Yep, so far our whole group has really been enjoying Love, Death, and Robots, with a couple of exceptions that weren't bad, just not enjoyable to us (the technicolor murder mystery and the soldiers in Afghanistan).

Otherwise a VERY solid series.

The Afghanistan episode was not enjoyable for one of our cats. They used some solid sounds for that final fight, because poor little Vai (aka Confused By Dust) was shaking in fear. We had to turn the sound *way* down during that section to get her calmed down.

Also, Aiymi walked in from the garage during the yogurt episode. She just stopped and stared at the TV. She only caught the final minute or two and as soon as it was over she goes "What...the hell...was that?" And so began her 10 episode binge last night.

Ms. Manager, I question your assertion that an employee "that works only a few hours a week" is my number one priority for the day.

For one, you aren't my manager, and two, you have no way of knowing what else is on my plate and what my priority list really is. I can guarantee that a barely-part-time employee having a "freezing issue" in only one piece of software...which is supported by an entirely other team...is not high on my personal priority list.

So, Adam Ruins Everything is really interesting, but he often makes argumentation based off of poor conceits.

Like, "hey, false problem is <this> and <this other thing> is kind of similar, so it's not that bad!"

Or, "hey, actual problem is <this> and <this other thing> is bad, so it's gotta be terrible!"

It's frustrating because it only weakens his actual arguments.

But there are cool things, too.

Freehold DM wrote:
very well said, and a very important lesson to learn in life.

Heh. That's actually a running gag in his show.

I actually came here to mention that I just discovered that several of the episodes are entirely missing from Neflix!

Missing (so far):

> Season 1: Episode 1 "Giving" (I think it's actually about diamonds)

> Season 1: Episode 7 "Voting"

> Season 2: Episode 8 "Election Special"

> Season 2: Episode 11 "Wild West"

... and anything after Season 2 episode 12.

I'm guessing that's why they call it a "collection" instead of breaking it into Seasons. I wonder why those four in particular were held back, but Drugs, Immigration, Weddings, Death, Sex, and Security were all given a pass?

As an ironic aside, Season 2, Episode 1 is on Netflix, and actively criticizes Netflix. (And itself.) So that's pretty funny.

But, yeah, I find it a really interesting premise. I don't always like or agree with him, and some of his conclusions are... ah... glib? Weak? ... or something (I'm not doing so hot myself at this, right now; I guess it's just, "not great"), but I do like learning facts and it's sometimes interesting to follow up his sources.

So, interestingly, this is now no longer true!

Seems that all of season one and two is present, except the election special (episode eight)!

Season 3 and beyond is still not there, but it's interesting that so many older episodes are now in the list on Netflix. Still called a "collection," though.

I hunger.

I have also updated my phone theme to a new hello kitty tennis one for spring.

It is very green.

Accounting does that with us. Also helps that their offices are right next door to ours...or...no...no that doesn't help at all.

I don't understand why what thing was taken matters. Theft is theft, be it shirt or nickel or gold watch. I would sever all ties with someone who stole from me, friend of my son or not.

It's a personal insult, saying your property is not your own or that your work to attain it should be superceded by another's desire to have.

It's a familial insult to take advantage of your son's friendship for such a petty thing.

And of course, it's illegal, a dick move, and indicative of a personality you more than likely do not want influencing your family.

I'm glad it ended with everything returned.

Everything you said is true...but if I'm reading things correctly, NH lost his own shirt in the laundry and it was never actually stolen, which is what some people are reacting to.

George Carlin had a sub-bit in his big bit called Losing Things back in the early 80's that covered this phenomenon. People lose something, can't imagine that they could have lost something, and jump to "somebody stole it". Even if it's something nobody would want, like frozen banana guacamole or nude pictures of Ernest Borgnine.

Now, to be fair to NH, having been in his position 10 years ago, when your home is overrun with teenagers, there is a *really* high percentage chance that if you can't find something one of those teens was the reason for it. I "lost" several CDs and a DVD during The Adult Kid's teenage years. I could find the cases for them just fine, and I kept the cases in alphabetical order, yet somehow the discs themselves were not in any of the players or the cases. I ended up having to re-buy some of those particular items.

So, upon replaying it, I can definitely say that Ocarina of Time is absolutely... kind of okay.

Has a lot of great elements. Nooooooot a super-fantastic experience. Several solid features, but stuff that really ages. Comparing the freedom of Wind Waker, the beauty and narrative of Twilight Princess, the generally excellent play experience of Link to the Past and Link Between Worlds, it really doesn’t rank anywhere near top Zelda games for me.

It was certainly instrumental, insanely influential at the time, and it isn’t bad by any means. But. Of the main Zelda titles, it basically only eclipses the original two in terms of fun; it’s narrative is solid - really good in fact! - but also surpassed by pretty much every game that’s come after it, and is hampered by the occasional awkward controls and early transition to 3d gaming. Navi is nowhere near as bad as the memes make her out to be, but she can be kind of frustrating. (Similarly, Fi. Fi, herself, is actually less problematic, but the game of SS has a “hold your hand; do not skip” problem.) If I manage to finish, I may revise my opinion, again, but, as of now, OoC is a powerful dose orb nostaligia plus, “wait, wasn’t this better/worse than this?” (Generally, it seems my opinions are somewhat reflected by my sons, playing it for the first time, so, though an unusual source, at least there seems to be some agreement. For the record, I neither play the game nor talk about it with them; they come to their conclusions on their own, so far. They also like the game more than I do, at present.)

Man, “dose orb nostalgia” sounds like a potent poison. I wonder how many good such a thing costs?

Hey, now, the "plus" was intentional!

So I know a lot of FaWtLers are into the L5R like me. I'm trying to come up with an NPC for my game (whereupon the players have founded a new Minor Clan, the Leech, responsible for helping the untainted Spiders move into Rokugan again, as well as keeping them from going to war with the Crab, who are absolutely infuriated about the Iweko Compromise).

They've taken to the whole "darkness isn't evil necessarily" schtick, and it's been great, and now I'm trying to throw a curve ball by making a few Spiders...well...as evil as you'd expect them to be. So far they've just been Scorpions on Steroids as far as their attitudes. As part of this, they're going to encounter basically the Rokugani equivalent of a paladin.

I'm not sure if I want to do this as a traditional bushi, or a reflavored monk, or an extremely martial shugenja, but the idea is your typical single-minded holy man, though less lawful stupid and stubborn and more "I'm sorry, but I don't compromise for 'reality' when ideals matter more" type - kinda like Michael from the Dresden Files.

Another idea is a foreigner. The Empire has recently opened borders to gaijin again in my game (Iweko I is considered the most "liberal" Empress in centuries), under the basis that just because one group of gaijin f&##ed Rokugan, doesn't mean all of them will. (Also, 'cause they need a lot of foreign money to handle the "let's reunite all of Rokugan, including the children of Fu Leng" project, but she doesn't publicly tell that.)

Meanwhile, the descendants of Daigotsu are basically claiming they're the legit inheritors of the throne, being descended from Hantei, and that Iweko is merely a steward of the throne until they reclaim it.

...civil war is brewing in Rokugan...

I don't think I've mentioned it here, but there has been some talk about getting a new mascot for the local university. Frankly, I don't give a s&%$, but I really wish they would go with the one I heard that started as a joke. There's a pretty well known statue on campus called Alma Mater, so someone proposed that the new mascot be a female otter named Alma Otter. Again, I really don't care what the university does, but I have to support the pun.
