Christmas is over. Its nearly new years eve.

I miss my mom. A lot. She died three years ago from cancer, after we had a rough few years with her health due to a brain aneurysm.

She was very changed after that. But still my mum.

I miss her terribly.

LM, I read your post. I also have a dysfunctional family member. After my brother's suicide, my sister began blaming everyone. So, I understand what you're dealing with. *hugs*

*Offers hugs to Woran.*

Great-Grandpa Longears was in South Africa, but only while the Boer War was on. Grandpa Longears was nearby in WWII, but by the time he'd learned to fly bombers, that particular conflict was over. And that is the end of Longears hearing drums echo in the night, so far as I know.

So, you're from Saskatchewan then?

I'll tell you when I have actually caught it.

That's terrible LM.
It's on those s~~*ty situations where there's no easy answers…
I come from a home marred by a physical and emotional abusive father too. My mother was the primary target but he also lashed out at my brother or I.
And, Well, look how I turned out...
I guess, what I'm saying is that it's complicated, and while I can't know exactly the how's, where's and what's of your situation...but I get some of it at least. It's tiring, it drives you up the wall and it hurts…
I can't stay at home with my father* for more then a handful of days before the hurt starts souring things up.
But this isn't about me…
I just want to say, I'm here if you want to talk or vent LM. Just PM me if you ever feel the need to, alright?

* And he, despite all the s@&~ he put my mother and us through, wasn't acting out of pure maliciousness…he had his problems too, physical and mental, that pushed him towards violence.
It doesn't excuse what he did, not one bit really…
But it does muddy things up more.

Hi, Kjel! What's up?

Yup, it's exactly as I thought it would be.

So, my mother's doctor had to retire due to a back injury. She asked for a new insurance card with a new doctor on it. And what did the insurance company do? They sent her a new card with the old doctor's name on it. Seriously? WTF people? What part of "This doctor is retired" do these idiots not understand? My mother is seriously pissed right now. Monday morning, they and mother will have a conversation that they will not enjoy.

Meh…

Moody and a bit stressed. Even if the holidays themselves where alright, the month as a whole has been rough on my. Too much stress and some stupid personal drama.
But its more annoying and tiring then anything really "life-threatening"

Hope you and the rest of the family is doing over there…

Nighty night John.

Aye holidays are always kind of bitter sweet for me. My dad died a little over 4 years ago from liver cancer well technically infection. My grandma also passed over the holidays as well seems like the bad stuff always waits for the holidays.

My son was playing video games today when I walked in, stood about 5' away, and slowly started extending a tape measure at him. Eventually it started pressing his face. Finally he got frustrated and said "Dad! What are you doing!?!" I smiled and said "I'm measuring your patience."

At any moment, the urge to sing "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" is just a whim away, a whim away, a whim away...

My uncle celebrated his 62nd birthday today. It was only a minute long.

As we stood around the bonfire yesterday, my boy asked me "Dad, are we pyromaniacs?" I replied "Yes, we arson."

Woran - This was my first Christmas without Dad. I get it.

LM - Just hang in there. The important thing is that you're there to see your mom and let her see her grandkids. The rest...sucks...but... I guess I see it as where do we want to place the emphasis.

Thank you everyone. I feel better this morning.

The Exchange

I think my body can't take oily good these days. After like near a month of cutting fried food out of my life, today I had some fried pork knuckle and was like urk, so greasy><

Now I feel kinda heavy =(

And its night now, I walked about maybe 5 km this morning, did Billy Blanks rough and tough taebo workout 1h ago, so I don't think I'll be able to fit in anymore exercise sessions today.

I wanted to go swimming but it was rather late by the time I pounded the dried fish into powder the old fashioned way - with a mortar and pestle.

pounded the Dried fish powder.... Such a strange string of words when placed in a row like that.

The Exchange

Ok, I pulled out the Taebo insane abs workout, not wanting to jump after dinner and yeah...I am SO not up to it :P

Not right after dinner!

