I agree with Easop. And I shall endeavor to cut down on the Hand Talk, to just fit everyone in more. We are, after all, doing the Hand talk wrong any way. Well... In accordance with the books anyway. As we are not Maidens, our Handtalk should be no more complicated than "Go Left / Attack Right / Perimeter". Only the Maidens ever made it in to a language. I know this, but doing it that way, just seems like a waste of a Language, when I could have taken Old Tongue instead and had a WHOLE new language.

Sounds good although I'm fine with you guys using the handtalk as a little mini language. I would just suggest not relying on it as heavily. Cause when you boil it down, you have 3 party members who don't 'speak' it and you're essentially having a converstaion behind their backs. Lol, IRL I might feel a little excluded if I had 3 friends who could totally speak english but used sign language around me all the time simply because they knew it. But no worries, I'm not having any problems with things as they are, just observations.
Also, FYI for the group, I will be out of town this weekend. I've got the smart phone so hopefully this will mean a minimum impact but just in case, I wanted people to be aware.

Pandin Stoneherd |

If it would fit better I could definantly roll Pandin into a wetlander heading towards either wolfbrother or warder. That way there would only be 2 Aiel and a Treebrother. Let me know what you think. As you know I had him originally as a boarderlander.
I think that Pandin would work well as a Woodsman from the Boarderlands

In other words since after reading it again it doesn't make any sense I would make a new character that would be a woodsman from the boarderlands and would be heading toward Wolfbrother.
Teach me to post at like 3 in the morning.

Hey, just checking in with Lain again... never did get that .pdf. I don't want to be annoying, but that file would be really helpful.
Also, the game going alright? Saw those posts over the last few weeks about potential party composition issues?
And Panding... HOLY CRAP! That's like a 55 point buy or something (in Pathfinder terms, anyway)...

DM: I'll be moving soon, from Florida to Alabama, so I won't be able to post much starting next weekend. Feel free to DMPC my character starting on the 29th of July until I return. I may be able to post on weekdays if I'm lucky, but weekends are likely to be a no show for me for a few weeks.

Easop |

Gee. I'm good at moving the plot forward...just be AWK for a day and things will take off :-). I'm good with you rolling initiative, and though I was skeptical at first I'm in another game with averaged group initiative...ie good guys go first...bad guys go second etc, and it really speeds up the combat. Since everyone goes on the same initiative you just post when you can instead of waiting for someone else.

Hey everybody. I've been lurking watching your progress on your Prophecies of the Dragon thread. I've very much enjoyed watching you all progress through the game. I had ran my players through this campaign several years ago (traditional RPG playing round the table top). I'm really enjoying watching the interplay.
At present in the thread I've been watching the players dealing with a dying Jasmine (finally got her stabilized, I was sweating).
DM Jonasty, I see something that the players may have overlooked with regards to character stabilization:

That's a good catch. If I'm able to remember things like that I will certainly remind the players. Sometimes it's just hard to keep track of these things. Plus when you're playing a pbp you don't think about checking back to the sheet as often but it's a good point.
Glad you're liking the thread, I feel it's been going pretty good so far.

Absolutely. Very enjoyable. I am really liking the character concepts that were chosen and enjoy the interplay. It seems that you are down a player with Pandin. That is really unfortunate. Anyway, I plan on continuing to watch the events unfold. I am interested to see what the players come up with to deal with the events that I know are coming. If you like if I see anything rules or equipment-wise that I see people have and may be overlooking I can post to this OOC thread with a spoiler "For DM Jonasty's Eyes Only".

DM: I'm going to be on vacation from Thursday through Monday and will likely be unable to post. Please feel free to DMPC my character if necessary. I might be able to lurk with my phone, but that's about it.
Jasmine: Your near death provides my character a good reason to start wanting to protect, which could lead to eventually becoming your warder. What do you think?

