Afternoon!? Ive already been out on my Sunday morning workout... getting abck to the groove, but my cardio is sucking and my run times are blowing. grindgrindgrind.

Got a new 10k running plan though, so get back to good 10k runs and then back to working on half marathons.

Male Wandering Nomad 3

Sorry I've been silent for a few days, just finished up the last leg of my journey. The bad news, though, is that I arrived to find that sometime during the journey my laptop seems to have broken. I still have internet access and my posting will probably not be too slowed up, but I won't be back in the full swing of things until the day after tomorrow.

I can probably manage to run Kyren in HoD, at least for combat. I can try roleplaying the party face, when it's needed, as well, but it might have to come down to the dice to be convincing :P

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

Mornin'!

@ Garabott: Repair or new one?

Male Wandering Nomad 3

I don't know yet. The screen won't work at all, but the laptop seems to be functioning beyond that. As in, it turns on and runs, but the screen stays black. If it's a replacement I need, I'll probably look into getting a desktop instead of a laptop: they break less often, and I'm sick and g@#!+#n tired of dealing with problems with my laptop :P

Heading to bed, it's been a long day. Goodnight everyone.

I had a similar problem on my laptop a while ago and as it was way way out of its warranty I took it apart and had a go at fixing it myself. Turns out it had been knocked at some point and the ribbon cable connecting the screen to the motherboard had been knocked slightly loose. All I had to do was push it carefully back in and it was fine. Not saying yours will be the same but that sounds like a likely culprit for a screen that just stops working. That or the power cable for the screen came loose.

Dungeon Master

Ok folks, those were my last posts for a wee bit. Have a good week. Be back soon. I leveled up Kyren in time so he is all up to date. Garabbott, thanks for taking him. Would you be interested in playing Solaric as well? He has a lot of investigative work to do. Either way, thanks everyone. Bye!

Another day in paradise!

Domestic duties just about done, will eventually get out for a nice long run, then off for some primping and preening for the afternoon - in a manly kind of way.

Really feeling the return back to fitness though, been a long few days of it, and a hard week ahead... so booking myself in for an afternoon of massage this week methinks.

You?

Female Human Rogue-Knife Master/10 (Init: +4)

Hurray for metrosexuals :P

I was having a pretty calm day, looking forward to picking my daughter up from her dad's. Right up until I actually picked her up and my ex decided his day just wasn't complete without pissing me off. It's all good though, I'm calm now and happy to have my girl home.

Plus, I think it may actually rain again tonight. It's trying too anyway. The rain makes me quite happy.

VC - Sydney, Australia

Ex's tend to be a pain for some reason, as though they just can't help but have a scene about everything. A friend of mine broke up with her long time partner for cheating on her, so once she had finished her 'Pity party for one' we took her out (I had some single friends so it was all good!) and then Ex guy turns up and bumps into us all with his mates and decides to pull her aside and make a scene.

Anyone wouldhave thought SHE was the one in the wrong. What a douche.

Female Human Rogue-Knife Master/10 (Init: +4)

I think douche perfectly describes my ex. Once my divorce is finally final, I intend to go out and have a huge celebration complete with a sash that proclaims me as being "Just Divorced" ;)

VC - Sydney, Australia

It's not 'Divorce', its just a 'special diet' where you lose 180 pounds and an a**hole.

Male Orc Expert 5

So decided to load up some Rammstein while doing some writing tonight. Been a while since my poor american ears have been filled with a german guy screaming at his penis. Or about newspaper cannibalism adds.

Granted the cannibalism song goes perfectly when writing about particularly nasty and evil people.

VC - Sydney, Australia

Rammstein is lovely stuff :)

ROFLMFAO! Brilliant!

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

A friend of mine made a "celebrate the divorce tour". Visiting all bars and pubs in town for two weeks, always wearing a t-shirt that depiced Jabba the Hut with his ex-wife's head :)

VC - Sydney, Australia

Its a quirk of life that a guy wearing a tshirt proclaiming 'freshly divorced' will find himself surrounded only by a small number of his mates at the corner of a bar; yet a WOMAN wearing the same tshirt will find herself at the MIDDLE of the bar surrounded by all her girlfriends, and every available male in the room.

Why Men Have Better Friends

Friendship between Women:

A woman didn't come home one night. The next day she told her husband that she had slept over at a friend's house. The man called his wife's 10 best friends. None of them knew about it.

Friendship between Men:

A man didn't come home one night. The next day he told his wife that he had slept over at a friend's house. The woman called her husband's 10 best friends. Eight of them confirmed that he had slept over, and two claimed that he was still there.

VC - Sydney, Australia

Now, that is generally true... but tell you what, there was this bucks night in Mexico I went to, and I gotta say thats NOT how it all went down.

Sad and horrible story, I'm still scarred.

It made me set the rules for the next two bucks nights I ran, that both ended in spectacular success and massively good times had by all.

Male Pale Master

Forgive my ignorance, but whats a bucks night?

Zyren:

I think I'll withdraw from the Heart of Madness campaign. I'm just not feeling my character. It isn't your fault, though. I'm sorry.

Personally, I dislike the social double standard that favour women today. Always got the impression that in today's Western culture, women have the same rights as men, if not more, and yet they are always treated as though they're victims.

I don't presume to treat anybody based on their gender - if you're nice to me, I'm nice to you, and so on. It's blatant I'm biased, though. I was the only guy in a group of eight during high school. When my mental health started to deteriorate, they all told me to "stop being such a drama queen" because I never had to suffer menstruation, and that I was weak because I "never had to go through child birth."

Good thing I never actually have to deal with women.

EDIT: Removed some parts of the post because it was rather crude and pointless.

