This is going to be a sandbox, semi-political game in Absalom, all characters will be members of the Guild of Querying Physicks from Wayfinder 4 pg75-78 (so you have to meet the prereqs). Plot will be mainly driven by the actions of the PCs and expect more NPC interaction and downtime than normal. Looking for 4+ players.
Characters are level 6, 20pt build, 10,000gp with a free mirror mask from Wayfnder 4 pg78, 2 character traits (APG only). Anyone interested post bellow!
Core, APG and Ultimate magic classes/equipment/feats/spells only though, requests for different things I may approve of

I think I would love to be a part of this. I'm thinking of a witch, a female who is enamored of death, specifically how close one can get to it without sucuumbing. She'll probably deal in poisons, possibly, with a pact made with an entity that feeds on the moment of clarity just before death.
Would that work?
Filios |
Definitely interested...thinking rogue. I am not sure of particular build. I need to re-read the article from the Wayfinder. Either halfling or elf. I will not be able to re-examine the materials until tomorrow, but I will have a build for you by the end of the day Friday. I really enjoy PbP's and gaming in general that are dripping with intrigue. This sounds perfect. I am a very experienced gamer and fairly experienced with PbP's.
Allarion the Urban Druid |
This is James, by the by.
So, after mocking up a witch (and getting a +22 to alchemy at level 6, WOW!) I decided not to go with her. She was just a little less interesting that I wanted. So I put together a serpent druid, and here he is!
Allarion keeps a small shop that specializes in exotic remedies. Specifically of the poisonous variety. He breeds serpents, and keeps a rooftop garden on his shop. He's been known to heal people before, as well as accept the odd assassination job now and then. (His Modus Operandi is to approach a home near dark and meld into the stone of the wall or building. He waits until dark, then steps out and speaks with a serpent he's brought for that purpose. He sends it into the house, has it bite the victim, then return to him. Voila! Dead victim. Alternatively, he's been known to do the deed himself, wild-shaped into a serpentine form.) He's more of a viper than a constrictor, and his personality reflects that: cold, calculating and patient.
Gendo |
Gendo, well psionics is a little bit of a pain to introduce, though i don't mind adding it if it fits your character concept, which is?
Allarion: interesting choice
The character would be based upon Count Tyrone Rugen from the movie The Princess Bride. The psionics angle would be the 'machine' he uses to craft his own definitive study on pain.
Filios |
I have fleshed out the Character a little more after re-reading the Wayfinder.
Maeltheron Timmerond, NE, Male Elf, Rogue (Sniper)5/Assassin 1.
Maeltheron will of course be specializing in the pain caused by the death of his victims as a pain merchant assassin. He has made it an artwork to kill from a distance. While Maeltheron was born and raised in the Kyonin Forest, he was forced from the elven homeland by those who could see through his fascade of benevolence to the deeper seeded interest in causing pain and death. However, this was not until after he learned the skills and received the training for the use of his Composite Long Bow and Elven Curveblade.
Maeltheron quickly found a home in Absalom with the Guild of Querying Physicks as a pain merchant used to handle discrete disposal from a distance. He seeks now to expand his fame as an expert assassin, and he looks forward to all of the support that the Guild can provide to assist him in his craft of death dealing.
Specific profile and build will be made available after work...

RL friend of Filios here, I'd be interested in this. Would an Antipaladin be out of place, here? I can do more along the line of fleshing that concept out once I return from lunch and read the article in question.
Edit: No, it won't work, rats. The requirement for a neutral axis prevents it. I'm still interested, but I need to reconsider a concept. I will post anew once I figure something out.
Edit 2: Oh, I'm TOTALLY going to work up a bladebound Magus for this. Give me a half hour.
Bal-Dashiir |
Bal-Dashiir, LN Male Half-Elf, Magus (Bladebound) 6
Raised by his elven father among the elves of Kyonin, Bal-Dashiir trained vigilantly in the magical and martial proficiencies of the First People. As an adolescent, he fell deeply in love with a human maiden, the daughter of a simple farmer from the human settlement of Greengold who he met on an unauthorized trip into the human city. Bal-Dashiir's father forbade the relationship, however, and he was unable to see his love for nearly a year. When he finally snuck away again, he found the farmer's fields razed and the barn burned. Inquiring around, he learned that shortly after he had left a year earlier, bandits had attacked the farm in the night, killing the family - all save the girl's body were found - and razing the property after securing any items of worth.
Bal-Dashiir rent his garments and wept. He fled into the forest, where his despair turned to anger at the father who had kept him from the life he had chosen. Returning to his father's estate, he knocked his father unconcious before taking him to a remote glade to inflict pain upon him, that the father might know the pain of the son.
As he hurridly gathered his meager belongings on his way into hiding with his father, he found a black-bladed rapier that he had never seen before laying under his straw pallet. The blade felt true, but more than that: it felt like the truth itself in his hands. It whispered to him that all of life is pain, that there is no good or evil, that only pain would come to his enemies from this point forward. This was a message that Bal-Dashiir could understand; one that he could learn to live. The Bal-Dashiir of old passed away on that day; his father followed him thirteen agonizing days later.
Bal-Dashiir now operates in Absalom as a Pain Merchant. The law of pain is all he knows. He will not, however, willingly harm a truly innocent female unto this day. He has long since accepted that no men are truly innocent.

Maeltheron looks fine, I'll wait till monday to start the game (still looking for that one extra-player...)
This sounds like a really entertaining game. If you don't mind i think i'll be lurking in the game thread.
**Gestures to Patrik**
Bal-dashiir is getting much closer now. Magi are a lot of freaking work to put together with only partial Herolab support! He'll be ready by Monday, for sure.
Bal-Dashiir |
Also, you need to choose a second language for it (beyond Common). UM says it's your choice.

Bal-Dashiir
Pell Tempeck - yea still need your character sheet, but you say your done so...
I guess since no one else has show interest and we have 4 players we'll start!

I'm a friend of Filios and Jeremiziah. Are you still looking for a player? I won't have a chance to complete a character until Sunday when I get back from vacation, but I'd really like to play.
As far as character concept goes, I'm thinking Inquisitor with the Infiltrator archetype...
Lilith Altaer |
After reading through much of the Ultimate Magic, I found something that interested me more than the Inquisitor.
I'd like to run a Cleric (Undead Lord). I think the concept fits pretty well. I started the character and should have a chance to finish sometime Monday night.
If this works for your game, please let me know how you would like to handle her corpse companion. I'd like it to be a standard 6th level skeleton...