Lyrwyan |

You don't have to but if you want to and do catch stuff, it would always be appreciated.
Good stuff. A good thing that the Aes Sedai healed her. Without that it would have been a good while until she'd be back in the fight.
BTW, you'll likely encounter an omission in the Heal skill description on pg79 of the main book at some point where Healing with the One Power isn't available.
Under the use of Healer's Balm in combination with the Heal skill pg79 it states "... make a Heal check against the following table." There is no table (unless you have a newer edition of the rulebook than I). A table was later published unofficially as part of the WoT FAQ 2.0. The "additional damage converted" on this table was: Heal result 0-9 = none, 10-14 = +1hp, 15-20 = +2hp, 20-24 = +3hp and 25+ = +4hp. Therefore, at best, a Healer's Balm applied by someone with the Heal skill converts 1d4+4 HP damage to subdual damage.
Now, per pg144 "Recovering with Help" if Jasmine makes the 10% chance to regain consciousness she is restored to 0HP and the extra HP from the Healer's Balm just boosts her up from there. If she fails (and keeps failing the 10% consciousness check multiple hours in a row), then the Healer's Balm may help her reach consciousness even faster by healing her to over 0HP.
Note that healing naturally pg145, with help from someone with Heal skill and a successful long term care check, in 1 day of complete rest she's get at most: level 2 x 3 = 6hp, plus at most healer using Balm = 1d4+4 =8 for a total max of 14HP recovered and she's back at 3HP since she is at -11hp presently. In 4 hours after the application of the Healer's Balm (level 2 x 4hours = 8 subdual healed per pg149 healing subdual damage) all the subdual damage is healed as well.

No worries, real life is what it is. I know Labor Day weekend is gonna be nuts for me. That plus a move to a new apartment next month will mean craziness for me. I'll DMPC if necessary but will avoid it if I can. Enjoy the vaca!

I love it when in game events give good tie ins to character mechanics. I think that's an awesome idea. :-)
This sounds awesome!

DM Jonasty |

Just wanted to apologize and give a heads up. Work has really been kicking my tail last week and this week, and as you may have guessed given my usual posting times and amounts I tend to do a lot of my posting at work. ;-)
That being said, I'm still around and kicking and chomping at the bit for the game and hope to have updates soon and be more on the ball with posting. I just didn't want anyone to think I had abandoned the game.

DM Jonasty |

So it seems like things have stalled out a bit in the game. We've lost some people and things have been on a kind of a slow slant of late. I think some of this is in part due to the nature of the adventure as it has a slow buildup that I think works better IRL and also some of it is just real life stuff.
That being said, while it's looking like this might be a dead end, I am firmly refusing to let a Wheel of Time game die here. My plan is to possibly start up a homebrew campaign using the system and setting, taht way I could really crank the pace up as needed. If I were to do this, I would totally want any of you that are still around and interested in the game. No audition or submission stuff as I know you are solid players in WoT, just create a character and be ready to play.
Would people be interested in this if I try to "resurrect" the game?

DM Jonasty |

That's enough feedback for me. Alright, I'll get a new OOC thread started soon and posted here so you guys can move over there. I might open a recruitment thread just to see if anyone else wants a shot.
As far as the new game and characters, I'm gonna have everyone start at level 5. This puts people on the cusp of PrC's and stuff to work towards. Also from a timeline perspective this will be starting roughly during the end of book 5/beginning of book 6. The big change that this will open up is that male channelers can start with levels of Initiate and can plan on Prestiging into full Asha'man.
If you want to create a new character from scratch that's fine. If you want to play the same person and level them up to 5, that works too. I'll get the OOC thread up soon so you can start getting things together and brainstorming your new group dynamics.

DM Jonasty |

Too bad you guys didn't make it out of this chapter. It fizzled out right as things get very interesting in that chapter.
Yeah the game does get pretty interesting, especially as it goes on. It does play better IRL though as the combat and moments are so far in between at times that the delay can really drag out on the forums.
