Got it, will be prepared for the feels when I get around to it.

Just wanted to point out that this is accurate.

There is a lot of light hearted fun and silliness, as well as just real fun in general, but the show never really lets you forget that you’re following what is essentially a sick little girl in a medieval-like (only mildly worse, some ways mildly better) world based off of Dutch/French/fantasy people of something akin to that era - after guilds were invented, but before world travel was a common thing, and walled cities were both real and still necessary.

And where six year olds have to make life-altering decisions and make arrangements or get jobs, seven year olds must choose the job that lasts their lifetime and fifteen year olds are adults, with all that implies for good or ill, and illiteracy is the norm. It’s beautiful and funny and sad and interesting - disease in general seems less rampant than it was, but other things are worse and some are worse than others.

I just wanted to get dressed.

I like it a lot. Very sweet in a way other shows like this are not. Very lighthearted, maybe?

Alas, I can't find it on Crunchy Roll!

I'm also planning on watching Spice & Wolf at some point, but I understand that is on a different streaming service other than CR, as well.

I am currently watching most of my anime on "WCOSTREAM.COM"
(Formerly Watch Cartoons Online.com)

Or some of the Netflix ones.

WCOstream has most of anything you could think of available, in both/either Dubbed and/or Subbed. I spend a lot of time just perusing the shows/movies, etc I wish I had time to watch. ;P

We are going to disagree here for...reasons.
I'm pretty sure Scint is right in that you haven't read the same book series we did. Your copy was edited and approved by an insurance company or something.
normally I would agree, but I was just making another low rent sex gag noone got but me.

Ah. I see now. I was immediately thinking back to when you told us you weren't a big fan of that series.

(Which, no problem of course, just that your given reasons didn't jive with what Scint and I experienced.)

I have met the author and have his autograph, I simply much prefer the earlier books to the later ones, which get a bit...much.

Side Jobs was kinda good.

I WANT to meet the author! :)

I can't really disagree with you? His early books and his more recent ones are all GOOD, just getting different in tone than when he started.

I just really like his voice, and style. and one-liners, and quips,... and,... the fact that Harry is ALWAYS out matched. But never outwitted.
:)

Jim Butcher also wrote one spider man novel.
He nailed the 'Peter Parker' voice as well. VERY worth the read if you like Spider man at all.
It is "Spider man: The Darkest Hours"

Me, watching CrunchyRoll with ads, because I can't afford less than 10 bucks a month for the ad free version, 'cause I'm poor.

Ad comes up for a Lexus.

A LEXUS.

What about my broke AF cartoon loving self says I'm in line to buy a brand new luxury car?

I swear, advertisers are f&%!ing stupid.

At least Pandora knows to run ads for cheap car insurance and other bargain items. They at least realize if you can't afford a streaming service you're probably broke.

Look at it the other way around. The person driving around in a brand new Lexus can't afford Crunchy Roll.

It's the same joke you get to make when you see a Porsche 911 Turbo S sitting in the McDonald's drive-thru.

But on a more serious note...there are areas where people who can't afford decent housing or streaming services still buy a premium brand vehicle (used) to help them land the office job. They feel like they can't be seen getting out of used Camry because they'll be instantly dismissed.

I've gotten to the section on "how to say no in various scenarios," and all I want to do is ad-lib the only method that matters across all situations and the one that would get me in the most guaranteed trouble if I told kids to say it.

How to say no if your friend says it's just water: "F~** off."
How to say no if your friend says it's safe: "F@## off."
How to say no and avoid having the e-cig explode in your face: "F!~& off."

It's so simple and universal.

Ugh, being a responsible adult can be SUCH a PITA.

We're coming up on the cancellation date for the school's SoCal trip, where we lose 100% of the deposit if we haven't canceled by then. Both California and Los Angeles have already declared states of emergency, and the CDC's response so far has been ludicrously bad.

So... gamble with other people's money, keep the trip planned, and risk losing it all, or cancel the trip now and risk looking like idiots when things clear up after all?

Not a fun choice...

Well, it's the stupidity that if we cancel the trip now, 90% of the parents will be upset but won't lose any money, and if we wait and have to cancel it later, 10% of the parents will be upset and everyone will lose money.

It's a lose-lose situation simply because the choir can't afford to pay for BOTH the trip AND all the refunds, and there are too many parents who want it both ways. "I don't want you to cancel unless you have to, but if you *do* cancel I want a 100% refund," not understanding the reality of how impossible a request that is.

I'm on the, "I don't want you to cancel unless you have to, and I'm perfectly willing to lose my money if the worst happens," boat.

And both the logistics and legitimate caution dictate that there's only one answer. The 90% can be pissed.

If large events that cost millions of dollars can be cancelled as the event is being set up (See 2020 Geneva Auto Show) in the name of public safety, then so can the choir trip and there's no realistic indication that this is going to be a non-issue in a month or two.

I don't think the virus is the part to worry about. Covid-19 is dangerous enough to merit concern, but it's got nothing on alligator brain mass panic.

The economic side of this is going to get ugly. Shipping lanes being essentially no-gos mean goods aren't arriving, which means shortages on store shelves. That's going to make a quarantine exceedingly difficult, and I don't think it's a stretch to picture Black Friday scenarios over the last case of water bottles and Kleenex. Putting this in LA amplifies the concern by sheer virtue of the large population: more people, fewer goods. Even if the virus itself doesn't explode like the media seems to fear, a lot of people are going to react as though it is the worst-case scenario.

I would not want to be the chaperone in a situation like that.
