And today was a particularly awful day for a whole bunch of people I love.

[sarcasm]Oh so very Christian of them![/sarcasm] ~sighs~ And this is one of the reasons why I am an atheist / anti-religion. Not anti-spiritual though.

And on that note, I will shut up!

I told my son that people keep accidentally asking me to buy them meat. He said "By mistake?" I said "Oh, no! Not you too!"

What does a panda use to make pancakes? A pan, duh.

As I suspected, my next-door neighbor has been adding soil to my garden. The plot thickens.

Me, in court: "Your honor, I am here to dispute 60% of my parking tickets."
Judge: "Repeat infractions?"
Me: "Okay. I'm here to dispute 3/5 of my parking tickets."

It's odd. Every time I ask a German girl for her phone number, they all give me the same one: 999-9999.

Does the panda know kung fu?

Those German women are some smart ladies.

No. But it does know Wang Chung.

I don't see how that could be possible.

Spoiler:

Not trying to engage you if you don't want, as by nature I am one of the children of wrath and very much enjoy fulfilling the desires of the flesh and mind =) But I was gonna say that the UMC actually did pretty well by LGBT folks when you consider the votes, even though the supportive lost, considering you're asking many people to essentially rewrite their long held biblical morality. That's a tough sell. I find it pleasing there was as much support as there was. edit: Though it would have been cool if each church was allowed to make their own decision, that would have been a nice outcome.

*Hi paws Sharoth*

religious stuff:

Though I feel that the powers that be judge more on what you do rather then how many times you pray per day. Live your life not trying to make someone's day worse, and when possible make it better instead, and you've lived a fulfilling one. And have no issues answering to the powers that be.

Sure, I ain't no Saint, but I'm no devil either.

The Exchange

Also, I apologise for my rather spot by activity lately but work has been keeping me busy. It's all that policy making.

Do we get flaming bikes launched at us for this topic or is it just politics?

Politics, trying not to completely derail the thread about nothing. You know what I mean.

Wait I thought the point was that the thread was about nothing?

I too was disheartened when a similar decision came down in my old church.

I can't join that discussion without getting into politics and also going on way too many tangents.

But I do feel bad for that situation they are in.

The Exchange

more religious/political stuff:

The basis of any religion is to spread the word and grow - what is the easier way then starting up a family and spread it to the next generation.

If I may quote the verse for this:

Genesis 9:7

As for you, be fruitful and increase in number; multiply on the earth and increase upon it.

Sure, gay/les couples can adopt but the process is full of hurdles etc which have been discussed before. So I can understand where UMC is coming from. That does not mean I approve of what they did, but I can see their point of view.

The Exchange

Oh well if I get flaming biked for that, I guess I do. Can't keep my mouth shut sometimes.

Considering I'm not shoveling snow like I thought I'd be, I'll let it slide.

We don't have this problem in the Reformed Glory Divine Healing Temple of Lludd Llaw Eirent, do we, butties?

No, we don't. Your severed head might end up adorning one of our triliths, but potayto potahto, or whatever the Ancient British equivalent is.

Yea…

I'm kind of like that too. While these movies are great for kids (and I'll watch em with kids), they often don't really capture me that well. I don't go that often to the movies, so if I'm going it for something I really, really, really want to see.
All that said, recently it will require even more arm-twisting to get me to see a Marvel/DC movie, as I'm suffering from sever super hero fatigue.

Ugh, I know what you mean. I'm still a sucker for the supers genre, but after seeing X-Men Apocalypse and Justice League I've begun approaching the whole genre with extreme trepidation.

(It's not just those two movies that did it, they just really highlighted the supers-ism of "Aim our one unstoppable godlike super at the otherwise invincible bad guy, win." Doesn't work in TTRPGs, doesn't work in team movies.)

I can't respond to the spoilers without getting a tactical bike nuke, and nukes have never ended well.

I've kinda been the same. I keep finding myself alone on the internet in having thought Infinity War was a waste of time. But so, so many of the movies coming out anymore are not just superhero movies, but superhero movies that keep thinking they have to raise the stakes to tell a pretty basic story. And they don't.

Why can't superheroes have fun anymore? (Not that it helped Deadpool. Felt like I paid ten bucks to look at someone's terrible meme collection.)

For once, DC seems to have it right - Shazam! looks like a blast.

Since the last Thor movie we've had ideas of an all oread party called Korg.

the only time I laughed was during deadpool 2, when *all* the x men(save colossus) noped out of the movie, very quietly.

So close to doing the heart on silent.. I had a nifty poison deck(killed the transient with nightmare and catalyst), but couldn't pump block long enough to survive the hearts invulnerability.

I love both Deadpool movies.

I frowned my way through them both. Even at the apology at the end of the second one.

Also, why is FAWTL not on the main page?

Well, get enough nukes and we could get of problems. All of them.

I made Korg for Starfinder.

A Shimreen Soldier with the Gladiator theme for Akiton in the Pact Worlds book.

I still haven't seen Infinity Wars. Nor Civil War. Nor Justice League. I seem to have better things to do with my time than see semi-decent superhero movies.

Its point buy. Its easily reversed. Its why you make a praty of Korgs :P

Korg is simply an anomaly for his race, that's all. No biggie.

Beyond being an atheist, this is why I'm a Humanist. It comes with an ethic for living, the Golden Rule, without the baggage of religious tradition.

Of course, I think we freethinkers of all varieties have a lot of catching up to do, PR and institution-wise. :)

My bounty on Red Dead Redemption 2 is now up to $295.

You can thank the Great Valentine Sheep massacre for that.

And the crossroads robbery with entirely too many witnesses.

Also the the countless people I accidentally shot in the face trying to talk them (hold down R2 get a talking menu, hold down L2 draw your gun and shoot in the face, I forget which is which).

Edit: Shit, is that right!?

It was supposed to snow, it didn't, so I'm not doing shit, for the first time in six weeks.

Oh I haven't seen anything about Shazam, is he the Marvel super with lightning powers?

...As opposed to DC's Black Lightning?

...It's kind of amazing how many DC-Marvel parallels there are.

Anyway, yeah, supers franchises do too much stakes-raising. I've come to the opinion that saving the world/galaxy/universe should be a franchise-ending story. Make it epic, then make way for another (set of) supers.
