Eldritch Heritage + Robes of Arcane Heritage?

Rules Questions

Do the Robes of Arcane Heritage (Magic item from APG) impact your effective level for the ability you get from Eldritch Heritage Feat (from UM)?
I am guessing you can't get any other abilities by it since it specifically calls that out in the feat, but I wasn't sure about the effective level...

I was wondering the same thing as a player, a sorcerer, is wanting to take eldritch heritage... she was wanting these robes anyway, and I was just wondering what effect if any the robe would have...

i figured it would be best to post here in this thread rather than make my own, if anyone could clarify I would truly appreciate it.

Re-reading the item and the feat, it seems to be you would indeed increase the effective level for the bloodline power BUT only if the robes are keyed to that bloodline. If you are a sorcerer already you would have to choose if the robes are going to apply to your bloodline, or to the bloodline you have the power from via eldritch heritage...

My interpretation anyway, and that is what I am going to use unless someone official says something about it.

That seem right to me. If your GM let's you, you can pay x1.5 the cost and have it effect both bloodlines (just as if it were two robes in one).

You gain the first-level bloodline power for

the selected bloodline. For purposes of using that power,
treat your sorcerer level as equal to your character level –
2, even if you have levels in sorcerer.

You do not gain any of the other bloodline abilities.

The last section of the feat eldritch heritage answer the question I think

Silver Crusade

These elegant, dark purple and royal blue robes are usually decorated with gold stitching depicting a sorcerer bloodline, though some indicate a family tree. The stitching changes to match the sorcerer bloodline of the wearer. The wearer treats her sorcerer level as 4 higher than normal for the purpose of determining what bloodline powers she can use and their effects.

"Some indicate a family tree". "For the purpose of [...] their effects."

Well, guess my (messy, crossblooded) family tree with Gralazabut the Cruel, Huge fire demon on the right side and Iryodiel the Tiny fey on the left side will look KOOL on me.
So, crossblooded + Robes of arcane heritage seem perfectly fine, I don't think the poor sorcerers need to pay even more for this.

About Eldritch heritage, it seems I would allow them to work (family tree), but since there is already a -2, the robes only give a +2 compared to a true bloodline sorceror. It's effectively :
- Your character level = sorcerer level.
- Got a robe ? Lucky you ! Add +4.
- Oh, don't forget it's only an heritage. Subtract -2 to your level and cry me a river. If you are a full blood sorcerer, happy you, you can ignore this last step !

A 10th level character with eldritch heritage and a robe would have an effective sorcerer level for the powers of his heritage of 12.

I concur.

Yeah, this all seems the most sensible way of reading it I think.
Thanks guys.
