I thought The Scarlet Spider was cool. When he replaced Parker as Spidey is when I lost interest in the character.
I liked the suit during that time, though. It's a shame they killed him off, he should've gone on to become the Venom after Eddie Brock. That would've been a much more fitting end for him.

Scarlet Spidey's suit could have done without the sweatshirt.

Nu Spidey costume was AWESOME. I wish Parker would have kept it for awhile.

That's about the time I got out of reading comics. Spiderman was one of the last ones I read.

I think they gave Scarlet Spider the sweatshirt so he didn't look so much like Deadpool. Deadpool is almost a ringer for Spiderman as it is.

I can see that. I think that SS got a sweatshirt because it was the 90's and it was "cool". ;)

Sweatshirts were never cool!

*sticks fingers in ears* lalalalalalalalalalalalala

That all happened around the same time that Cable-Deadpool was really popular. I never got into Cable, but I did really enjoy Age of Apocalypse while it was around. Magneto-Rogue... weird relations right there.

AoA was great. It got me back into the X-Men. Deadpool never connected with me and Cable is/was a one trick pony. I hated the 90's X-Force and I hate Liefeld.

So...

Spoiler:
My 9-year-old son brings home his math assessment (aka "test") and it has a 52% as a score. The reason? Because he was sick one of the two days of the assessment (vomiting) and they didn't have him make it up.

Thinking that this was part of the reason for his C+ grade in math, we approach the teacher (via email) asking if he can make up the missed portion of the exam and why he wasn't allowed to begin with.

The response we got was incredibly defensive, parts of the response was in all caps, and never really addressed whether or not he could make up the missed portion of the test. She then said that his grade reflected his knowledge of the subject. (So I'm not sure if the "assessments" demonstrate knowledge or not.) She also implied that our son had been missing FAR more days of school than the rest of the class. She also said that he gets plenty of accomodations which seemed to imply that he wasn't to get any this time.

So we replied and tried to explain the sicknesses and apologized for the absences and again tried to find out if he could make up the test.

The reply we got today was cc'd to the principal and said that things weren't working out this way and if we really wanted to we could schedule a meeting with her, the team lead, the principal, and the neighbor's dog (I believe). All just to find out if our son can make up the second portion of a stupid assessment when he was out sick? She then said that our son had missed a total of 10 days this school year and that the school would have to report him to the district as "truant". Seriously? Is that a threat?

My wife and I are so pissed right now, we are finding it difficult to even think straight. I think I need to hire pony boi to write a letter...

Wow Moff.... are you in the UK?

Similar school system to the Australian one... A few of my friends are teachers. I can ask them but all I can recomend is that play it nice but assertive in the meeting and ask why he cant make up the portion he missed. The amount of days off sick are irrelivant to him not being given the same level of testing as the other students.

If that is not satisfactory ask who is the principles supervisor (nicely) and take it to them.

Haven't even thought of Liefeld in a long time. So I thought I'd Google him...

He's got some really funny stuff out there.

And here. I liked this comment...
"Seriously, what the hell? That woman’s torso has been severed, crushed in a vise, and then reattached at a Pythagoreanly impossible angle. Which is an insult not just to me, who hardly counts, but to Pythagoras, and you don’t want to mess with that dude. He invented the hypotenuse, Jack, that crap will mess you up! My only theory is that this thong-abusing leather-busted woman with a deranged attachment to pouch belts is some bastard child of The Wasp, inheriting both her waist and (sadly) her fashion sense."

And here.

See, he's a comedian.

EDIT: Some of those links didn't work -- so I updated it...

Nope, I'm in Colorado, USA.

I thought that Lynora, LPM, and/or Solnes would at least appreciate that this kind of thing doesn't only happen to them. This teacher is so far out of line, I don't even know where to begin. We have a meeting scheduled with the principal tomorrow. It'll be fun.

Not sure how the US system works.... but sounds like the teacher has made some errors and is looking to cover it by using the Wookie defence (bringing up irrelevances to distract everybody).

Good luck. And yeah, it's all too common for this kind of crap to occur. I've mastered the art of nice but scary over the last three years. Seems to be the best strategy for getting things done.

Not necessarily pertinent to this situation, but a couple of videos I found hilarious about dealing with the school for your enjoyment...:)

Yeah, I'm allergic to bloody everything. Hives are nothing new. But usually I can pinpoint what caused it. Something in the new desk maybe? Something I ate? No way to know for sure which irks me since then I can't limit exposure so this wretched itching will stop.

I dunno, that sounds worse to me! O.o I mean, yeah, the accident was bad, but there was little momentum involved, and I wasn't injured. The one where we were broadsided at about 55-60 mph in the rear driver's side was worse as far as injuries and stuff goes. Accidents with 18 wheelers just sound so dramatic, though.

Yeah, we walked away from that one (I wasn't driving), no real injuries. I had a bit of whiplash is all. The tow truck driver was flummoxed. He said he'd never seen an accident like that with no fatalities let alone no injuries.

Getting broadsided at 55-60mph sounds way worse than hitting a bus.