The Exchange

I don't think it would have made any difference before or after dinner, but I didn't get stitches so it's a good piece of news(If I had gone running I would DEFINITELY end up with stitches), and I feel less bad about fried pork knuckles now =P

The other exercise I know I can do after a meal is swimming. Nothing happens except I come out hungrier.

The Exchange

With the powder, this was what I was trying to achieve

Thanks so much for all your support yesterday, folks.
We're on our way home today (looong drive, return the car, long flight, home around midnight) and won't be back here until the end of June.
I appreciate all of you so much.
Woran, big hugs.

It's been an interesting few days, grandpa took the kids for the last few days, it's snowed, and I had a family gathering. So I've alternated between time with the wife, working, time with the wife, working, ignoring family, working, and more time with the wife.

The plus side is, my body is soooo relaxed right now, the downside is, eventually I'll need to sleep.

Eventually.

I've been at the office for several hours now. I can see the end of the tunnel on this project. After today it's just the stragglers to worry about.

But tomorrow...tomorrow is going to suck. A bunch of users and managers are going to lose their minds.

We're expecting 2-4 inches of snow tomorrow, that should be good for 12-15 hours.

Don't be silly. There's no such place as Georgia. It'd be like calling a country Keithistan, or Brianland.

I think this might be one of the more ridiculous things I've ever heard about PBP assumptions.

Here's a conversation between me and one of my players:

Me :I'm all for telling you as much backstory as possible but when the party does not really seem to be interested in talking to NPCs then I am unable to do so. And when you go through APs, you likely only get a chance to go through it once. It also makes me feel discouraged that when I try to RP the NPCs, I don't get much of a response.

Him: I want to work towards more interaction with the NPCs but I as a player don't have a history with them. I know Hedran does but it's hard to catch up on that. Especially, when we have been treking through the woods so the day to day would mostly routine.

Me: Even day to day travelling you can get RP

Him: I am also working under the assumption that we are also pretty elite Malitia in hostile territory at this point so we are being quite as we travel, keeping the fire low, and talking we needed as to not draw attention how we are behaving. Talking formations, resources, contigencies are all rp that is directly relevant to the situation. People build bonds by achieving things together. For a group of warriors thfighting and the success is rp and would change the bonds of the group spoken or unspoken. Hedran has been healed and had is life saved similarly has saved lives, that changes bonds.

Me: You're not assumed to be stealthing, since the amount of people in mediun armor would draw enough attention from clanking, whether you were even talking or not. I do not impose penalties on people choosing to RP. Have enough stealth, it comes out in a whisper and no one except the people you're talking to hears you anyway. Insufficient stealth and you clank so much that whether you talk or not it makes no difference.

Him: I'm not saying stealthing. I'm saying common sense movement through the bush. That is why it is RP and mechanically stealthing.

Me: Read some David Eddings, Mercedes Lackey, Tamora Pierce and other books. The protagonists may be sneaking somewhere, but it does NOT mean that the entire part while they're sneaking in enemy territory is done entirely without conversation. They see atrocities, they comment on them. They do not just speak amongst themselves just on tactical matters. The books would be much poorer if the protagonists did not speak among themselves.

Or look at LOTR movie. Do Frodo and Samwise sneak into Mordor without saying a single word? No, Frodo spends most of the time complaining about the burden of the one ring(sure, he's warranted that).

Please do not give me excuses that because we're in enemy territory so we cannot speak. It does not fly. I'm telling you that whether you talk or not it does not make a difference to whether you get spotted. Since you make enough noise without talking as it is(Nigel).

If you really wanted to try stealthing, all travelling times would be doubled as you'd have to move at half speed, which I haven't been doing.

Most APs also you spend a lot of times in dungeons. So that means you say you don't need to speak (except for tactical matters) throughout the entire AP? That's rubbish.
