lol!

You all need to come to Houston. I will cook a huge dinner. :)

Sovereign Court

But not naked. :)

Naked lunch is an Edgar Rice Burroughs book.

I have a really nice table I need to sell - I got a bigger nice table and don't have room for the old one. I have an old TV I want to get rid of too. Hm. Two items is rather small for a garage sale, but honestly it's what I should do.

There's always Craigslist.

Do you have a copy of your housing contract?

Everything's done online, with no option to print, so no.

I agree with Jess, even with no clothes. I suspect that something was miscommunicated. Perhaps they are telling students that they can't get a refund on their tuition just because they don't have housing, but they can't legally keep your room & board.

They're keeping the down payment, which is about $2,000. The actual billing period hasn't started yet, so that's all I gave them.

The excuse they're giving is that even though I paid, I never sent in an application for housing, which is total b+#~$~+*, but there's no way to prove it.

And to top it all off, random university employees wandered into my apartment at f~**-all AM to ask me why I was here for the second time in two months.

You can copy and paste to a document. Or better yet, there are browser add-ons that allow you to extract a page and save it into a format from which you can essentially print what you need.

Thanks, but about a month too late.

That stinks Shiny. No if's, and's or but's about it.

As a university employee, while I still disagree with what they are doing, I know why.

The university I work for has had our federal/state monies cut by approx. 42.5% during the last 5 years. We have gone from a mostly fed/state funded state university to a primarily self-income generated state university. (And this fall alone, we are facing ANOTHER 18 million $ shortfall!)

I haven't had a raise in over 4 years. They are getting so desperate for money, any (legal?) excuse they can make to keep whatever they can grab they will use.

And of course, if we complain about lack of raises, we can be replaced, because there are SO many people looking for jobs,...

Sorry,... (/ramble, /gripe)

It may not be worth the trouble to you, I don't know, but if you have free time and want to go after them, small claims court might be an option for that amount. If there's no application, there's no need for a down payment, and they should return the money. Get bank statements for the time period, be annoying as hell until they give you the $2k back. That $2k is worth a lot more to you than it is to them, if you want to be stubborn and annoying about it!

Stubborn and annoying describes me when my nose is out of joint pretty well. :)

I hope that things aren't as bad as they seem right now, and that someone will have an attack of concience and do what's right.

In this case I'm not really trying out something new which is stupid, I am attempting to discover just how stupid something is. Completely safe, I swear.

Whoa! Where'd you get all those?

Well...until I get paid. There are down sides to be contract, but the upside is I get paid overtime!

New product rollouts while you're on call suck.
