I wish that there was something I could say that would make you less upset about it, but I doubt there is. Greg made a nice post about it in the Paizo store thread. It basically boils down to the fact that we don't have a department that manages digital downloads, we're 4 guys working out of our homes across the United States doing our best to get our awesome products out, but there's only so much we can do all at once. We love that you guys love our stuff so much that a small delay in the grand scheme of things becomes a matter of significant annoyance while at the same time we can do nothing but extend our heartfelt apologies for it happening. I sincerely want this product in everyone's hands as fast as possible.

I just finished downloading it and it looks as awesome as I thought it would.
Chuck, I guess my problem is that I would have appreciated an e-mail, even if it just said "Hey Dip s+@!, look HERE!!!" That would have made me feel a lot better. ~sighs and shrugs~ Also chock it up to having "issues" with something else (not you all, btw) that took forever to get resolved and Paizo had it well before I will get it.

P.P.S. - ~laughter~ I love the "First" monster. The CR 20 one. Good job. And yes, I will be buying things from you all again. I understand how much "fun" (yes, that was said with LOTS of sarcasm) it can be running a company with limited assistance. I am sorry for my attitude and I will do better next time.

*sniff* Now that Chuck is successful, he's already forgotten about me.
Seriously, though, this was done mostly on the energy of four persons and anyone they could charm, bribe, cajole, or otherwise coerce to help. Those four are Bill Webb, Greg Vaughan, Matt Finch and last but not least by a long shot, Chuck Wright.
Kudos to you four for getting this in the hands of gamers as fast as you possibly could.
P.S. I hope no more errors are found. That was my job.

I got an email a few hours ago from Frog God Games, asking me to specify which version of the book I wanted (since I preordered almost as soon as FGG opened up for preorders). If any of you are still missing your files and, for some reason, you haven't checked your mail, you may want to do that.
Just sayin'.

I just want to confirm that I got my e-mail from Bill's wife and dutifully replied as I was in the same position. Now I wait. :)

I got the same e-mail, but the download was already in my ezine section. Maybe it's because of the second one I ordered later on...
In any case, the 230 meg file took only about 2 minutes to download.
Wow.
Just... wow. It's wonderful. I'm REALLY looking forward to my hardcovers now...
Which monsters DIDN'T make the cut that were in the original books?
Also, I was hoping the "characters" part of the monster entries would get balanced. With ECL or LA out the door, what guideline should a PC version of the race use?
Thanks
Chris

1) Love your response. Ecstatic over people liking the Tome so much. (We all do!) :)
2) All of the monsters from the originals made the cut, plus 6 more total.
3) I didn't do any of the conversions, but I would assume that the entries for "characters" aren't balanced for PCs, but rather for creating NPC characters of the race. Just like Paizo has decided to do.

Was offline all day yesterday and checked an hour ago, and a) there it was under ezines (which I never would have guessed) and b) got an email just after the download started.
And finally finished downloading, 230MB, 818 pages! Nice job all!
Oh, and I just *love* the first entry (under Greg's forward)!

Hi everyone.
I see in the posts some aggravation that guys who preordered with FGG are getting stuff a tad later than through Paizo. I think it is important to give a bit of history on this. I made the post here ("order now or lose out forever") on June 30. At that point, Paizo was not really involved at all. It wasn't until AFTER my post in this thread that Paizo contacted Bill and ordered some (ok, a lot of) print copies to sell here at paizo.com, and the pdf also of course. Until that happened (which was awesome and which we are very happy about) the sole delivery mechanism for the print product (and thus all preorders) were through FGG's site. I hope that helps explain some of the confusion.
So please cut Bill and Chuck some slack. ;)

So, other than blowing up a couple of servers...(they think its a virus when so much traffic hits)...how did we do?
ps--anyone still having problems? If so, ping me and tech support at support@bytesinteractive.com
Sorry for teh delays...did everyone who got a copy here get the bugs worked out as well (I understand file compression hurt the art for some folks).
Thanks for your patience...the size of this just killed everyone's hardware. Next time I send out emails to upload 20 at a time...

For what it's worth, I love the book, and I deeply appreciate all the efforts getting it to us. This has been a class act the entire way through the process. Thank you all who were involved making the new Tome of Horrors.

I had no prioblems with the down load other than 230 MB took a while. This is a fantastic masterpiece, I can't wait for the print copy. Some of the monsters brought back fond memories, I have been playing since 1977. Some of them I had never seen and was plotting on how to introduce them into my future campaign. One of my NPCs is a fire elementalistm, he is so going to have a fire nymph as a companion with a garden of phlogiston.
Thanks for putting all of the hard work to convert all of these monsters.

The artwork ranged from decent to very good (best I give black and white, sorry). :) The layout was a bit disconcerting in places (too much white space). But overall, very nice.
I am concerned a bit about the CR ratings, some of them bother me. I mostly paid attention to the CRs of the 'as character' races, and a lot of them seemed off on the low side. Flinds seemed especially low for their bonuses.
I'm also curious why all the were's were evil? Is that because they were originally all evil in the books? Because not all were's are evil by core (isn't it were bears who are good? Or was that wereboars?).
Anyway, there's a lot I'll use from it, and a lot I won't, but I feel like I got my $$$'s worth so far (will know more when I have the gold foiled leather bound copy with $20 bookmarks in my hands). ;)

I was stuck between a rock and a hard place. Not all of the art was large enough in file size to expand to fill the white space, I had a promise to keep about 1 monster per page (to the best of my ability and I only broke that rule under very specific circumstances). And where I could I consolidated to 2 monsters on a page, but it wasn't always possible.
In short: I totally agree with you and would have loved to eliminate that white space. It was even brought up during the final galley-proof editing process.

I haven't really sat down and looked through the entire book yet. Mostly because my GM who is running Kingmaker may want to use some of these monsters and I don't want to cheat. But what I have looked at is awesome. I can only imagine the enormous amount of work that went into just putting this together. My hearty thanks and a job well done.
Just my 2 cp.

Figured that was the issue. :) You can look at it another way, you've got plenty of room for errata changes to expand text without breaking the PDF.

I really appreciate this. I have been ridiculously busy at work since a bit before 06/30 and found this just recently. Since Paizo was able to order a large number of the print copies, I should get a hard copy. I am enjoying going through the PDF I got with the Print/PDF Bundle and just looking forward to getting the hard copy.
Although, some of my victims^H^H^H^H^H^H^Hplayers may not agree.

Stupid question: Does this mean Paizo WILL or WON'T have print copies in the Paizo booth? I'd love to pick one up while there...
The print copies, I believe, do not actually exist yet. End of August, from what I understand.

I downloaded my pdf last night and was quite pleased. Just in time for the planning of the final session of my current campaign. *evil laugh*. It would be more fun if I could plop the actual physical book on the table and start paging through looking for the creature of their despair, but the monsters from it being used to torment my players will have to suffice for now.

Wolf Munroe |

Downloaded my PDF a few days ago. All I've really read so far are the demon/devil entries for Orcus, Lilith, Lucifer, and a few lesser fiends, mostly the flavor text rather than stats.
Book looks really cool as far as content goes, though I admit I don't care for the cover art. The three circles/triangle with the three skulls are cool, but the hinges/book edging look very computer generated. The cover may seem less significant once I can actually see the thickness of the book itself in my hands.
I don't mean to complain, it's just my nature. I like the book very much so far, but I'll like it better when I get my hands on my hardcopy as I don't actually like reading PDFs very much.