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

Is that a good thing? Sounds a bit one-sided^^

Zyren Zemerys wrote:

I consider it a good thing when my past experiences consist of being treated like trash because of my gender during a turbulent time of my life. Something that shouldn't happen in the first place.

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

I guess not all women are as bad as the ones you had around you during that time-you should give 'em a new chance :)

Zyren Zemerys wrote:

I know. As I said beforehand: "I don't presume to treat anybody based on their gender - if you're nice to me, I'm nice to you." While it is a bit of a lie - I'm more cautious around women than I am around men - the general rule still applies. I try to not think of anybody as "a gender." We're all human in the first place.

I don't care if someone is male, female, black, white, yellow, or green; whether they date men, women, or marsupials - theres only one measure in my book: "Either you are a C***, or you're not".

I'm not too cautious, I'm pretty open, and sometimes people pull stuff - but thats about their issues, not mine.

And Nieve sounds like those people should just give themselves an uppercut.

I apologise if I came off as close-minded or if I offended anyone - I try to not treat people differently based on colour or gender or sexuality (the latter in particular, what with being gay myself and all). It isn't always easy with particular memories or experiences, though.

I agree entirely with you, Shifty.

Yeah... well, I gave them a metaphorical one once upon a time, heh.

How does that work if you’re a chick with mostly male friends?

Nieve wrote:

That’s just because adolescents are generally a**holes. It’s all good, I understand the rant. I tend to have more male friends than female friends because I generally relate to them better. As a woman though, I’m glad to know you try to take each person as they come. I knew that I was bisexual when I was 9-years-old and I had some troubling times with that as a child. Now days, I just don’t give a F*#& what anyone else thinks.

I second that. My only real rule for people is you mess with my daughter and you’re dead. Period.

…And with that all being said, Good Morning Everyone!! I’ll be headed out here in a bit, I have a lot of errands to run today and then I’m taking my brothers and family out for dinner. I’ll be back on later, exhausted, to post again.

The resolution of the Captain.

The first assumption was that the Captain wouldn’t have connected Victoria and Kirk to Pitr, as they had never been seen together by the Captain, and even if he had done his homework and knew Pitr had allies, he’d not necessarily have known what we looked like.

Based on that logic, Victoria assumed another reasonable identity that would be perfectly believable in such a place and similiarly used Kirk’s natural appearance as a prop to add weight to the cover story.

The Rascals: The theory behind setting the kids off on a wild story about burglars was that the City Watch might well go and investigate, should they have noted Pitr being home in the wee hours, he’d have had them able to support his claim that he was home at the time of any wrongdoing . The City Watch would not necessarily investigate a murder, so hopefully dots wouldn’t connect unless we needed them to.

The Tenor: The idea here was to keep adding layers to Victorias character and layer more ‘social proof’ onto the deception. The more she looked like she belonged to casual observers, the more people would back her story.

The Captain: Seen leaving together in good spirits, it would seem unlikely that she was the one to push him off his perch, similarly it would be socially expected for Kirk to follow dutifully from the shadows as a tail,by acting suspiciously he ironically draws less attention, as it would be not out of place.

The Hit: Where else would a Captain seeking to challenge a bunch of Pirates meet his fate but down near the Docks in a park... the sort of place one might have a duel. The dropping in a near alleyway is similarly the action of ruffians, the removal of the jaw prevents Speak with Dead.

The Evidence: His nice clothing would have gone down a treat for a bunch of vagrant sailors, a nice jacket and a fine pair of boots and other key pieces dumped outside a tavern are sure to get new owners. With a bunch of sailors wearing his clothes, this would add another layer to the misinformation, and point further at sailors and pirates.

The return: Setting up the illusion that the good Captain had returned alive and well was important; as he was seen alive and well at the Tenor, and by all appearances got lucky upstairs. The continuation of the lie in asking the Concierge to keep an eye out in case he left to fight the Pirates that had followed him home was just another layer of ruse, to set up the story even further.

The room: removing the letter about revenge, but leaving all the money behind would set the scene of a man who might have left, with every intention of returning. No pirate or rogue would leave such a hearty sum behind, it would be inconceivable that a blade for hire would not take that much wealth... so it looks as though he did leave indeed of his own initiative.

Thats pretty much it off the top of my head, but the way I figure, the Nightscarves would get the tip off about either a missing guest or a found body, and once that happened they’d investigate the hotel, and hear of a bunch of threatening pirates seen in the late hours, and that the Captain was keen on seeking revenge. Following that lead, they’d find a few people walking about with articles of his clothing, apparently found near the docks... that is AFTER they had spent time interrogating those suspects.

If anyone twigged to the relationship between the Captain and Pitr, Pitr has people able to vouch for his location; whether allies, or city watch.

TLDR - Basically the thing has so many loose ends and mysterious parties that the most obvious is the most likey, he went for a confrontation and lost. With so much misinformation the Nightscarves would probably call it a day at that; how much effort are they going to spend on a foreign sailor dying around docks?

Of course that leaves us one final conundrum;

The Loot.

I am still working out a good cover for how to introduce the items into the party, though I think I have a cunning plan... I winder if there are any magics or craftsmen to alter the appearance of the items? New scabbards, lacing on the boots etc...

Either work it into the visor of a helm, or perhaps into a bandana... something that could be worn on the head innocently enough, and then deployed when needed. Possibly mounted into a masque....

Oh also, should have mentioned this earlier really but I am going to Israel for a month starting tomorrow. I'll still be able to post but only in the evenings and on Saturdays. Israel is at GMT+2 so that puts my posting time in GMT at around 4pm-10pm for the next month, not much different than before but I won't really be able to stay up late due to getting up at 6am for work.
