's strength and charisma scores. I was originally thinking I'd go magus, but now that I have a btter idea of how you plan to run the gestalts. I think i'll add rogue to the sorcerer abilities. It'll fit Aiden's personality better too imo. I can't wait till you get this one started. Even if i don't get in I'll be reading.

The sorcerer + other class makes my character a bit spread out, so maybe we could get to substitute one of the Bloodline arcanas that change the casting stat of the sorcerer? :)

And having the charisma to actually cast sorcerer spells undermines the "avoids people" thing.

RPG Superstar 2009 Top 16

Have to say I'm kind of intrigued. What would you think of a teenaged blackbelt. Eventually gestalting Sorceror/Monk (Earth or Water) possibly starting off Warrior.

If it sounds good I'll flesh it out.

Finally caught a recruitment that hasn't already started a game, lost a person, and is re-recruiting that sounds interesting enough for me to put time into it! Granted the whole high school thing is a little cliche, but I'm sure you'll more than make up for it with the story after they get called into the other world.

I'll work on creating a character that hasn't already been touched on. I have seen a lot of the same traits so far, lol. Anyway, I should have a full idea ready to post within a few hours.

Right now debating between Summoner (her favourite stuffed animal since childhood, Ralphie, become real when she summons him. Cool, except Ralphie is a large, purple furred bear like creature. Oh, and he has big pink polka dots, and tiny little dragon wings)

Oracle (If I took the Heaven mystery I would harldy have to change her background, if at all. Plus always good RP opps in playing with the Curses ;)

Finally considering Time Thief, (just cuz I think it would be awesome to combine with a sorcerer : )

What I finally decide may depend on what the rest of the gangs picks and what we need. If that's not ok with you though Dm S just lemme know and I'll pick one.

But anyway, here she is!

Traits/Element:

Fencer - You trained with blades for long hours as a youth, either taking lessons in the genteel art of fencing from tutors paid for by your parents or by being taken under the wing of a disenfranchised fencer who may have turned to a life of crime. You gain a +1 trait bonus on attacks of opportunity made with daggers, swords, and similar bladed weapons.
justification – In order to develop a more “well-rounded” child, Floyd's parents felt that it was necessary that he participate in a martial art of some sort. They asked him what he would like to learn and his unexpected answer was fencing. So he spent the next 8 winters of his life learning the art of fencing.
Focused Mind - Your childhood was either dominated by lessons of some sort (whether musical, academic, or other) or by a horrible home life that encouraged your ability to block out distractions and focus on the immediate task at hand. You gain a +2 trait bonus on concentration checks.
justification – An intricate combination of a gifted mind with a somewhat strict upbringing in terms of school and extra-curricular activities gave Floyd a sort of mental “tunnel vision” mechanism. He can shut out various aspects of life to focus on a specific thing such as a teacher's lecture, his part in a scene of a play, or a match. Of course he needs the right motivation to bother spending the energy to focus.

Elements - Primary: Water (Cold)
Secondary: Air (Electricity)

Description:
Floyd Prince Tanner is slightly above average when it comes to his height at 6' 1” and slightly below average for his weight at 182 lbs. His skin has a healthy tan from spending the summers at the local swimming pools and his straight, ear-length hair is brown with natural light brown highlights. He has a slender athletic build from his various physical activities and a mind that is incredibly sharp when he wants it to be. Overall he is a fairly attractive young man of 18.

He is very personable, honest, and well liked by most of his peers. It is rare to be able to put Floyd in a situation that leaves him completely at a loss for words but at the same time he knows what words are too important to say lightly. Being naturally easy going and incredibly lazy, he hasn't had much experience with the dating scene despite being raised to be respectful and courteous. In a high school standard he would rank as a very eligible bachelor with above average traits all around.

Something is missing in Floyd's life. Some greater sense of purpose or meaning that he is always writing about in his free time. He wants out of this seemingly endless cycle of life to find himself, whatever that may be. One day something will just click for him and all of that untapped potential will come bursting forth for everyone to see.

RP Introduction:

“Floyd Prince Tanner! Get in here, son!” his father called out angrily from the living room. The middle name was evoked, meaning that he had to go see what was so urgent, even if he did hate that name. His father and his mother were sitting on the couch staring at his report card on the coffee table. “Why do you insist on bringing home C's? We all know you can do so much better. We see it every time you perform, every time you are having fun, every time you put your mind to anything.”

Floyd just stood there quietly not responding to his father. He didn't really know what to say. Even if this was a conversation that had happened a few times before, the proper answer to that question was still beyond his abilities to find. There was something about school, about authority, about that life that he was expected to lead that rubbed him the wrong way. It took too much effort to excel and at the same time too much effort to fail.

Lol after looking over all these apps, I'm suddenly reminded of high school again. I pretty much am enjoying the concepts I have so far. I will close recruitment Wednesday afternoon for sure. I already have a nice load of people and I really don't think I need to drag this out too long. Tough choices all around.

