I love the idea of having a Gun Slinger, and I've always been interested in using guns in fantasy. Ranging from Pirates to Gun mages. This is probably why The Iron Kingdoms Gunmage is one of my favorite classes. But the problem I have isn't that players don't want to play with guns in their game (though that's true to in some part). But that it seems to just generally be Taboo to have guns in a fantasy world (Steam Punk being the acception).
I know I'm having this problem now with this class, is that I want to play it, (And also my Ranger/horse lord/skirmisher cowboy concept) but no one likes the idea of having guns in their world. And the one response I've heard more than anything else is "If you want that, then go play steam punk."
Has anyone else who have wanted to playtest the gunslinger had this problem? Come across this Taboo of firearms?

Play your character in PFS.
It's legal, although expect the rules to change after the playtest.
No PFS GM would/could refuse a legal character; I would suggest you make sure you know the rules and how the character works (mechnically) and have the books on hand as a ready reference for you GM.
I have an idea season 3 will touch on factions in a way that will bring things together, don't worry about those people who don't get it just bring your character to the table and have fun.
Homebrew can be a bit weird; low-magic etc... Just find some guys/gal who are good fit. As long as you have a good concept for your GM you should be right.

Many of my games over the years have had firearms, but never any emphasis on them. I still run 3.5, but I freely import Pathfinder ideas. I could probably jam a nerfed Gunslinger into my game with no changes to my game world (as I already had those weapons, and a culture that uses them). I have an easier time getting a Gunslinger in that I would, say, a Swordsage, Warblade, or Crusader.
Nerfed, of course, because my game is generally 3.5, and raw Pathfinder classes are OP in there.
And of course you can play in PFS.
I think it'll be moderately well accepted. I've certainly run worlds with no guns, and will continue to do so, as well. Do you put every class in your game worlds as it is?
