Fine. Why is it the Scots that are always thieves or barbarians, huh?
Well not sure about the theiving part but the warrior and barbarian part I sort of see. Though we are some of the greatest engineers more than likely it is the English who write about us being thieves and barbarians perhaps for the sound wuping we have given them in wars over the years. Also the reason why they decided when they were an empire to take most of us for their ground troops because of our fighting prowess.

Eh, don't mind me. Don't mean to rain on your parade. I'm just grumpy. Sorry. There are plenty of stereotypes around: hardheaded Dutch, cowardly French, etc. Scots got no corner on stereotyping.

Fable kinda pissed me off because the bandits are the only ones with accents, and they're Scottish. I think it was Fable. But ignore me. Everyone knows how thin-skinned we Scots are! ;)

Bingo! And what's not Scottish is German, so I'm doubly homocidal/genocidal. :D

Yeah, when I tell some people my great-grandparents came off the boat from Ireland, they start looking at me like I'm going to kick their teeth in and steal their watch.

Me, I'm 60% Irish, 30% German, and 10% Welsh. I was born to be a mentally unstable alcoholic.

Honestly, I can walk across gravel bare-foot without flinching. But legos are still super painful. So many sharp edges. I've stepped on straight pins that hurt less than those darn things. (I used to sew a lot. Inevitably the box of straight pins gets spilled on the floor at some point. And you always find it with your foot. Always.)

Amazingly enough, GenCon was awesome, but not totally, mind-rippingly awesome. Had a great time playing the Goblin cleric in We Be Goblins!, the Society game wasn't over the top, but it was enjoyable, and the Shadowrun Tournament was Legend (wait for it) dary (even though we got screwed by our second GM).
The seminars didn't have any big surprise announcements, so I didn't get all fired up about stuff (although, the Rise of the Runelords Minitures pack, which should have gargantuan Rune giants is pretty sweet). I had more fun in the "off-the-record" stuff like hanging out with Keith Baker on Thursday night and just talking gaming, or the Unofficial Candlekeep Symposium on Friday night with Ed Greenwood, Eric Scott de Bie, Jaleigh Johnson, Steven Schend, Erin Novaks, Matt James, and Bruce Cordell.
So, that means I came home with money left. Money that could be put towards a trip down south for a weekend or somethin'...
So, in other words, you got a ton of stuff for your blog post. Sounds good, although Tordek said that your post was going to be donkey balls compared to his. Gee, I sure hope you guys don't get into an ever-escalating war of bloggery.

Damn! Now I'll have to update my PaizoCon post.

Same, unless it's more crushed rock than gravel. With that stuff, though, you know you're stepping on it so your foot muscles adjust (or something).

Speaking of Germans, I just read an article about how German beer gardens are the new up and coming trend in American cities(like Irish pubs for the last few decades). I find that kinda cool since so many Americans have German ancestry yet no one acknowledges it.

Black Irish?
My grandparents probably came off the boat from the Old Country about the same time as Shiny's greats - between the wars? So I'm half-and-halfish.
I don't pay much attention to it, but I'm English, German, Austrian, Irish, and maybe Polish. My dad's side of the family is almost entirely Germanic, and came here around great-great-grandparents times.
Oh, and my new thread is entirely the fault of whoever started talking about this.

Lois Lane. Can't seem to get it on Google Maps. Still, looks like it's not that uncommon (another one in Bandon).

I am not hard headed! I'll have you know I am the epitome of soft spoken reason and compromise. And I never lose my temper or adopt a stubborn stance!
and you can't change my mind about that, either!
