Even though they said the firearm rules were fixed, they changed them anyways:

"When firing upon a target within a firearm’s first range increment, the attack resolves against the target’s touch AC, but is not considered a touch attack for the purposes of feats such as Deadly Aim."

Hmm, it needs to be more clear.

1) Does that mean one can use Deadly Aim with a gun now?

2) Or does it mean when you use Deadly Aim with a gun, it is no longer resolved as a touch attack?

I hope for the latter, as that not only gives Deadly Aim back to gunslingers for more damage output, but also doesn't overpower it.

Then again, I don't think it'd be too overbalanced otherwise. The reload time for guns is still the drawback when compared to bows.

the way im reading it, guns are not touch attacks. they "resolve against the targets touch ac." if they were touch attacks, they would say that. this was how it was worded in the first playtest which meant that it made no sense as to why you couldnt use deadly aim with it since they said that they worded it specifically like that.

i would say you can use deadly aim AND it resolves against the touch ac of the target within the first range increment unless you use deadeye or something to resolve against touch ac beyond the first increment.

this doesnt seem over powered to me. they are alternate fighters without as much feats, they need something to help them up their damage.

It should be number 1.

If you break the sentenced down:

"When firing upon a target within a firearm’s first range increment, the attack <omit sentence clause> is not considered a touch attack for the purposes of feats such as Deadly Aim."

It was never considered a touch attack; it was always a standard ranged attack that bypassed armor/ natural armor bonuses, the same way a touch attack does. much the same way an "incorporeal touch attack" is not the same as a standard touch attack, since incorporeal touch attacks don't ignore force armor.

Option 1 is the appropriate interpretation going by sentence structure.