I did like the idea that some of you have had about explaining your element choices. If the rest of you who haven't done so could also explain why you choose the element you did, I would appreciate it.

This is going to be tough. I wrote this story 7 years ago and have altered rewritten, and revised it over and over again. Now am looking forward to running people in it. This will be fun.

Aiden's father is an electrician and the fe occasions he's been allowed to help out on a job site have been extremely formative. Aiden is not close with his father because he works so much, but Aiden figures that if he shows enough interest, and gets good enough, he might get an apprenticeship from his father so as to spend more time with him.

Aiden has never quite been able to explain his affinity for fire. He just loves the way it moves and the grace with which it renders everything to ashes. The best explaination he's come up with is that his name means fiery in gaelic and he longs to be back in Ireland among things he knows.

Earth is for his physical form, his solidity. Air is for his mental acuity and the dreams he keeps hidden. As for motivation to visit a fantasy world? A chance to go to a place where he's not Big Dumb Moose, but can define himself for the first time in his life? Who wouldn't take that chance?

Elemental Justification:

Water: There is a kind of cool serenity and depth to Floyd. He is normally calm and naturally goes with the path of least resistance, but he can just as easily become a near unstoppable force whenever he has some motivation driving him. He doesn't quite realize his potential in this aspect since it shows itself in small pieces when he is focused.
Air: Underneath his calm surface lies an anxious energy that isn't satisfied with the status quo. It constantly tugs at Floyd to search for something different. It is the source of his unexpected approaches to life and a source of quiet self-doubt about his future.

RP:

The argument ended the same as the previous ones. Floyd's parents questioned him, genuinely disappointed and sincerely trying to find out what can be done or needs to change, and Floyd gave little to no response that had any significance.

"Grounded... again," he said to himself quietly, staring at the ceiling. His bed felt strangely uncomfortable as he was lying on it motionless and wide awake. Tomorrow would be another day as a senior in Pathfinder Center High. Another day on the same track of life.

He had already been accepted into three colleges - no big name ones of course - and had zero desire to really continue with high school let alone deal with institutes of higher education. His only motivation for even bothering with college was for there to be something new in his life. New was a word that didn't come up often enough for Floyd.

OoC:
As bad as this might sound, hopefully no other applications are put forward because I would really like a chance to play in this one and the DM already has so many good ones to choose between. XD

Liberty's Edge

Hey hoping theres still time to submit an application this kind of story is actually my favorite kind of story period lol. Also what if your interested in the wildblood Elemental?

backstory:
Trenton is a rather shy young man of the age 19, that has never really fit in anywhere in the standard groups that seem to dominate highschool. He is an army brat his fathers rising military career keeps the family moving and with Trenton it always seems that as soon as he makes some friends they are moving. His mind is always off in some medieval world or some such his imagination is amazing and occasionally he dabbles in writing stories. Recently his family has just moved to Springfield and has just gone to the first few days of Pathfinder High.

Trenton has always loved the water, he began swimming at the age of five and later on became a lifeguard to help his training as well as be near the water.

Wishing to follow his father into the military Trenton has trained for years to try and join the special forces in the navy but had his hopes crushed when they told him he wouldn't be allowed to join due to his flat feet. Lately Trenton has just wished he could go to some other place and belong somewhere have something tell him "this is what your intended for".

Elements and Justification:

Water- Water has always brought a sense of belonging for Trenton and always will.
Earth- Solidness is a quality of Trenton once youve broken down his shyness he is your most trusted friend always willing to support you or help you through anything

Stats:

Str:12
Dex:16(+2 from human)
Con:11
Int:12
Wis:12
Cha:13

Traits:

World traveler-Sense motive: Due to his many moves Trenton has gone through many schools and has become very good at seeing if people are really trying to be his friend or just wishing to tease him

Reactionary:(couldnt think of another will change if necessary) Through his training for the SWCC his recruiter ran him just as if he was already accepted making him swim for an hour and then making him run 2 miles. This taught Trenton to be quick and physically fit and ready to go and do whatever was asked of him.

Definitively closing this thread tomorrow morning and then roleplay will commence. Sad fact is that I will only be able to take four players :( but I will judge fairly and decisively. If by some odd chance I find I like enough of you, I may consider running two groups as this is one of my favorite and most well developed "Stories" I have to date. Especially since a lot of you have expressed considerable interest.

Liberty's Edge

Was there anything else I should add and will the roleplay thread be just on here or will there be a new thread? I did the skills but didnt think to post them sense roleplaying doesn't need them. Also if I don't get picked it's cool I think it's just nice to see a well thought out homegame like this and posting it on the web. Thanks again for the chance

Recruitment closes in one hour.....or rather once I finish mowing the lawn. I will accept any apps between now and then
